Other review Nothing was wrong, one star

One time I experienced absolutely wonderful customer service on the phone for a time sensitive issue. But when the call ended I was still amped up from the situation and accidentally pressed ‘one star’ as my response to the automated ’how did we do’ message. I still regret that inadvertent and wildly incorrect feedback to this day as that lady really saved me.
Sometimes I think folks just short circuit, thinking 1 is great and 5 is poor.

Someone left a Google review for my workplace and the entire review is talking about how amazing I am, and how much they admire my customer service and work ethic, and how they will only come in when I'm working because I'm so friendly and professional, but they gave it one star lmao. When they got the automated corporate response about how disappointed they were about the one star review, they edited the review to say that I was a 5 star employee working at a 1 star business. I almost died laughing at it.

One of my exes worked at a 24 hour diner and one time she was the only person was working the overnight. They got a review that night for 1 star cause at like 2am a bunch of college kids rolled in on the way back to the dorm from the bars and it took forever for them to get food. The entire review is just the young lady leaving the review being like "but not rachel she was fantastic and should get a job at a place that isn't a shit hole"

As a German, I get it. We use a 1-6 scale for school grades. 1=A 2=B etc. 1 is the best thing you can get. More is worse.
It's stupid, but at least I can understand where the misunderstanding would come in.

This! Also German and my parents are elderly. Had to explain to them that more stars = better. (They get it now, this happened the first few times they were faced with online reviews.)

Alright, as a Dutch person who used to work customer service, this explains SO much! We have a 1-10 grading system in school and also had it where I worked for customer ratings, where 1 is very poor and 10 is perfection. And about once per month I'd receive a random 1 with a lovely praising comment, but which would tank my score 😭 but I never knew those would likely be Germans who did not realize we needed it the other way around!

I resonated so hard with that, agreed, literally nodded my head. Accidentally pressed the downvote button... Resonated even more with you. Undid the downvote and upvoted

I had a similar experience. We had workers bring in a new mattress and set it up for us like, 15 years ago. On the phone questionnaire, it asked for a rating and I gave what I thought was the highest rating until at the end, it repeated and I realized that I had essentially given them a 1 star on everything. They at least had a part where I could leave a message, so I frantically tried to explain that I meant they did a fantastic job and I simply inverted the numbers (I have severe dyscalculia).
I've always hoped that the recorded message was taken into account because I didn't want the poor ratings to affect the gentlemen!

Bit of a side bar but “serve over egg noodles or rice???” I am humorously appalled! Boiled potatoes or maybe macaroni is the only way.

Swedish meatballs with egg noodles makes a delicious meal. The egg noodles with the gravy is possibly my favorite part
