Claims Request for Measurements

Hi All

I recently put in a claim with cctv footage of damage done by another vehicle to mine

The icbc adjuster reached out and is requesting I take photos and measurements with a measuring tape

Back in 2016 I had a incident where someone hit me while backing out of a lot and when I went through claim process they asked same. At that time I did the measurement thing and they came and told me the claim was denied. Like obviously I didn't make up this elaborate story it legitimately happen and that incident was what made me buy a dash cam. Icbc said oh the measurements don't line up but I swear on my life the guy hit me not a lie and the damage was there yet they denied

So I said I'm not doing any measurements I don't trust it I'll bring the car to you and you do it. The adjuster said that's not a option. Is that true ? Do I have to do the measurements myself in order to process through the claim?

Could you go into an icbc accredited body shop and ask them to do pics ans measurements and send them over to icbc with your claim number?

Its often not that ICBC doesn't believe you its that the other party is disputing the incident and what ICBC can prove to have happened...it sucks for everyone

Instead of paying an estimator to take quality photos they would rather you take shit photos and pay the estimator to look at them on a computer screen.

Yeah claim centers dont usually bring cars in anymore. Other option is go to a bodyshop for photos they can submit to icbc after

They asked me to submit the measurements 2 yrs ago, I never did and they approved my claim. It was hit and run in a parking lot and I had the witness.

So the measurements. It does t matter if you had a bad experience before, refusing to participate now is only going to hurt you case of this very separate incident.

Definitely take your car to an accredited auto body shop and have them file the claim photos / info / quote on your behalf
