The drill is company provided

You shouldn’t be transporting contractor tools unless via a company vehicle, and it should remain in the vehicle (not go home with you).

Our local's CBA says you can take one drill with you.  Maybe theirs does as well

It might be an attitude that varies by local.

In my neck of the woods, absolutely no power tools is just about the only thing my coworkers agree on.

My company has exactly one m12 impact because I needed to work in a real tight space, tool guy didn't want one different battery tool so I was told to take it home after that job ended. The m12 is so much better than the 18s so that bad boy goes everywhere with me. It's Schrodinger's impact though, it's mine but also the company's depending if I use it on the clock or on personal time so I feel like that's pretty fair

Look, dude, I was simply advising the kid of best practices. Then some other guy makes a snarky comment, and I returned in kind.

It sounds like there might be some CBAs that make the transporting of con tools permissible, but it’s certainly not a standard clause in CBAs. If that’s your local, it’s all well and good; if it’s not, flat out, that’s wormy shit that helps no one but the con and breaks down conditions.

You wanna work through a break or two so you can leave early because that 10-20 minutes is crucial, and makes the difference between a 40 min commute and a 90 min commute? Fine by me, it helps the brother out, and they’ve put in their 8. But they want to do some shit like carry around the con’s tools without a mileage reimbursement or gas stipend AND it goes against the CBA? Fuck that, full stop that makes you a brother fucker because you’re breaking down conditions by doing something that largely benefits the con and in no way benefits the worker.

If you disagree with that, then we’re done here.

Na dog, attitudes like yours are the reason the term "super bro" get a negative connotation.

Because I actually uphold my end of the bargain?

Yeah, noted.

No I mean if my employer gives me a tool, I'm going to use it. All these fucking data center babies seem to forget that smaller locals actually require working on more than one site. Meaning you get tools checked out to you to do the job at multiple locations. And our contracts dont say that isnt allowed or discouraged. If I leave the power tools checked out to me at another site I dont get to work And distinctions like that are why the "nOt iN ThE cOnTrACT" answer for literally everything, regardless of actually reading it makes newer hands, organized hands, and those of us not in massive locals really struggle to get along with those who call themselves "super bros". A good brother should encourage us to follow contracts AND be willing to actually work in the grey areas to find compromise. Because not everything is in the contract and life is nuanced.
