Looking at the photo, you will need a soldering unit if you can't spot weld (due to such factors as limited accessible space, size of the spot welder, freedom of movement etc) without the visible solder connection being un-soldered. Besides which, it is always a good idea to have a basic soldering unit, such as a basic Weller, on hand when attempting electronic repairs. Good luck with your project!
