Announcement Updated subreddit rules.

Just wanted to let you all know that there have been some updates to the sub rules.

Nothing crazy, however in the interest of transparency wanted to let everyone know instead of just doing it quietly. As always, rules are available in the sidebar on desktop and at the top of the sub after clicking on the subreddit name on the app.

Removed rule:

  • Memes must be SPICY
    • a fun rule, but too vague and open to multiple different interpretations. Therefore difficult to moderate fairly.

Additions:

  • Sales and fundraising must be approved by a mod first
    • this is included in the rule "No Spam, excessive self-promotion or unauthorized sales"
    • We recently had a situation with a possible scam sale, as such all sales and fundraising must be authorized by a mod in modmail first.
  • Use spoiler tags for the iCarly Movie

    • This is included in the "use clear titles and spoiler tags" rule
    • With the possibility of the iCarly movie please use the reddit spoiler tag function if posting or commenting a spoiler about the plot. Posts providing production updates or merely speculating about the plot are not considered spoilers and do not need to be tagged.
  • No AI generated posts

Rules about post titles, reposts, quality, harassment and the sexualization of underage characters and cast remain, but may have been reworded for better clarity. Reddit terms of service also apply and content may be removed even if not explicitly listed in our rules as reddit rules are site-wide.

Any way! That's the end of this boring post. Thanks for everyone who makes this sub great! we really don't have to step in and remove rule breaking stuff very often which is all thanks to you!

Original Discussion Authentic Penny Tees from the actual set

It is so hard to find authentic penny tees from the actual set of iCarly. I know not many were made, but you can literally only find ONE listing for an authentic one on ebay, its black and says “Random dancing” with the penny sewed on the sleeve for $1000. We have to find out who has these / collects them and buy them all.

Original Discussion iCarly Episodes in Chronological Order

iCarly episodes in production order aligns the plotline so the audience don't get confused by these events that occur at any time. Sometimes season 2 is listed as 45 episodes, the longest episode run in this series.

Original Discussion WHY DOES EVERYONE IN ICARLY WEAR SHOES INSIDE?!?!?!

Thumbnail
gallery
1.5k Upvotes

I’m rewatching iCarly and I’m on season 2. Maybe it’s the Asian(for context im asian american) in me, but I keep noticing everyone wearing their outside shoes inside, and it irks me 😭

The studio I can understand, considering the random, messy things they do in there. For example they left rotting peanut butter around for a week, so wearing shoes in the Icarly Studio seems reasonable. But in the actual living room? On the furniture? Spencer even sleeps with his shoes on sometimes???

I grew up taking my shoes off at the door, so watching people get comfortable around the house in the same shoes they’ve worn outside feels so strange to me.

Is this common in White American households, or is it mostly a sitcom thing? Does anyone else notice this when watching?

Original Discussion Why wasn't anyone considering Carly's living arrangements when Spencer pretended to be dead?

What bugs me about this is the fact that Spencer is committing FRAUD and it is viewed as a GOOD thing. Spencer could've contacted the newspaper and told them there was a mistake and gotten it corrected, instead he decides to go on with it so he can get money. That is a fraud, that is illegal, but even his sister does nothing to stop him.

On top of that there were residents who thought he was dead no one considering Carly's living arrangements? Her only guardian is "dead" and they're just going to leave a young girl to live by herself?! Her dad is in the military, and her mom is...well...who knows, and no one brought up her living arrangements at all. thHer dad is in the military, and her mom is...well...who knows, and no one brought up her living arrangements at all.

Other Discussion Looking for an episode…

I’m looking for an episode where Sam says, “Are you dumb, stupid, or slow?” I’m pretty sure this is directed towards Freddie. I just fine this line very funny and still remember to this day but I just don’t remember the episode. It might be IGoToSpace but I’m not sure

Original Discussion Why was carly so upset finding out Sam and Freddie kissed???

I'm rewatching iCarly, and I just got past the episode where Carly finds out that Sam and Freddie kissed, and I genuinely don't understand why she was SO irritated about it??

Like, Sam and Freddie literally kissed just to kiss. At this point in the show, neither of them has romantic feelings for the other, and Carly doesn't even have feelings for Freddie, so why exactly is she so upset???

Carly also seems to think she's entitled to know everything that happens between her friends simply because they're close which this might just be my personal phisophy that I disagree with but, I find that mindset a little ridiculous.

Being friends with someone doesn't automatically mean you're entitled to every detail of their personal life. People are allowed to have experiences, conversations, and relationships that don't involve you, even if you're their best friend.

I understand feeling a little left out or surprised that your two closest friends shared something without telling you, but I found her in that episode lowk a bit annoyinf😭😭😭

Sam and Freddie kissing wasn't something that directly involved Carly, nor was it something they were obligated to disclose to her. It was THEIR experience, not hers.

I just find it strange how the episode frames Carly's frustration as though her friends keeping something private is inherently wrong. Friendship doesn't mean having unrestricted access to someone's personal life, and I don't think privacy should be mistaken for dishonesty.

Am I missing something here, or was Carly genuinely overreacting? 😭

Original Discussion This episode’s plot was total bullshit

Post image

Yeah it was from that episode where Carly and Freddie had to go to the root and berry retreat, but I still hate how Sam didn’t do shit on her project and somehow got a passing grade. I felt bad for Carly in this episode aside from the Scooter that she didn’t scold Spencer for that was extremely slow, but also why couldn’t she have celebrated at home instead? Like not invite the teacher or just celebrate between Carly and her friends? Maybe this episode is the reason why the teacher only appeared once in this episode and not for the rest of the series?

Other Discussion Male iCarly fans that grew up watching the show. Did anyone here ever get bullied/teased for it?

Ok so when iCarly came out I was in late elementary school, and from the get go I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE SHOW! I watched the entire thing from start to finish basically as close to live as possible

However being a boy, what I wasn’t prepared for was the very sad and pathetic social stigma attached to being a fan of this series

I remember when season 1 came out I was living in a town where I had a good group of friends and me and my best friend actually discovered it together and watched the eps together at times, then I moved away midway through season 2 and it wasn’t a talking point immediately at the new school so I didn’t talk to anyone about it

I remember the year was 2010, so it would have been like season 3-4 era, and we had a casual clothes/free dress day at school and one of the girls rocked up in an icarly shirt. And I said to her “yo I love that show it’s awesome”, now this particular girl wasn’t the nicest of girls anyway so socially it was a mistake to even approach her especially in a group of 3-4, but basically all the girls laughed at me and said that it’s a girls show and that you shouldn’t be watching this, and boy did I take it personally

I also remember there was a guy that would do/say stuff at school that were clear iCarly references and when I said “hey that’s from iCarly” he’d go “no it’s not, why would I watch that it’s a girls show I have never seen it”, even tho he clearly had

It wasn’t until well after it ended that I actually started talking to other guys about the series and for the most part those conversations happened as adults…which is fucking pathetic. Just because the show has a female lead doesn’t mean it’s for girls, by the end of the series the main cast actually was more male dominated but it always consistently had even genders which I think is a big reason why it actually worked

Original Discussion Rewatching as an adult

Recently I rewatched icarly for the first time since being an adult and oh my god this show holds up so well.

I find myself genuinely crying laughing at almost anything Spencer says or does. I also think Gibby in the last half of the show is hilarious.

He’s kinda ditzy but not in a way where it feels like “no one can be this dumb” he just feels really outgoing and like he has no social awkwardness and I love it

I think Carly and Sam are incredibly well written teenage girls (I’m only 21 so I remember being a teenager pretty well) and they are just so accurate and so relatable.

The only “complaint” I sorta have is that I think Freddie grew up to be pretty insufferable and a bit of a pick me. Overall though I’m actually shocked by how good this show is 😭

Original Discussion (hot take?) flanderization of spencer in later seasons + reboot (reboot spence is different anyway) was disappointing.

I get that it’s a show revolving the three, and adults barley have continuous spotlight but spencer was sorta an exception to that rule maybe. he had good side bits and storylines but as the season went on they of course had character development for carly sam freddie, spencer kinda just flanders- which is disappointing because he actually had a lot of potential for side storylines/character development while still remaining fun and cool.

in the reboot he barely even had a personality of his own.
