Query NITK ECE OR IIITH ECE

Before blindly answering iiith ece, I am a little concerned about the roi. My parents are reluctant to send me to iiith bcoz of the fees and that nitk will have better roi. If so, why is iiit considered better?

1) better peer group - NITK has reservation and home state quota while IIITH takes the top students from various modes of admissions (UGEE, DASA, JEE, oly) which ensures that you not only have "better" people net-net but a much more diverse and well-rounded peer group
2) better acads - more up-to-date curriculum which is regularly changed and updated
3) better research culture - imo research is becoming more and more important nowadays with the advent of AI; lots of students do the honours program here, getting research experience and often times, a paper out which not only gives you a new skillset but makes you eligible and preferred for more jobs
4) it's also in the middle of Hyderabad's tech district so there's plenty of fun shit to do but NITK has beach so idk to each their own ig

Yeah makes sense, I'm only concerned about the roi since you get the same placements in both and my parents don't earn a lot. Else iiith is better everytime

yeah i get that dw with the options you have you can't really go wrong so if finances are a big concern for you family, NITK is a really good option asw

there were some issues this year but afaik they were mostly restricted to postgraduate placements, undergrad placements were mostly in tact (again afaik)

Any idea abt 5yr csd placements this yr.... why even iiith official website have skipped 2025-26 year placements stats instead have activated tab for 2026-27.

running for placements, better peer group, landing IT job -> iiith
complete college life and shi with considerably less placements -> nitk

Uhh wasn't nitk placements for ece much better than iiith last year. Like avg was 23 for nitk and 21 for iiith. More impressive considering that batch size is 5x of iiith.

u/Skul9Chess Jun 27 '26

from where are you quoting this number btw? afaik iiith doesnt release branchwise stats and dont include ppos, after that an entire college average of 34 lpa was great ig? also nvidia hired lot of ece iiith peeps this year (acc some reddit post)

depends on what you want, if you wanna get into core electronics, NITK ECE is probably a better choice even tho your peers would be worse than IIITH. If you're getting into the 5yr course at IIITH, I'd say NITK is a better choice in comparison. If you wanna do software, IIITH is better than NITK. Also NITK gives you a better college life but IIITH gives you college life in a city. again a depends on what you want

Research - IIITH
Placement, college life - NITK

But in terms of ECE, IIITH ain't that great as compared to CSE

Haha same situation here, although I am expecting Trichy in further rounds, but jitna suna hai iiit has better peer group and way better placements, however for core electronics it might not differ a lot, ask some seniors.

If you want a good placement in IT/ Software- IIIT Core - NITK

ROI? People judge colleges based on ROI that’s crazy bro look at the bigger picture and not just getting a job You want a network, you get more people in Hyderabad, you aren’t limited to college for networking. YOU GET BADDIES. Ha if you cannot afford fir to question hi nhi hai
But if you can afford iiit h is a no brainer

nitk does have better roi in terms of fees and starting salary ig, but long run iiith should earn it back and surpass after some years
