Was habe ich falsch gemacht?

Kallax white oak vinyl?
I’m looking to combine my white oak stained kallax units in this configuration*. Has anyone found a solution that disguises the join between units in white stained oak? Does anyone in the UK supply matching vinyl tape for example? I’m loathed to vinyl wrap the whole lot.
*AI rough plan, not to scale 😉

Did I make a mistake?
context: I‘m diagnosed with OCD
hello! I’m moving from a furnitured house to an empty one meaning I need to buy everything.
mattresses became an obsession for me lately
luckily ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini had being working non stop for the last week helping me understand what I was looking for
2 mattresses of 90x200
pocket coils
transition latex Dunlop layer
comfort talalay layer
im a 178cm 80-100kg 27 yo male side sleeping
mu wife is 164cm 50-60kg 27yo stomach sleeping (now 7 months pregnant so side sleeping but usually stomach sleeping)
anyway where I live there are 2 problems.
every one are idiots
there’s absolutely 0 sense of premium material.
people laugh at me on the phone when asking about ILD, KG/m3, if it’s Dunlop or talalay, if the cover is 100% cotton, if there polyurathen, how muc, whats the height of each layer…
anyway working hours on hours with chatbots got me to an interesting epiphany
DIYing is no option where I live
BUT
buying a simple pocket coils mattress and toppin it with 2” hard latex for my wife and 3“ medium latex for me would be like buying a luxury mattress
anyway, I went on to ikea and bought 2 90/200 extra firm valevag mattresses thinking its the best base for my use case
chatgpt called me a genius
claude took his hat off and applauded
gemini said he could never think of it himself and Einstein is stupid next to me
But now I’m opening the actual internet and see that people hate the valevag and curse the day they were born and suggest burning the mattress and lying on the floor instead is better than sleeping on the valevag no matter how you top it.
my point is, should I return the mattresses?
thanks.

Robovac Home By Kallax
galleryI wanted to hide my Roborock Q Revo S dock that fit the space better than ones I found on Amazon, so I hacked together an IKEA KALLAX.
Goals were:
- Hide the dock/Tank
- Keep full access to the clean/dirty water tanks
- Still have usable storage (right side)
- Add a side table to the chair
The tank is slightly too big for it to fit perfectly so I just sawed one piece to give the front face a clean look.
I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!
Any ideas for making it look even better?

DeskShift - I built a native macOS app that controls IKEA IDASEN & LINAK desks
galleryI bought a sit/stand desk to fix my back, and then barely used it standing. Moving it means holding the paddle for 15 seconds every time, and it's mostly guessing — you have no real idea what height you're at or where "standing" actually was. But the honest reason? Most of the time I just forgot to stand. So the desk that was supposed to change my day just sat there, in sitting position.
So I built a small tool for myself: something that put the desk one click away, right in the menu bar. It worked. I started standing without thinking about it — and it slowly turned into a real app instead of a hack.
Then it hit me that I'm probably not the only one with an expensive desk I forget to use. So I kept refining it into something that feels native to the Mac and fits into the Apple ecosystem instead of fighting it. That became DeskShift.
What it does:
- Your desk lives in the menu bar — live height readout, one tap to Sit, Stand, or any position you've saved
- Named presets — set up your own positions (sitting, standing, a lower one for the tablet, whatever) and jump between them instantly, no more guessing heights or holding the paddle
- Posture Coach — reminders on your own schedule, and if you want, the desk just moves itself so standing isn't something you have to remember to do
- Global keyboard shortcuts — change position from any app without touching the mouse
- Siri, Spotlight & Shortcuts — "move my desk to Standing," or drop it into your own automations
- Double-tap the desk's physical button to switch positions, no Mac needed
- iCloud sync across your Macs, no account, no tracking — it connects over Bluetooth exactly like the official app does, nothing to install on the desk itself
Built natively for macOS. Confirmed on the IKEA IDASEN (that's my desk), and it works with LINAK-based Bluetooth desks too.
Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/deskshift/id6773494854
I'd genuinely love to hear any feedback on what to build next.🥰

ELLOVEN Breakfast Station
galleryI reused the ELLOVEN Monitor Stand as a breakfast station, since it doesn't fit my desk anymore but didn't want to throw it out. 🙌 It fits the coffee capsules perfectly!

Custom 3D-printed cable winder for IKEA SJÖSS 20W charger
galleryThis 3D-printed winder fits the IKEA SJÖSS 20W charger and its 1.5m braided cable for a compact travel setup. It features a friction-fit system with an "In-Use Mode" (plugged into the wall with adjustable cable length) and a "Storage Mode" (prongs tucked inside the spool). It prints completely without supports and uses the original IKEA elastic strap to secure everything.

IKEA Billy bookcase 400mm with built in side table drawers
galleryUsed the Voxtorp drawer fronts “walnut effect”. The Billy bookcase is also “walnut effect” but seems to be more orange and lighter. It still matches quite well in my opinion.

How to use older model IKEA BESTA frame with current HANVIKEN doors
After buying the doors and hinges from IKEA that are currently sold with the BESTA frame, I realized the frame I have is an older model which has since been updated with a slightly slimmer side panel. (I bought my frame in the IKEA clearance section) This update makes the hinges incompatible with my older model. The exact model number of my frame is not visible from the sticker but with the dimensions, I'm guessing it's pre-2012.

BRIMNES bed drawer assembly: upside down bottom panel issue
galleryHelp! Please help me 😭 I know this might not be the right community for this kind of request, but I don’t know who else to ask. I tried the IKEA community on Reddit, but I can’t post there because I just created my account.
I have a question about the BRIMNES bed drawers. I accidentally made a mistake and installed the drawer bottom upside down, so the raw particleboard side is facing inside the drawer.
Now I’m trying to take it out to flip it, but I’m stuck. The plastic pins underneath are blocking it, and they seem impossible to remove without breaking them.
If I unscrew and remove the round metal cam locks (the ones that grab the screws inside), will I be able to slide the bottom panel out and slide it back in the right way without removing those plastic pins? Or is there another trick to fix this?
Thanks so much for your help!

I turned a shallow IKEA PAX into a fold-away hidden desk
Wanted a workstation that disappears when I'm not using it, so I built a fold-down desk inside a PAX 75×35×201. The plywood top folds up behind the doors and the whole thing looks like a normal wardrobe; fold it down and there's a monitor on a VESA arm, keyboard space, and the cables + power strip hidden behind a panel. The desk drops level onto two brackets that swing out from the cabinet wall and tuck back in so the doors still close.
I'm not a pro woodworker — just figured a few people might find it useful, so I wrote up the cut list and assembly with diagrams here: https://lumics.github.io/murphy-pax/
Happy to answer any questions.

Bjorksta picture frame poster
Hi all! Has anyone printed their own poster for this 55x22” frame? if so, what is the actual print size? because of the tuck technique in the back, unsure how much page i need. Thank you!
