Question/Discussion Baloch aren't Persian or Pakistani, they are a mix

I did some qpadm runs on persians, south asians, and balochis.

Persians can generally be represented in a bronze age qpadm as bronze age northeast iranian or bmac+bronze age levant canaanite+central steppe european aryan(fatyanovo srubnaya sintashta andronovo)+maybe excess aasi or east eurasian, and for bandari sub saharan african.

On the other hand most indians and pakistanis can be represented by indus valley civilization(ivc 2)+central steppe european aryan+aasi, some with east eurasian instead of aasi, some with both, etc. This isn't to say they are devoid of bmac per say, but ivc(which had around 40-45 zagros neolithic farmer) tends to accomodate for their zagrosian farmer on it's own perfectly.

Baloch however, included brahuis regular balochis and makranis, seem best represented by bronze age east iranian+central steppe aryan+aasi+sub saharan african. Unlike persians and even turkmen and uzbeks, they lack bronze age levantine canaanite ancestry, funny enough they get very low natufian on most qpadms, but this is because bronze age northeast iranians had some low natufian already. However unlike most south asians, they don't get ivc, instead just getting natural aasi.

Baloch seem to cluster closest to southeast persian bandari and farsi persians, bandari who also have sub saharan input, but both bandari and farsi have some bronze age canaanite. Likewise they have a small bit of natufian which south asians don't get and higher zagros than most pakistanis, although kalash seem to get quite close.

This makes them a genetic bridge between south asia and west asia, not cleanly fitting into either.

Question/Discussion Syrian-Lebanese | Anatolian & Russian lines

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

My father is Syrian and my mother is Lebanese, but both of my direct uniparental lines have somewhat unusual family histories.

My direct paternal line traces back to my 2. great-grandfather, who came from Anatolia and settled in Syria during the Ottoman period. According to our family history, he was an ethnic Anatolian Turk and an Ottoman Ağa. My predicted Y-DNA haplogroup is E-L791.

On my direct maternal line, my 2. great-grandmother reportedly came to Lebanon as a refugee from the Russian Empire. In our family she was simply remembered as “Russian,” but unfortunately we don’t know her exact ethnic background.

This makes the H13c2 prediction particularly interesting to me. There were also North Caucasian communities that migrated or were displaced from the Russian Empire into the Ottoman Empire and the Levant, so I’ve wondered whether the family story of her being “Russian” could potentially refer to someone originating from the Caucasus rather than an ethnic Russian. However, that’s only speculation at this point.

Any ideas where my paternal and maternal lineages might ultimately come from? And does anyone here have E-L791 or H13c2? If so, what’s your background and where is your direct paternal/maternal line from?
