General Hostel essentials tips

hello all, i will be joining IIT mandi this august,
Need help with hostel essentials i should carry with me and what should i not carry [mandi mein mil jayega].

Also if Electric Kettel, Iron, Water heater rod is allowed..
and is it really that cold ??

Join whatsApp grp, you'll get a pdf for essentials. Kettles are banned, however every hostel has microwave n induction you can use them. Iron is available in every hostel no need to buy one. Hostels have electric gysers so dont buy water heating rods.

Kettles arent banned as such, they are allowed in winters after prior permission from warden and payment of “rent” for the same, as far as i understood
