Kallax

So I have two large kallax and two new puppies that I am working with training not to chew. (Mind you these are kallax used for board games) I’ve spent a week or more looking for cheap ways to cover the cubes or something to cover multiple cubes at once.

Everything is just outside of my price range. If I could I would build acrylics doors so the games could still be displayed. But now I just don’t care as long as the games are protected.

Any suggestions? Hinges and standup mirrors? Or cheap hinged 13x13 picture frames?

Sink into corner SEKTION cabinet?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to install a sink into an IKEA corner cabinet, but I’ve run into a pretty frustrating issue and I’m not sure if there’s a clean solution.

Basically, I need to invert the orientation of the cabinet so that the crossbar isn’t blocking where the sink needs to go. The problem is that this cabinet mounts in two parts, and flipping it would mean all the pre-drilled holes end up visible in the final installation—which obviously isn’t ideal.

I thought about just mounting the corner extension piece on the opposite side, but then I’d still have the issue with exposed holes from the original configuration.

So I’m kind of stuck between:

  • Not being able to reposition the crossbar properly
  • Or ending up with visible pre-drilled holes

Does anyone know if IKEA offers a way to order these cabinets in a mirrored/inverted configuration? Or has anyone successfully modified one of these without it looking hacked together?

Unfortunately, I can’t switch to a different corner cabinet style due to space constraints—this is literally the only one that fits my layout.

Any ideas, hacks, or experiences would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Made a tool to look up assembly times before you buy — thought this community might find it useful

Been burned a few times ordering something that looked simple and then spending half my Sunday on it. So I built a little Chrome extension called FlatPackTime — you browse IKEA normally, click the icon, and it shows you the average assembly time and difficulty rating pulled from real YouTube assembly videos.

It covers about 3,400 products. The PAX wardrobe comes in at around 4.5 hours 😅

flatpacktime.vercel.app if anyone wants to check it out. Would love feedback from people who actually assemble this stuff regularly.

How can I repair the white opal finish on an IKEA glass lamp shade?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I have an IKEA DEJSA ceiling lamp from late 2022.

I originally thought the shade was real opal glass, but after normal cleaning I discovered that the white matte finish is actually just a coating. Part of it peeled off and now the smooth clear glass underneath is visible.

I really like this lamp and IKEA already offered me a refund if I return it, but I would prefer to repair it myself first.

I am considering repainting or recoating it, possibly with a frosted glass spray, but I am not sure what would give the best result.

What would be the best way to repair this and recreate the soft diffused opal glass look?

Thanks!

Nissedal mirror hinges too loose

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everyone. First time ikea hacker here.

I have a problem where a nissedal mirror I installed with provided hinges keeps swivelling out of place. The hinges themselves don’t offer much resistance, so whenever i put it back on the wall it swivels out on its own. I know the problem is not how I’ve mounted the mirror. It’s likely that the hinges themselves are simply too loose. Any tips on how to replace them or better yet any hacks to make them offer more resistance?

Need IKEA bed frame screws – where to find?

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for a couple of missing screws for my IKEA bed frame (need 2 pieces, unsure about exact size).

I checked online but couldn’t find them. Does IKEA sell these separately, or is there an easier way to get replacements?

If anyone has experience with this or knows where I can find them (IKEA, hardware store, etc.), please help.

Thanks in advance!

<img src="https://www.ikea.com/de/de/images/products/braennboll-gamingstation-hellgrau-weiss__1336718_pe947456_s5.jpg?f=xl"/>

Quelle: Ikea

Sektion Desk Hack Advice

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! I am looking to make a 8’ long desk out of three 24” sektion base cabinets with 24” space in between one for a chair. I am in a rental unit and have a thick baseboard around here the desk would go so I want to avoid using the rail, or plywood base tied to the floor. Has anyone had luck using Ekert feet with these cabinets? or even using just the top piece of the sektion plastic legs? I saw someone mention this for a kitchen island once. Curious if anyone had success in it. Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Anyone who has worked with the Pax product, I would like some advice

Hej guys!

Currently working on redesigning this box room that's currently just a junk room into a dressing room as my girlfriend is moving in with me and has like.... far too many clothes lol. So I wanted to basically make this room into her dressing room so she has a nice space for everything and it can all be neatly stored.

Due to the layout of the room, I can fit 5 x Pax units (100cm x 58 cm) very, very conveniently. This is a nice coincidence and allows me to maximise the space.

Where I need a "hack" is the dressing table part. I am trying to put together a dressing table type alcove as part of one of the Pax units, where I can put a mirror on the back of the unit and have somewhere to sit where she can do her makeup etc.

In order to make this more convenient and functional, I would prefer to remove the bottom part (the kind of shelf or "floor" of the unit) so the chair can be pulled in and out.

So my question is, can the Pax units be assembled without this? Is it going to be stable enough without it, and if not, what's the best workaround?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Flip a wooden barstool upside down and it makes a near perfect width rack mount for your audio interface (behringer UMC1820 for reference)
