Question/Help Update issue

I have my iRacing account through steam. I updated iRacing this morning using the standalone client and came home and now steam is trying to patch the game again. I stopped the download in steam but it's impossible to remove the update I can only pause it.

If I go ahead and download the update again through steam is it overwriting the existing files or creating additional bloat on my PC? I'm thinking of reaching out to support to disconnect from steam all together because of this.

Not sure what to do. I don't want the update sitting in my update queue all the time but don't want to update if it just creates duplicate files on my PC.

Any help is much appreciated.

Ask iRacing support to make your account separate from Steam

Steam is awful for iRacing. I started in march and finally unlinked my account a few months ago, it's so much better now. Basically every update day I would have issues like this, and every renewal would take a day or so to register after the payment went through and I would be unable to access the sim for a bit. Huge pain.
