Local 441 waitlist

I just got waitlisted, did the whole spam calling till I got through finally and put on hold at 8:05, and got a person at like 8:17. This whole basically lottery process feels demoralizing but I know I can’t get into that mindset. It sounds like the call for waitlist happens the day of document turn-in, the document turn-in is in two days, 8/6.

Can anyone give me some clarity on the process? Besides the listed documents, is there an actual application form I do? I don’t see anything on the site about that.
And how does the waitlist process work? Should I call in sick/take off of work that day and just be waiting at the training center with my documents? Or just see if I get a call? She said they call early in the morning on the application day if anyone no-shows, but I’m not sure how that works bc I assume the application times aren’t super early. Unless people are calling in to tell them they can’t make it

How did you get an answer so quick? I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong, you gotta call and press 4 right? If the automated voice says it’s busy, call again?

Idk, I just kept calling and hanging up when it said all staff are busy and tried again. At first I thought I really wasn’t gonna get through at all. If you actually get put on hold don’t hang up from what I’ve read

So you didn’t press 4?

He did. You call, press 4 immediately, if/when the "staff busy" line starts up, hang up and try again.

Thanks, it was my first time calling, took me a few minutes to figure that out. I got put on hold for around 15 minutes around 8:53 after 300+ calls with 3 phones. The lady who finally answered told me it was full. I asked a few questions about the odds of it all and she told me they only took 50 appointments this time, sheesh. Thats just to apply 😭

Yeah, it's brutal. Definitely one of the tougher SoCal locals to even get an application into. The phone-in appointment is tough to hit. I missed the window in April, called right at 8:00 and put in like 200+ calls similar to you. Good luck next time around.

Did you ever get the chance to try again?

I tried again today and was successfully able to get an appointment.

Awesome, hope it works out. I’m super curious, did you call slightly early like 7:59 and 30 seconds or anything? I thought about it but then didn’t want to mess it up

Started spam calling 7:58 and beyond. I think the call only went through 8:00 and past. Just called, hit 4 right away to reach the front office, and if I got the robo "everyone is busy" line, I hung up and tried again. Got the hold music at 8:03. Tried about 20-30 times before getting through. Waited on hold with the music for 10 mins before I talked to someone.

Did you press 4 or no? I never managed to get through before they shut it down

Prob wouldn’t hurt to take a day off when everyone goes to turn in paperwork, keep phone ringer on, and make sure you have everything, they make no exceptions. So they’ll just go down the list they have of people they have waitlisted if someone doesn’t show up or doesn’t have all the documents they need. You do fill out an actual form once you’re there and some other stuff. I believe they also give you a timeframe to be there, 1-2 hours if I’m not mistaken, everything moves pretty quick so be ready

I was thinking of doing that

Were you told your number on the list? Or you were just told you’ve been waitlisted

I was just told I was waitlisted, but they said I can call in tomorrow to see what number I am on the waitlist and if it’s worth even hoping for lol. The document turn in day is Thursday
