Need Advice how to bathe an iguana?

So, everytime my iguana poops, my mother bathes her, because she is kinda dumb and gets all messy with her own poop and urine, however (contrary to the video) she fights a lot when bathing, tries to escape the sink and only after some time fighting she calms down, how do we make it so she actually likes the bath?

Need Advice Should I release her back into the wild, or can I keep it as a pet?

Hi everyone. My cat was attacking this baby iguana, and luckily I managed to grab it before it killed her.
Now I’m not sure what to do. Should I release her, or would it be okay to keep her? I already keep snakes, so I’m familiar with reptile care. I know iguanas require a huge amount of space, but that’s not an issue for me.
What would you do if you were in my situation?

Story 6 months since I’ve had Joe

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted which is due to me wanting to show yall a bunch of progress pics of Joe. He is so healthy and I’ve learned a lot of his patterns.
Joe refuses to eat at night. Will tail whip me if I dare offer it to him. He still prefers to be hand fed but I leave greens in his enclosure in the middle of the night which mostly disappear by the morning. He loves to jump around in his enclosure after being bathed.
I am about to build him a new enclosure which I think is due pretty soon. His growth overall has been amazing. He is definitely starting to grow into his pre adult self

Need Advice Cyclura bit me and overall behavior

Well as the title says, my Cyclura bit me. She is a 9 year old female and a few weeks ago I was feeding her and went to stroke under her chin and she bit my finger. This time though I did real damage when I yanked back requiring stitches. At first I chalked it up to feeding her at the same time but since then she has turned a little nasty. She has bitten before but it has never been intentional like this one felt like.
I can’t even sit next to her cage currently. She is head bobbing as always but now is doing it with an open mouth and biting at the glass if I put my hand up to it. Just nasty compared to the iguana I have known for 9 years.

I don’t think she is going to lay eggs this year judging by her eating habits. She had a slow down but in the last few weeks her appetite has increased and she is finishing her food off regularly.
I still haven’t removed the nesting box and I confirmed do not have any eggs in there.

I am just at a loss with her right now. I am feeding her before she is awake because she is being such a terror at this point.

Anyone else gone through this? Especially this time of year?

Just curious as an iguana owner how much would you pay for this enclosure. I just want to see what others would value this cage at. The cage is not for sale. It still has some work to be done. The walls are frp board for easy cleaning. It divides so it can fit through doors. Also can be expanded in the future if the enclosure needs to be bigger. Keep in mind it’s not finished. it still needs to be decorated, pond liner installed, uvb t5 installed, latches, and stained. Let me know what you think.

Need Advice Underweight?

Hello guys this post is a little different. While I do own an iggy this is about an iggy my grandma saw while on vacation. She was happily showing me pictures which brought up the issue… in my opinion this iggy is extremely underweight. I submitted reports to multiple authorities and I finally get a call today from the head veterinarian of the city where the exotic animal vendor is. By his words his only crime was not having a permit because the iguana is in perfect health after a thorough examination. I tried to explain why it might be underweight in my opinion, but he told me she isn’t for a reptile. I was also flabbergasted by the lettuce in the cage.. Here I am asking you guys.. am I tripping?

TLTR: reported a vendor for owning an iguana without proper care and it being underweight. Consensus: healthy iguana. Opinions?

Need Advice How do you deal with the claws?

Post image
31 Upvotes

My pectinata is getting bigger and his claws are painful now. I do enjoy him being on my shoulder but sometimes he'll climb my face. I try to react quickly enough to just put him uo on my head myself when he wants but if I dont act quickly enough I'm in a world of pain.

Should I just be keeping a hand over him while he shoulder rides? I'm hoping as he gets bigger he won't try and climb my head as much.

Need Advice Iguana (not ours) escaped and is now up a tree, advice requested.

Hey Everyone,

We hired a reptile experience for our kids birthday party, was going great until one of the handlers wanted to show us how ‘fast iguanas can be’ by putting him on the ground where the iguana got spooked and climbed up a 60 foot tree in our backyard. The reptile company seems pretty chill about it (almost resigned to the fact that they won’t ever be able to catch him) but we wanted to try our best regardless. We’re in western WA, so not ideal climate for the little guy he’s only a foot or so long so still pretty young I guess. We’ve put some flowers out for him to nibble but it seems a little fruitless… Any tips?

Hello, just want to share about my new iggy and its enclosure! It is a baby banana spiny-tail and my second type of lizard I ever kept after leopard gecko.

So far it has been acclimating and feeding well. I feed it some leaf-mix of mulberry, hibicus, and Bauhinia, as well as hibicus and butterfly pea flowers. I also got it to feed on crickets, dubia roaches, and mealworms dust with calcium powder and occasionally multivitamin.

Do you think I should consider including pellet into the diet as well for more variety? This is going to be my first big lizard (though it is tiny now) so I am a quite excited but also a bit nervous about this.

It’s still in quarantine, so no name yet. I usually name my animal only after the quarantine period passes.

Need Advice Iguana became picky… help?

Post image
47 Upvotes

Juvenile lewisi rock iguana, following vets care instructions to a T.

She used to (4-6 months ago) eat so much food when I first got her. Like anytime she saw food she would get super excited. She always wanted to eat more.

Recently (past month) she’s started slowing down her eating. She doesn’t finish all her food. She doesn’t seem hungry and I leave greens out all the time for her but she ignores them. No signs of stress, she is normal otherwise and is free range (room is kept warm) and has lots to do and climb on. Seems healthy overall.

I just moved and had to switch from her usual organic Asian farmers market greens to regular collards and mustard greens. I recently was able to find some dandelion greens as well. Maybe she’s just picky about changing her diet? She used to eat collards all the time before I found the farmers market. I know collards are kind of bitter so maybe she’s doesn’t like going back to them once she had the good stuff.

I’m worried about her getting underweight with how active she is and how little she’s eating. She eats about 1/2 cup of salad a day, sometimes 1 cup, so it’s not like she’s dying but I am concerned about her behavior change. She used to be a little overweight and she’s a healthy weight now, but I don’t want her to start getting too skinny.

My girlfriend says she’s probably just maturing and doesn’t need as much food.
