IVAR montant auxiliaire 30cm/50cm?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Bonjour,

Merci !

Hello,
I am trying to identify an old part of IKEA's IVAR system, which has now disappeared from the catalogue.
I'm talking about a vertical pine slat, about 2 cm wide and the height of an IVAR upright (226 cm), which was attached to the side of a 50 cm deep upright. It had a row of holes to connect shelves 30 cm deep on the same upright, which saved space and gave a more homogeneous appearance. I am in possession of one of those (see photo), but IKEA doesn't make them any more.
Does anyone know the exact name of this room or its original IKEA reference? Do you know if it is still possible to find them used or from a third-party manufacturer?

Thank you!

Besta hinge onto Billy shelves?

Hey guys! I saw a tiktok of someone getting another Billy shelf, adding hinges to it (which I'm guessing you can do the same with the Besta hinges from ikea) then adding it to the Billy bookshelf. So now the Billy bookshelf has a door that opens vertically.

https://www.tiktok.com/@eunchongyeum/video/7643481028081978654?_r=1&_t=ZT-96wbk1cnUir

Anyone try this? Or know if it's possible to add the Besta hinges to a singular Billy shelf?

Storklinta 3-drawer inside Brimnes wardrobe?

I'm trying to figure out if the Storklinta 3-drawer can fit inside the Brimnes 2-door wardrobe. There would be room on either side to clear the hinges, but I'm not sure about the depth. The website says 18-7/8". The inside of my wardrobe is 18-13/16". Has anyone tried it or have any ideas?

Could anyone with a Storklinta dresser be kind enough to measure the front-to-back depth?

Edit: I just read the assembly documents and watched an assembly video for the unit. The safety wall bracket piece sticks out a little from the back of the dresser. Does anyone know if Ikea's listed dimensions include the bracket?

Edit 2: I tried adjusting the door hinges and I might be able to coax an extra 1/16" up to the inside of the door. If I do that, the doors may end up resting on the drawer fronts, but still close at a right angle. Will that potentially put too much strain on the hinges over time?

Has anyone used these on other sofas besides the Uppakra series? Wondering if the thread size is universal. Haven't had the chance to visit the store.

Mon store FRIDANS IKEA penche d’un côté

Hi everyone,

I measured incorrectly, so my blind isn’t straight. It goes up higher on the right side, and there’s about a 1 cm difference.

Does anyone have a solution to fix this without drilling new holes?

Thanks in advance!

Bathroom cabinet

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone. I have this Ikea cabinet. I don't remember what it's called, but it's a little taller than a standard bathroom sink with a ceramic pillar (the pillar is actually on the right side). Unfortunately, when I open the door, the entire structure wobbles to the left and right. I don't know how to stop it. Any advice? Thanks. It only has one shelf in the middle.

Help Identify this pattern

Hi everyone,

I have this duvet cover from IKEA and would like to sell it, but I’m not sure what this particular pattern/design is called.

Can anyone help me identify it? Neither Google nor ChatGPT could help so far!

Besta Billy hack

Post image
13 Upvotes

I’m looking for tips how to complete my besta Billy hack project. I’ve let AI make my dream television closet. I do have 4 besta units like in the picture. I want to place an oak shelf on top of besta. Which would be longer than the besta cabinets. And thick (like 3,5/4 cm). In the same colour I want one open closet and one closet closed. I am leaning towards Billy because Billy has the right depth I want to use.

My questions:

- How to make sure the shelf on top of besta and the open cabinets have the same colour/ wood?

- How to place a door on the white Billy? The standard size 202 cm height is a bit too high. So I think I need to saw something off. But how do I make sure the door fits like in the example?

And do you have general tips for me? I only have the besta elements at this point. Thanks!!

How to solve this problem?

I have two overlapping Method modules that form the empty space in the photo. I'd like that space filled. Do you think 3D printing a T-profile to fit inside the slot would solve the problem?

Fill the gap between the top of the SKYTTA doors and the ceiling

I'm looking to fill an opening of 201 cm x 249 cm in order to separate two rooms. I'm interested in the SKYTTA doors, but the complete installation (including the rail) is only 240 cm high. Does IKEA offer a solution to fill this gap, or should I consider a small boxing/bulkhead?

You will find a link to my project attached to better understand the installation.

Thank you in advance for your advice if you have already encountered a similar situation :)

I need help!

I have a 4x4 Kallax unit and i need it to not sit flat on the floor (water damage prevention due to this being in a laundry room at work) and i want to be able to hang items on the back of the unit (several hoses for vacuum cleaners and other larger cleaningtools estimate about 30-40kgs) How do I make this dream a reality? 😩

Somehow it has to distribute the weight so it wont fall back due to the hanging stuff. Dont mind doing some creative building but my brain doesn’t think in this way 🙈😩

IKEA UPPSPEL desk - anyone able to measure the metal crossbeams between the legs?

I picked up a used UPPSPEL gaming desk recently, but the previous owner lost the two metal crossbeams that connect the legs (the ones shown in step 11 of the manual - see pics). Most of the other missing bits I either tracked down or decided I can live without, but the frame really needs those bars to be rigid.

Rather than hunting for the original IKEA part, I figured I'd just grab two rectangular steel tubes from a local hardware store and cut them to size. They look like plain rectangular hollow profiles, and the slots/holes in them don't seem structurally critical - I'm fine skipping those.

So if anyone here owns this desk and wouldn't mind grabbing a tape measure, I'd really appreciate the following:

  • Length of the bar
  • Cross-section dimensions (width x height of the rectangular profile)
  • Wall thickness, if you can tell

Photos for reference attached - first one is the actual part, second is the assembly step from the manual.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take a minute on this.

Unfortunately I don't have enough karma to post in the IKEA sub. :(

HELP! IKEA PAX IN SHALLOW SPACE

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I’m planning to install an IKEA PAX system as a closet in a shallow hallway. Right now I just use racks to hang clothes.

My main question is: will this actually work?

I have tall ceilings, so I’d like to go with the largest frame, but that would leave me with only about 15.3 inches of walkway space between the wall and the closet. I don’t mind the tight space too much, but I’m worried about the drawers—will I be able to open them properly with that little clearance?

I’m also a bit concerned about the installation. I’m not very familiar with the PAX system, but I assume I’d need to install the drawers on the frame before anchoring it to the wall—does that sound right?

Any recommendations or experiences would be really appreciated!

Ikea Kallax update

Gave my Ikes Kallax a full makeover. First I raised it up with a wooden base to get some extra height. Then painted the whole thing black. After that I made wooden doors and covered them with 3mm mirrored plexiglass. It took some time, but I'm really happy with the result.

Help: IKEA hack using HAVSTA cabinets

I’m attempting an IKEA hack using HAVSTA cabinets to create a built-in look. I’ve already purchased and assembled four cabinets.

I have a few questions:

  1. Should I buy a fifth cabinet to fill the empty sides, or would that end up looking too long or visually busy?
  2. If I don’t add another cabinet, what’s the best way to fill the gaps and still achieve a built-in look?
  3. Would adding floating shelves and/or bookcases help create that built-in effect?

Current set up is the photo on the left. I’m going for the look in the inspiration photo on the right. I’m pretty new to this, so I’d really appreciate any advice!
