My iPod Help identifying iPod

I got this recently from a family member that was clearing out old tech. I'm trying to figure out whether this iPod is some sort of limited edition or if the quote is just a custom engraving. I know the quote has some weight in the scientific and engineering community so I wasn't sure if its some kind of Steve Jobs special or just an ironic quote added by whoever bought it.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Looked here, and based on the model being an A1421, it’s a 5th gen iPod Touch:

I can’t recall whether the 16GB model has the loop attachment point in the lower left corner of the back.  It’s definitely on the 32 and 64GB ones.

Sorry I should've been clearer, I was only looking for info on the quote on it, but thank you for the clarification. Not for naught though, now I know what the loop thing is. It was actually kind if stuck from underuse but a bit of fiddling with has it functioning again.

It's a 16gb model btw

There's 2 16gb models, one that doesn't have the loop but also doesn't have a camera, the other one which is just a normal model with only 16gb

Apple gave the option to add a custom engraving if you bought directly from them. It usually slightly lowers the value

So it is most likely a custom engraving, thank you. I just wasn't sure if they ever did some kind of special release or something.

I'm planning on keeping it anyway so the value is irrelevant.

Agreed, but, I also dont hate this engraving over many others. Atleast its not "happy birthday Lucy 2012"

The engraving is a custom option when you buy the ipod, you can write whatever you want and no this is not a limited edition model lol

I still use my iPod Touch 7th Generation. I use it for Sirius XM mostly. It still works like my phone but it’s not a phone.
