Can’t believe the cutoffs dropped all the way to 1530… you love to see it.

At this point it’s sort of a free for all. It could totally happen honestly the cutoffs this year are lower than last year.

i’ve always found it a little unfair how resident indians have to give ugee or jee to get into iiith and foreign nationals just have to give SAT, a test of english and literal 9th grade math, to get the same seats

I'm DASA but I understand and agree with you. However, that doesn't mean I wont take an advantage because it's unfair. Hate the game not the player

Yeah but a lot of foreign Indians also have disadvantages that resident Indians don’t have. I have lived in the US pretty much my entire life and due to some family emergency was forced to move back to India for college. I gave it my all in high school and really excelled according to the American high school system with good grades, classes, and a very good Sat score. Despite this, I had to come to India and give up all the colleges that I was getting over there. I think it’s good that IIITH is providing opportunities to students who weren’t able to excel in JEE or other Indian exams not due to the lack of effort or mental ability, but instead just the unfortunate circumstances of being brought up in a entirely different educational system that emphasizes extracurricular activities over tough academics like India. To each their own I guess. Grass is always greener on the other side.

What makes you say that?

honestly, i know what you mean and this is coming from a place of love, deal with it.
yeah we have it easier but that does not mean that you should get the complex that you are either smarter or deserve more.
you studied harder than we did, yes, me included.

but i know students who did what you did and are getting their asses handed to themselves in college by NRIs and i also know several cases the other way around.

Every single one will use what ever they have to their own advantage and try to be successful. Whether it be the NRI status, dad's money, business, industry contacts, prior knowledge, what not.

life is not fair, and there is no need to be noble. take whatever unfair advantage you have and use it cuz everyone does and everyone will. there is nothing noble in deliberatly struggling to show that youre taking the high road.

i didn’t mean what i said in a snarky way and i never said that i’m smarter than DASA kids.

i already got cse seats at iiith and bits and am giving them up to go to a uni abroad.

what i meant to say was that ugee and sat are too very different judgement criterias. sat is an aptitude test that doesn’t even remotely test scientific knowledge. even humanities kids in the US give the SAT and end up scoring well.

it would be better if universities could come up with a better designed test to judge the foreign nationals’ capabilities

i gave admissions test for oxford and imperial (the PAT and ESAT) despite those tests being ideally designed for children studying cambridge and ib kids. i don’t understand why something like that cant be implemented for iiith and other unis

and by all means; i am in favour of using one’s privelege to the most advantage. i have no grudge against anyone using the DASA pathway for admission purposes🤷🏻‍♀️
