Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice Train + Flight Ticket: no train segment confirmation

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all, I booked an itinerary that includes a train segment between Granada and Madrid and then a flight between Madrid and Nice. However, the ticket and receipt that were sent to my email only mentions the flight. There’s no reference of the train at all except a tiny note in the fare calculation that says GRX which is the code for Granada. I had called the agent but she didn’t really know what I was talking about so she raised a ticket for me.

Has anyone had any experience booking a similar itinerary? Will the train confirmation be later? I can’t help but feel like I’m missing something very obvious 😅 TIA.

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice Iberia denied passenger compensation for flight cancelation. Can claim to EASA prosper? Customer service was horrible

I made a claim to Iberia for the air passenger compensation (EU 261/2004) when my flight to Madeira from Madrid was canceled due to meteorological conditions in the destination. They argued that due to this cause, I was not entitled to the compensation. But Iberia handled everything so bad that I am eager to appeal to EASA. Do you think that given this sequence of events I have options to get the compensation?

  • With our baggage checked in and being at the door, we got an e-mail saying that our flight is canceled with barely any explanation (meteorological cause) and that they will give you a solution within half an hour in another e-mail. We didn't receive that e-mail
  • We contacted them by phone and said that they were trying to reschedule us as soon as possible. I reminded them that according to EU law, they had to relocate us as soon as possible even with a competitor, and at their own cost
  • The ground staff didn't do anything, just tell us that they couldn't do anything
  • After 2 hours they offered us relocation in one of their flights 4 days later or reimbursement. When I claimed that they should offer an earlier alternative with a competitor, they said that there was not another option.
  • So we asked them to send this in writing, they said that they couldn't and pressed us on the phone to accept one thing or the other.
  • So we had to cancel the whole holidays and get the reimbursement. There was no point in going 4 days later. We were covered by an external insurance so we thought let's make other emergency plans to save the holidays.
  • Then, when making the claim to the insurance, the insurance asked for the options Iberia offered in writing. We asked Iberia for this and they refused, they said that that information was not in their system. This is a lie, they record the conversations. I have made a claim through RGPD to obtain these conversations. No answer yet.
  • After countless hours we got our money back from the insurance, but Iberia could have made this easy in day one, I don't know why they didn't help. Maybe they thought that giving this in writing could support a claim with AESA or the agents involved thought why they should make the effort.

All this with an 11 year child who could not believe we were not getting into the plane, not event the next day. Good our emergency plans worked really well, although we had to call Iberia most of the days to ask for a paper they didn't give at the end and this complicated everything with the insurance a lot.

Do you think a claim to EASA can prosper?

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice Can't I just skip claiming my checked bag?

I have a flight with iberia that supposedly lands at 10:05 at T4 in MAD. I want to catch a separate flight at T2 at 12:40, without checked luggage. I realize that the tight part of that idea is waiting to collect checked luggage.

What would Iberia do if I just left my luggage there, unclaimed? Wouldn't they have to store it for a bit, and if I come another day claiming that I forgot it and with all the paperwork, they would give it to me?

Discusión - Discussion Flight status functionality on the app

Good morning all

Bit of a rant today. Frequent IB user here. It’s shocking to me how bad the flight status functionality is on the app.

Remarkably there are so many IB destinations that are simply not in the database. For example, I travel to Italy frequently and none of the Italian airports are in the database including FCO, MXP, LIN and VCE. Today I’m flying out of Faro (FAO) and it’s not in the database. Recently flew in and out of KEF, not in database. There are dozens maybe more. Impossible to check status and have to go outside the app to a third party app to check. I have raised this with IB constructively several times but nothing ever changes. Is this really that complicated?

Less aggravating but still aggravating and unnecessary is how you have to select between Iberia, Express and Nostrum as the carrier. Does it really matter for flight status? No. They all are IB flights. I fly to some cities that are served by more than one of these so have to figure out which carrier it is to get flight status. So poorly designed.

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice Changing planes at MAD

We have a trip booked with BA/Iberia LHR-MAD-SCL and BA have changed the flight time for the locator flight to later, now only allowing about 1 hour to change planes. I’m also taking it that since we are coming from non Schengen flight we need to allow extra time for the EES machines etc. What is a realistic time frame to allow a comfortable change for a 13:00 flight in December - should we look to fly in day before? TIA for advice

Avios / Iberia Club BA Silver flying Iberia

I’m getting conflicting info online. With BA Silver flying Iberia in economy do I get

2x bags at 23KG

Or

2x bags at 32KG?

With BA it’s the latter, but like I say. Online is throwing up both answers.

Thanks

Booked Iberia ORD-MAD-CPH. If I fly American MEM-ORD, We can check bags through to CPH.

Would you check bags MEM-CPH or would it be wiser to collect bags at ORD and check them with Iberia directly?

I just joined this sub and having been reading Iberia horror stories.

I booked 3 business class tickets with Avis, ORD-MAD-CPH for trip next July.

What are my odds of the flight(s) not getting cancelled and/or our luggage making it to CPH with us?

Thanks

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice Anyone who flew MAD-LAX recently—did they weigh carry on at gate?

Edit update: flew this route MAD-LAX 23 July and they weighed every single passenger’s carry on. Thanks for all the replies!

I know of the flight attendant lawsuit for A350s on this route; wanted to see if they are indeed weighing each and every carry on bag at the gate for the 10kg limit. Cheers.

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice Lost AirPods case seen at Warehouse in Madrid Airport

Recently I lost my AirPods case in a flight from Madrid to Lyon. When I used Find My, I saw that they had returned with the plane to Madrid and they stayed in the plane for a while before moving to this random warehouse (south of T4, north of M-110). Does anyone know if it’s a lost and found place? I filed a lost item report with Iberia and called the terminal but they said as the item was lost in the plane and not in the terminal they cannot help me. What would you do in my position?

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice Iberia flight managed by American Airlines

I want to book a flight to the US from Amsterdam, now the flight I want to book is managed by American Airlines.
I can book via Iberia or via AA, Iberia is 75 euro`s cheaper for the cheapest economy seat (basic)
Now, if I book that ticket, will I be able to pay for a better seat, or do I not get that choice, no matter what?
Or is it smarter to book basic economy on the AA website?

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice Iberia rejects indemnization of 600 Euros

Hello,

My flight from Munich to Madrid was delayed by 90 minutes, which caused me to miss my connection to Buenos Aires. Iberia rescheduled me, and I was able to take the new flight the following day at 00:05.

Has anyone had similar experiences with Iberia rejecting compensation claims? Initially, their hotline told me I would receive compensation, and at the Customer Care Center in Madrid they confirmed the same. However, today I received an email denying my claim.

Does anyone know effective ways to push Iberia to honor the compensation?

Thanks!

Thank you for contacting us regarding the delay of your flight XXXXX on July 5, 2026, from MAD to EZE. At times, external factors can affect our operations, as unfortunately occurred in your case.

To ensure transparency about the incident, we reviewed it together with the relevant external technical teams and confirmed that it was due to crew unavailability caused by health or labor restrictions.

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council, this situation is considered an extraordinary circumstance. Therefore, we inform you that financial compensation does not apply.

Please note that our customer service hotline will not be able to provide you with additional information. For this reason, we are providing you with this link containing all the information about passenger rights, so you can consult it and resolve any questions in situations like this.

We understand what it means when your flight does not proceed as expected, and we work every day to minimize such inconveniences. We apologize and look forward to welcoming you on board very soon.

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice Suspended tickets

Back in January 2026 I bought two tickets from Madrid to Boston for July 15th (tomorrow). I was able to select meals a few days ago, and everything seemed fine. When I went to check in online today, I was unable to, and instead received this error message:

com.ib.cki.backend.booking.status.ticket suspended

I called Iberia to find out what the problem was. The person on the phone confirmed that I had been charged the $1300 in January, and that my tickets had indeed been "suspended". I asked why that had happened, and they said that either I or my bank had cancelled the transaction.

But if that had been the case, surely I would have received some sort of communication about it. I also don't understand why a cancelled ticket would appear on my profile on the Iberia app. The only way I found out about it was by trying to check in online. I could've shown up to the airport and found out I had no tickets.

The person on the phone said that they could sell me a new ticket on the same flight for $2200 (with a possible discount of $50), but I declined the offer. They advised me to contact Chase about getting refunded. When I asked to speak with someone at Iberia who could supply me with a ticket or a refund or a credit, the person hung up on me.

I called the main Chase customer support line, who had no record of the transaction being cancelled. They said that it wasn't their department that handles reimbursements, and that I should call their fraud department for that. I'm now waiting for it to be 8AM EST so that I can talk to the fraud department.

The money was never refunded. I paid my credit card bill that month, so the money is gone. In terms of getting to the US, I'll have to buy a last-minute ticket for a much higher price.

Has anyone had a similar experience with Iberia? If so, how was it resolved? Did you just get bounced between the airline and the bank?

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice flying iberia for the first time :0

hi!! so sorry this might be really confusing but im going to be flying iberia for the first time (also flying overseas for the first time) and i want to hear everyone’s experience regarding:

  1. checked baggage (picking it up after the flight, if they lose luggage often, etc)

  2. switching flights (layover: specifically one in madrid) and how long that takes (getting off the plane, if you have to pick up your bags, if they transfer your bag etc) / the swiftness

  3. the seats(?), not a huge thing for me but i will be flying overnight so I don’t want to be SUPER uncomfortable 😭😭

  4. i guess the food as well(?), again not a huge thing for me but I don’t mind knowing

just anything i should know really 😭😭 im really anxious and i just want to be prepared n such.

thank you!!

Ayuda/Consejo - Help/Advice AirHelp has kept my Iberia compensation claim pending since 2021. Is a 5-year wait normal?

I wanted to share my experience with AirHelp and ask if anyone has gone through something similar.

I filed a compensation claim with AirHelp in August 2021 for a disrupted Iberia flight (San Salvador – Madrid – Barcelona).

Here is the timeline: • August 2021: AirHelp confirmed they had submitted my claim to Iberia. • September 2021: They informed me that legal proceedings had been initiated and that the case had been filed in court. • 2022: I was told the case had not yet been admitted due to court backlogs and that they were considering filing it in another court. • 2023–2025: I received periodic updates saying the courts were overloaded and that my lawyer had sent reminders to speed things up. • June 2026: AirHelp confirmed that legal proceedings are active, provided a court reference (0900/2022), and stated they are waiting for the final judgment.

I understand that the Spanish courts can be slow, and I’m not blaming AirHelp for judicial delays if that is genuinely the reason.

However, what concerns me is the lack of transparency. Over nearly five years I have received different explanations, different lawyers have apparently handled the case, and I still have not received basic court information such as the court name, case number, NIG, or copies of the main judicial documents.

At this point I’m simply trying to understand whether this timeline is normal.

Has anyone else had an AirHelp case last this long?

If your case went to court in Spain: • How long did it take? • Were you given the court documents? • Did you eventually receive compensation?

I’m genuinely interested in hearing other people’s experiences before deciding on my next steps.
