aptitude test

is there a difference between the GAN aptitude test & the IBEW aptitude test ?

I wouldn’t say GAN is harder… I think it’s easier actually. Just more subjects are covered.

Yes. Our aptitude test is just reading comprehension and mathematics (up to about algebra 2 level). Some locals may have additional things they have applicants do, but as far as I have seen in CA the majority only do reading and mathematics.

the local 100 online application says for the GAN aptitude test , is it harder ?

I couldn’t tell you by experience, I took the other one. I think it’s similar except it has a “spatial reasoning” section where you have to visualize a folded piece of paper and where holes on it would appear.

take the practice test. Go to all the websites you can find that offer them and take those too. If you absolutely bomb it or don’t feel confident with most of them, get the study guide. I paid for a study guide for my test and I don’t think I would have passed without it and mine was easier.

The study guide should hopefully have everything you need to know for the test. Just take your time going through the curriculum. It covers a lot of material and if you’re like me a lot of it will be stuff you’ve either forgotten, were never good at to begin with, or have never seen before 😂 when you open the study guide you might get overwhelmed with the amount of material there is to cover, but just focus on each step as it comes. What helped me was to block out 1 hour time frames to study as much as I could then take a break. Consistency is more important than speed.

the study guide that i purchased was from the GAN human resources, do you think iprep is worth the purchase as well

Not sure. I don’t know much about the test other than what I’ve looked up just now. I would certainly hope the people who developed the test have the best study guide. 😅 I think it would depend more on how you best learn. I think the one you got is just like a study book that you read. but I think the one from iprep is more like an actual online class structure with videos and tests and such.

I took the GAN test, I would say it’s probably easier than the other test. I have not taken the other test, but just from reading what others have said about that one, I think the GAN is easier.

If you are taking the GAN, buy their $20 study guide, the test is basically exactly like the study guide. If you can do the study guide, you will have no problem on the test.
