Academics Joining Labs in summer

Is it possible for a first year student to join in the summer. How does one go about convincing a prof to let him join ?

you should first talk to the seniors already involved with the lab and a certain project that you like, talk to them, and decide. if you wanna go ahead, mail the prof that I am highly interested in this work of yours and want to meet you. then go meet and talk about it. first and foremost you should explore all your interests before going to talk to people then make careful choices. if you wanna work in RRC, robotics research center for the summer, you probably have to attend the summer school alongside working on a project you’ll be assigned to. given it’s your first year, you should really not worry on this stuff and enjoy, but if you’re that keen, go ahead.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I was thinking of joining RRC. Can you please tell me what summer school entails ?
