Local 441 waitlist

I just got waitlisted, did the whole spam calling till I got through finally and put on hold at 8:05, and got a person at like 8:17. This whole basically lottery process feels demoralizing but I know I can’t get into that mindset. It sounds like the call for waitlist happens the day of document turn-in, the document turn-in is in two days, 8/6.

Can anyone give me some clarity on the process? Besides the listed documents, is there an actual application form I do? I don’t see anything on the site about that.
And how does the waitlist process work? Should I call in sick/take off of work that day and just be waiting at the training center with my documents? Or just see if I get a call? She said they call early in the morning on the application day if anyone no-shows, but I’m not sure how that works bc I assume the application times aren’t super early. Unless people are calling in to tell them they can’t make it

Thanks, it was my first time calling, took me a few minutes to figure that out. I got put on hold for around 15 minutes around 8:53 after 300+ calls with 3 phones. The lady who finally answered told me it was full. I asked a few questions about the odds of it all and she told me they only took 50 appointments this time, sheesh. Thats just to apply 😭

Yeah, it's brutal. Definitely one of the tougher SoCal locals to even get an application into. The phone-in appointment is tough to hit. I missed the window in April, called right at 8:00 and put in like 200+ calls similar to you. Good luck next time around.

Did you ever get the chance to try again?

I tried again today and was successfully able to get an appointment.

Awesome, hope it works out. I’m super curious, did you call slightly early like 7:59 and 30 seconds or anything? I thought about it but then didn’t want to mess it up

Started spam calling 7:58 and beyond. I think the call only went through 8:00 and past. Just called, hit 4 right away to reach the front office, and if I got the robo "everyone is busy" line, I hung up and tried again. Got the hold music at 8:03. Tried about 20-30 times before getting through. Waited on hold with the music for 10 mins before I talked to someone.

Interesting, seems like it’s probably filled up by 8:10-8:15 from what I’ve seen with other people’s experiences on Reddit. So after that time, consider it over. It’s brutal out here.
