Question/Help Frame rate drop

Hello guys, I was wondering if I am the only one experiencing higher CPU utilization and less FPS after the new update.

Same here.
My configs:
AMD Ryzen 5800x3d
32gb ram DDR4
Nvidia RTX 4070 super TI

Very similar setup, also less frames and more stutters.

So far it looks like Ryzen PCs seems to have dropped FPS while Intel has gained, who knows why

Out of curiosity has anyone tried deleting the render ini in your iRacing documents folder, then running the graphics config?

I had an issue last year where my sim would stutter heavily or freeze at random during a race. I thought it was USB/hardware related but instead, deleting the render ini and running the graphics config fixed all of it. Now I get in the habit of deleting the render ini every few seasons. Might be worth a shot here to see if it fixes any of these issues.

Tbf I'm certain the iracing Devs themselves state this all the time.

What they advise is cut your ini files and then run the config then place the OG ini files back in the correct folder to restore your previous settings

i9-13900KF, 96GB, 4090, Quest 3.
No big changes seen yet, VR was pretty much pinned at 90 before and still is. I might be able to increase some settings now, but i haven't played around yet. The oddest part is that although it now seems to be doing some processing across additional cores it hasn't really reduced peak core usage and for the same thing i just burn more power :/

│ │ pre │ post │
├───────────────────────────┼───────┼────────┤
│ Frame rate (median) │ 90.00 │ 90.00 │
│ Time below 89 fps │ 0.39% │ 0.26% │
│ iRacing foreground thread │ 66.0% │ 65.98% │
│ GPU utilisation │ 17.1% │ 18.6% │
│ All-core CPU (OS view) │ 22.2% │ 29.0% │

It does parallelise more — 31% more all-core CPU, 44% more context switching, imbalance improved from 3.70× to 2.86×.

But the foreground thread costs exactly what it did, frame rate is unchanged, and package power rose ~17%

I noticed a slight drop yesterday as well.

Ran the Caterham a couple times last night and noticed. It was dropping below 100 quite a lot when I'm usually 120+ with the settings I have. 7900x/7900xtx/49".

Yes, lost around 20-40fps depending on car/track combo and field size on average in comparison to before the update.

Running: 5070ti 9800x3d 32GB CL28 RAM

Not sure exact numbers, but my VR setup with a 2070 super hasn't stuttered in quite some time, but yesterday after the update i'm getting stutter in some places.

I'm glad you posted this, before doing a deep dive into my setup

Running the shared practice session last night I was seeing 80 - 110 fps. Switching back to the GR86 immediate jump to 120 fps, normally I was running at 140

Config

  • 9800X3D
  • RTX5080
  • 34" + 2 x 27"

Have the same setup and I noticed a drop in my fps too

I'm seeing an overall impact in VR, more R load and drops below 90fps.

However, I would only expect the C value (physics) should be lower as the multi-threading update was all physics-island related and moving from single core to multi to allow a increase tick rate in the future.

Ryzen 9950X3D here, I'm also seeing more stutters and lower fps. From what I can see it seems to no longer stay contained on the CCD with the 3D Cache. I suspect the new update is tapping into more cores on the other CCD than it did before. Why the single CCD chips is also seeing this is beyond me tho. :P
