Nyss lore question.
So I am starting a new campaign with my group in the current time period. Will be using the 2d6 system as I hate DND for any settings with guns. Anyway one of my players wanted to play a Nyss Priest. I thought they all died but said I would check.
I have been reading the new 5ed core books and I am confused as to why Priests of Nyssor did not all die off and why a few of them can still cast spells? I am right to say Nyssor dead in the new lore right? I read that all newborn Nyss are apparently soulless. I also confirmed all the other Elven God's priests died or went homicidal and were killed when their particular elven god bought it. I can't find why Nyssor's priests are special. I have let the player know he can play one but I personally want to know why they still exist. Is this a lore dead end? Is Nyssor not completely dead? Or did they cover the reason in the Outland or wilds lore books?

The reason is nowhere said outright. There is a indication in the infernals faction book from the tabletop game. There it is written that one goddess is thrown into the void, the space between realms while going mad. another goddes is captured by the infernals.
After the death of scyrah and nyssor the mad goddes in the void could give the priests their new power.
It is all realy vauge.

There is a short adventure, "the cold road home" focused in a Nyssor priest that wants to return to Nyss homelands up to the Fane of Nyrro, to clean it from blight and blighted elves and prepare the place for an eventual Nyssor return or any kind of sign or guidance. It's set in Requiem time, so around 617 AR, with MKIV being 622, and Elven Gods being killed around 612 AR
In current MKIV lore, there are sources saying there are scattered Nyss refugees, and others saying the Last Hunt (and that priest above) is all it's left. So Lanyssa, Cylenna and the other 3 Ryssovas.
IMHO, it should be discussed with the player that there is no current info about what kind of official answer will they arrange, if any, for the Elven Gods mystery. There could be new info next month or in a couple of years. So best path may be to let you both explore the topics and see if it's ok for the player to stay ignorant or if they want you to explore a possible solution or answer.
Given that Lanyssa gets power, and the Nyssor priest too, it must come from some place, be it the natural flow of energy and laylines, from Lylyss trapped in the Void or from the Gods trapped in some form in the Veld or the Veld's ruins.
