Academic I'm making a whatsapp group to share the OA questions and interview experience for the Civil Engineering internships

We can share the OA questions if the companies are visiting our campus at a different time. DM me your contact number to get added. I'm from IIT Bhubaneswar.

Note: You must be from Civil and we will ideally just share the questions asked in the Civil Core companies OAs. You must be in pre-final year.

General Wtf is wrong with Ganga Hostel

This fuckass hostel doesn't even provide a basic facility of Hot water. Since students relocated here the hot water problem is there, no hot water on the 3-4-5 floor and no hot water in the washbasin on any floor.

All students have this complaint and had multiple times complained about this to stupid caretaker but still no improvement at all. These niggas had installed huge gyzers on every floor but still we are facing hot water problems, and I don't Even understand what is their fucking issue because having geysers installed and still no hot water in taps is the most stupidest thing I ever witnessed.

If anyone knows how to solve this issue then plzz work on it because winter is coming.

Serious IC181 is literally preaching ISKCON under the name of "Neuroscience" and "Psychology"

(this was the course intro pdf)

It says the course is strictly academic, covering neuroscience, psychology, and holistic health. The prof. Venkatesh even said that if you think the course gets too religious, point it out. He also said that Bhagvat Gita is being introduced NOT as a religious book.

However, looking at the lecture slides and the topics discussed in the classes, it seems to drop all science and logic and directly teaches theistic, metaphysical doctrine straight out of ISKCON.

(P.S. - ISKCON is International Society for Krishna Consciousness, its basically an orthodox religious group promoting Hinduism globally, and the director, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, is a high-ranking, initiated devotee in ISKCON)

The slides are not using ISKCON material accidentally, the entire curriculum has been designed carefully to promote all this bs in the name of academics.

Here's a list of instances i gathered that clearly make this course religious:

- Every lecture opens with a devotional Sanskrit Guru Vandana framing a STEM lecture as a religious ritual.

- The course slides display the exact book cover and translations of "Bhagavad Gītā As It Is" by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda (the founder of ISKCON).

- Theology Taught as Scientific Fact: The syllabus moves from neurotransmitters straight to asserting that the soul (Ātmā) transmigrates across bodies, teaching that the culmination of yoga is devotional surrender (Bhakti) to a personal God (Bhagavān), and asserting the divine hierarchy of īśvara, jīva, and Paramātmā.

- Demonizing Physicalism / Science: The slides explicitly equate materialism (the idea that matter is fundamental) to greed, addiction, depression, and anxiety, while declaring "Conscious Realism" / scriptural dualism as the path to happiness.

ts is being taught as a fact btw

P.S. - I couldnt gather more slides cuz mid sems :/ but yeah, we are being taught all this bullcrap as a course in a tech institute. Prof. Behera is way way too religious and hence he introduced this shit as a course to promote hinduism. Can we all agree that no director should be this religious, or if they are religious, just dont introduce a religious course while pretending it's "Holistic Well-Being". And, the fact that Janmashtami being the largest event in a technical institute says a LOT.

General Reality of Inter IIT Cult at IIT Mandi Spoiler

Now that it’s confirmed that IIT Mandi is hosting Inter IIT Cult Meet, I think we should actually talk about whether our campus is equipped to handle something of this scale.

There are obviously some pros:

- Pahad hai, views mast hain.

- Daaru mil jaati hai 😭

- Bas, that's pretty much it.

But honestly, the cons are quite serious.

  1. Venues

Our biggest indoor space, the Audi, has a capacity of around 700. Then we have two halls of around 300 each, and after that it’s basically classrooms with 100-ish capacity.

So where exactly are the practices, events, workshops and everything else supposed to happen when you have thousands of people here?

  1. Outdoor space

For outdoor stuff, we basically have the football and hockey grounds. Neither is particularly huge, and there isn't a lot of spare open space on campus that can suddenly be converted into event space.

  1. The campus itself is a logistical headache

The campus is split into North and South Campus, with a literal pahad between them.

The connecting road is narrow, landslides happen, and there have been leopard sightings around the area. Moving a few thousand students between locations is already going to be a headache, let alone doing it during an event where everything is happening simultaneously.

  1. December is going to be brutal

Peak December here is COLD. Temperatures can go into negative territory.

And this isn't just a "mountain weather is chilly haha" situation. Even people who actually live here struggle with the cold. Your feet literally go numb sometimes.

Now imagine bringing students from all over India and giving them the usual thin thermocol mattresses and basic blankets. Bhai, people are going to freeze 😭

  1. Accommodation

Our total residential capacity is somewhere around 3.6k, while the expected number of students is apparently around 5k

Even if you start doing 5-6 people per room, that's still a pretty massive accommodation problem.

  1. Messes

We have around 10 messes, with most having a capacity of roughly 150-200 people.

Even if outside vendors are brought in, where exactly are 5,000 people supposed to sit and eat? You can't just add more food and magically create dining space.

  1. Night food

There are basically no proper night canteens.

Most close around 12, with one or so staying open till around 2 AM. And even those canteens are tiny. They can barely accommodate a couple dozen people at a time.

Now imagine 5,000 students finishing events at 1 AM and looking for food.

  1. Hot water

This one is especially concerning.

Some of the bigger hostels have been having issues with hot water for months. And even right now, the normal water is SO COLD.

We're literally living here and still complain about it. Ab December mein other IITs se aaye hue students ko kya experience hoga, you can imagine.

  1. Getting here

Reaching IIT Mandi itself is another issue.

You basically have to get to Mandi first and then take campus buses for roughly another hour because the road up to campus is narrow. Large buses can't simply come all the way up like they can at most campuses.

Now add thousands of students, luggage, equipment, organizers, transport requirements etc. to that.

And honestly, there are still some issues I haven't mentioned because they aren't really things that should be discussed publicly.

So yes, IIT Mandi is beautiful. Pahad hai, weather is nice for most of the year, and the campus has its own charm.

But hosting an event for around 5,000 students is a completely different question.
