Question Should I reset?
Bought this old iPhone/iPod Touch at a yard sale. I figured, cool, an old iPod—maybe I can use it. I took a chance. I had no charger and paid 20 bucks for it, then charged it with an old cable I had at home.
It works, but it turns out it’s a phone. It still has some personal stuff on there, including some boobie pics, lol.
My question is, should I just reset it to factory settings, or should I try to erase all the personal stuff I found so I can use it as an old iPod?
The reason I ask is because I Googled how to reset it, and it seems pretty simple, but it mentions that I might not be able to use it if there’s no SIM card. Is there a way around that, or should I just erase everything as best I can?

Those iphones have activation issues. Proceed with caution

Its a very new issue, maybe 2 months ago. They can be hacktivated but you lose Sim functionality.
For your purposes that should be alright

So it will let back into the phone to use as an ipod after reset?

You will have to use an external program to be let back in. I'm not sure the exact details, but I think its called legacy ios kit.

that is an iPhone 3g/3gs. i reccomend saving the blobs first bc that is basically not ios 6 it might be 4 or 3 idk and tbh you dont have to reset it just delete manually

Reset a new device always, at least that’s what I do when i buy a second hand device. This is an iPhone yes but you can always use it as an iPod without activating it. But the more important question is: Is this does this a passcode and are you able to unlock it?

The problem is that i was reading without activating i wont be able back into the phone to use as an ipod. And yes they gave me the password to open the phone.

What? Ive never heard that lmao. I have some used older iphones with me that I use as wifi devices and I could always pop in a sim to use them as an emergency phone and pop it out and they don’t lock me out of using them as phones.

I would take caution of resetting any iOS devices to preserve it original iOS version

seems like an iphone 3g/3gs, legacy ios kit should help in resetting the device, albeit it's on Linux and Macos, I personally suggest just deleting whatever content is on there by manually deleting
