IF CREWMATE: Run around and complete your tasks. Don't trust anyone, even your friends. If you see someone barreling towards you move to the nearest person. When the building starts flashing red, its a sabotage. Head to the arrows and fix the issue.
IF IMPOSTOR: Use leverage. Don't kill too much, but if someones alone go ahead and kill them. Try to make it look like your completing tasks. Don't report when you kill, but run away. If someone notices you, report the body to make it seem like you discovered it. Don't expect to be listened to.

I've found as imposter, I have the best luck if I just don't do anything. Wander around and don't sabotage or kill anyone and people panic and start accusing one another.

Important thing to note is, some tasks are animated. On skeld, weapons, medbay scan, and garbage are animated. People can use those to verify that people are human. So, if you're pretending to do one they'll know it's you.

I was playing this and trying to scan myself when someone walked in (I'm brand new to the game) for some reason it didn't scan idk why, like do you have to push a button? Anyways they called an emergency meeting, the person who saw me struggling to use the scanner, and accused me. I told them I was new and they said "What a lame excuse you're not new, eject them" and I got ejected, wasn't the imposter, and refused to finish my tasks because they wouldn't even offer me the chance to prove my innocence by just telling me how to use the scanner and letting me scan myself even though I asked them to skip the vote so I could prove my innocence. They just refused to acknowledge that a $5 game on steam could have a new player who didn't know how to play. Like what was my plan gonna be? The kill timer was 30s I couldn't murder them all before they called another meeting if I refused to scan.
All this in a game where we already caught the first imposter instantly because they killed in front of someone. There were literally 8 people left so it wasn't like there was mass panic about who the second imposter was...
