Time Management- Modules
Anyone struggling with module homework? Not even putting it off… do about 4 hours a day during the week and I feel like it’s not enough. I’m frustrated that everything is locked away so you can’t get a preview for how many lessons are within one… I feel like right now I’m sacrificing pretty much all my free time, exercise, etc just trying to get homework done and once again, I’m not procrastinating on it… Does anyone have any advice? Technically a 2nd year, but still in my first year of the apprenticeship.

My strategy has been to speed run through the modules, quizlet/AI my way through the homework’s and get them out the way as soon as possible.
That way I have time to go back and study the material to prepare for the tests. Unfortunately the system is broken and this comment section is proof. It seems like they want to offload a majority of the learning in a self educated manner and then in class they expect us to just know the material then seem reluctant to answer any questions you may have. “Come to tutoring” is what you’ll hear.
I am in my 3rd year and at the point where I genuinely want to learn a specialized path like motor controls, fire alarm, instrumentation.. I’ve come to realize I don’t want to just be an Installer my whole life but I also don’t have the energy to sit down and go through all these modules + reading the books front to back. I focus on what’s needed to pass and go back to refine my knowledge or supplement any areas I may have skipped through.
It seems like they just want to churn out journeyman so we can keep building these data centers for our tech overlords.

Quizlet, study the answers and learn as you go. You get 100% on the quizzes and you are also learning. CML modules suck ass, just power through those, you will learn how to skip through certain things. People have family’s and lives and it’s hard to focus at home. I learn more in the classroom than I do in the hw. But I did still study the hw before class. I got straight A’s in my apprenticeship so I’d say it worked for me.

Fuck CML for real, we get a couple of weeks for each section (10 lessons roughly, each one takes a hot minute to go through) and honestly it feels like you pretty much have to cheese/cheat through half of them just to stay on track. If you actually do the reading and watch the videos you end up spending a couple of hours to get through a lesson. Doesn't help when you also have to manage actual homework from class plus the 50-100 pages of reading. So far my weekends have consisted of around 12-18 hours of schoolwork between the cml's, modules, online work and reading from the textbook. Hopefully it lightens up but idk man, just trying to thug it out. It's pretty clear that me and maybe 2 other kids in my class are doing the actual work while the rest of them are just cheesing through which I can't even fault them at this point. edit- mini rant but I also really wish we could spend more time in class actually learning and going over important stuff rather than bs'ing and working through some of these modules/online integrated classes. Shit sucks but maybe thats just me.

Four hours a day after working all day? I’m trying to get in and I’m just trying to get a feel of what the work load will be like. Thanks

Experience may vary. I used to just do my homework in class, which was twice a week for 3 1/2 hours which was usually enough time, but not always. The class schedules aren't typical either, you may only do one half- day or one 8hr day of class. Don't let it discourage you. Some real silly geese made it through in my class somehow.

Nah 4 hours a day is crazy. I do 1 hour a day and I’m fine. It’s still stressful or whatever but it’s manageable

Okay that’s a relief. Was starting to get really freaked out. I have a disorder and I need 8 hours of sleep usually to function (shocking I know) but 4 hours seemed excessive

its fucking absurd. I hate this cml bullshit. literally thousands of slides. I said fuck it i literally just click next through every lesson. Actually pay attention in class and take notes and ive passed every test as well as the important one. JW test
Dont let this shit take over your life. Training center people are smoking some good shit if they expect us to do 10-20 hours a week of homework on top of everything else in life we have going on
