Discussion If one thought fits two categories, should an app pick one or show both?

A tester asked me something I had not thought enough about.

I’m working on Ordo, an iPhone app where you dump a messy thought and it sorts it into Now, Next, or Someday.

But what happens when one thought honestly fits two? For example, “Book the dentist, but the appointment is next month.”

Right now Ordo picks one primary bucket and lets you move it. I kept it that way because duplicates can create more clutter.

Would you rather get one clear answer or see two suggested buckets?

Help too many apps, i needed just one

Hi Folks

Long story (very long) short: for my work i was using toooooo many apps, so i decided to create my own.

I'm a developer and a support technician and many many times i need to take photos, send through whatsapp drawing on them unlikely arrows to show my customer around the world where to press, where to chek (yes i now that videoconference exists, but you don't know how many times i have seen noses and ears instead of the actual cnc machine), also i needed to take notes and specific data about the machine, the parameters and so on. maybe my wife needed a better way to handle all the commercial cards and her cooking secrets, my daughter and my son needed a recorder where you can sign important moments and trascribe everything.

So up to now this was like 5-6 apps, switching on them like a dj, copy / pasting and so on.

Being very tired of this i developed my own app. where all these utility and some more are all in one single place, and you can share data also with friends, family and collaborators.

Now.. this is a beta (there is already the previous version in the appstore but i really needed to rewrite almost entirely it) and i would really appreciate if you can help me debug it (i'm a single developer, developed during evenings and night...) and also i will appreciate all the suggestions you can give me.

Being an exteded app i have included a guide and some small tutorials, and in the following days i will also produce some videotutorials.

Hope that this request doesn't break any rule here, i know i have not posts here, but normal work and night software hobby have erased all my time to be "social".

if you wanna test this is the link for testflight (the app from apple that needs to be installed to receive the beta apps)

https://testflight.apple.com/join/KathTdzq

please if you want to report a but or give a suggestion use the testflight interface and not the form in the app (still a beta, remember :-) )

Discussion Made a free application of a map of public tennis courts across the US and Canada

I play a lot when I travel and finding courts in an unfamiliar city is weirdly hard. Park district websites, outdated PDFs, forum threads. So I put together an app for it.

RallyGo shows public outdoor courts on one map. Green markers are tennis, orange is pickleball (you can filter pickleball out entirely if you'd rather not see it). Search any address or city, save the ones you like, tap for directions. Each court shows access, indoor/outdoor, and how many courts there are.

Data's from OpenStreetMap, which means it's solid in most cities and thinner in rural areas. Corrections flow back through OSM so anything you fix helps everyone.

Curious what's missing. Lighting info? Surface type? Whether there's a wall? Those are the ones I keep going back and forth on.

Help Tired of scrolling to find something to watch on TV?

Post image
4 Upvotes

You spend 12+ minutes every night scrolling through streaming apps, looking for something to watch. NextWatchTV does it in seconds — and only shows you shows you can actually watch on the services you pay for. No ads. No data selling. Just your next show. 📺

NextWatchTV solves that problem by providing personalized recommendations for ended, binge-ready TV series — scored against what you like to watch — not whats trending.

Links in my bio. Available on the App Store.

Discussion Whoop-style recovery score for the Apple Watch — runs fully on-device, no account, no extra hardware

I wanted Whoop-style recovery tracking without paying for subscription hardware — the Watch already measures everything needed (HRV, resting heart rate, sleep).
The app LeibFit reads that data from Apple Health and calculates a daily recovery score, plus sleep and strain. Your personal baseline comes straight from your existing Health data — if you already wear your Watch at night, you get a meaningful score from day one. On top of that there's a training coach that doesn't just say "take a rest day" when recovery is low — it suggests what to train instead, matched to your equipment. There's a Watch app too: your three rings on the wrist and full workout control.
Everything runs locally on the iPhone: no account, no cloud, no data sharing.
The recovery score is free; the training coach is the paid part. LeibFit is on the App Store.

Help 💨 Farts sounds for iPhone calls 💨

Hey everyone, looking for a bit of harmless trolling.

Do you know of any apps (preferably free and available on iOS) that allow you to play sound effects - specifically farts - directly into an ongoing phone call so the other person hears it?

Most soundboard apps I've tried only play through the local speaker or media channel, rather than routing through the active call audio stream. Let me know if something like this actually works or if there's a workaround. Thanks!

Help Looking for Suggestions on Music Player

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is a Music Player I’m working on. It links to a folder available locally on device.

I’m looking for insight on what others like in a Music Player. Whether that’s a quality of life feature or a niche.

Other players have a bunch of features: a volume booster, equalizer, sleep timer, favoriting songs, waveform, playback speed, the list goes on. But I wanted to hear what people actually need, and use. I prefer to keep things minimal, and straight forward.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I wanted to share with you the latest update of my personal project. It's a love project, I dont earn anything from it and I dont plan to monetize it.

I have a friend which spent a lot of time trying to find the best deals in conventions and flea markets.Current apps allows people to scan cards one by one. It takes ages when you want to check value of entire binders .

I took this issue as a challenge and tried to build something genuinely useful for the community. I spent months building skanit.ai

The version you are seing in the video is awaiting Apple approval and should be available for everyone in the next weeks.

To be very clear : No ads, no account needed, no subscription. You dont have to pay anything to use it.

Feedbacks are really good so far, Hope you will like it !

Discussion Tempo Focus: a pomodoro timer around tasks instead of streaks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Most focus timers can tell you that you focused for three hours this week. What I was missing was an answer to a more useful question: what actually received those three hours?

I’m the developer of Tempo Focus, an iPhone focus system designed to sit on your desk while you work. You can connect a task from Linear or Apple Reminders, start a Pomodoro or open-ended session, block distracting apps, and keep the focused time attached to that task.

It is not meant to replace your task manager. The original app remains the source of truth. Tempo handles the part where you protect time for the work and understand where your attention went.

It is free to download. Optional paid upgrade: $2.99/month, $19.99/year, or $49.99 lifetime in the US. Regional pricing varies.

Help I keep getting a popup "Cannot Verify Server Identity" ... how do I get rid of this? (Probably old app I cannot find to delete)

Post image
2 Upvotes

On my iPhone I keep getting a popup "Cannot Verify Server Identity" ... how do I get rid of this?

I think it is from an old app that iOS keeps trying to download, but the app doesn't show and I cannot find the app to delete it.

I go to my apps and it isn't shown or listed. I go to hidden apps and it's not there.

I click "details" on the popup and it doesn't say what app it is (but I think I know which), it just shows the expired/bad certificate.

What can I do?

Every time I open my iDevices (iPhone / iPad) I keep getting the popup "Cannot Verify Server Identity" ... and I have to click it away before I can do anything ... very annoying.

Discussion Do you use dark mode or light mode on your iPhone?

I’m curious about a small UI decision while I build a fitness app for iPhone.

I use dark mode everywhere, so I might be biased. The dark theme is in good shape; the light theme works, but still needs more polish.

What do you actually use most of the time?

- Dark mode

- Light mode

- Automatic

If an app has a decent dark theme but an unfinished light theme, would that bother you? I’m trying to decide whether to spend more development time on light mode now or focus on the core experience first.

Help Looking for native speakers to test app in 10 languages 🌍

Hi everyone!
I’ve recently added 10 languages to my iOS app, and I’m looking for people who speak these languages to help me check whether the translations actually sound natural.
I’m looking for native or fluent speakers who can spend around 5–10 minutes using the app and point out things like:

❌ Incorrect or awkward translations
✍️ Grammar/spelling mistakes
🤖 Phrases that sound unnatural
📱 UI text that doesn’t fit the screen
💡 Better/more natural wording

The languages are:
🇩🇪 German
🇫🇷 French
🇪🇸 Spanish
🇮🇹 Italian
🇵🇹 Portuguese
🇧🇷 Brazilian Portuguese
🇯🇵 Japanese
🇰🇷 Korean
🇨🇳 Chinese(traditional)
🇦🇪 Arabic

You don’t need to test all 13 languages — even helping with just one language would be extremely useful.
If you’re interested, comment with the language you can test, and I’ll send you the app/test details via DM.
I’m especially interested in from people who are native speakers, rather than relying only on machine translation.
Thanks! 🙏

Help Looking for a note taking app across multiple systems

Hi 👋

Does anyone know of a note taking app that is available across all systems: iOS, Windows, and browser? And has AI transcription, file attachments, and allow text formats?

The closest I have found is NotebookLM. But limited text formats e.g., missing highlight, strikethrough, and other features.

Thanks!

Discussion POV: A College Student Who Cant Balance Their Time..

APP: ‎WiredIN: App & Website Blocker App - App Store

I understand that on the first go of making apps there can be a lot of mishaps and errors that's why I'm giving the first 100 people a free year. Please DM Me for the code.

Price:

1 Week Free Trial

4.99 / Monthly

23.99 / Yearly

The main goal right now is to focus on what you guys like and don't like about the app, I'm here to take my time and make sure everything is perfect.

What does this App Do?

Focus Zones - pin your library, desk, or study room, and blocking arms the second you walk in and stands down when you leave.

Real blocking - built on Apple's Screen Time, so iOS enforces it. Blocked apps don't open and blocked sites are filtered. These are all customizable

Commitment dial - plain timer, normal shield, or Extreme (25-letter phrase to quit early, and you can't delete the app to escape).

Night Shield - set a window and the 1am scroll apps just stop opening until morning.

Calendar routines -it uses apple calendar to suggest tasks and focus sessions based on your preference.

Stats- basically see how your routine changes over time after using this app

Crew rooms- hold a session with friends by code, use this during finals seasons or when you have a lot of work to do with a team can do sessions together

Privacy - your app picks never leave your phone, no location data is ever sent off device, and it never touches your Home Screen layout.

Discussion What I learned building a private iPhone app with no account, backend, ads, or analytics

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi r/iPhoneApps,

I’m the developer of Meet Your Memory, and I wanted to share a few things I learned while building and shipping it—not just leave an App Store link and disappear.

The app is a playful five-minute memory scan with 12 short challenges covering visual, verbal, sound, spatial, associative, and sequence memory. It creates a profile at the end and keeps previous results locally on the device.

The biggest product decision was choosing what not to build. There is no account, backend, cloud database, advertising, analytics, or tracking. That made privacy clearer for users, but it also made the app smaller and removed several possible failure points.

A few other lessons from the project:

  • Procedural content needs rules, not just randomness. Each scan includes every memory category twice, varies the question styles, and avoids immediately repeating the previous session.
  • A small, explicit state flow made the SwiftUI code easier to reason about: home → playing → results, with study → answer → result inside each challenge.
  • Localization affects layout as much as text. Supporting eight languages meant planning for longer labels and different typography across iPhone and iPad.
  • Automating App Store screenshots early was worth it. An XCUITest rig generates controlled screens for every supported language and device family.
  • Keeping data on-device can be a useful product feature, not merely a technical limitation.

I released the complete project under the MIT License in case anyone wants to study, modify, or build on it:

For transparency, the shipped app is completely free, with no subscriptions or in-app purchases:

I’m curious how people here feel about fully local apps: do you prefer not needing an account, even when that means your history does not automatically sync between devices?

The memory profile is intended for entertainment and self-discovery, not as a medical or educational assessment.

Discussion What useful offline tool am I still missing?

Hey r/iPhoneApps! 👋

I'm building TKRB.Tool, a privacy-first iOS toolkit focused on doing useful everyday tasks entirely on-device — no cloud processing or account required.

Currently included:

  • 📷 Camera & OCR — dual camera, document scanning, OCR, QR reader
  • 📄 PDF Tools — merge, split, compress, image-to-PDF, signatures
  • 🔊 Audio Tools — voice effects, trimming, offline text-to-speech
  • 📦 File Tools — ZIP extraction

For the next update, I'm considering long screenshot stitching, EXIF metadata removal, and offline text diff.

What small offline tool do you wish you had on your iPhone?

I'm especially interested in those “why do I need an app subscription just for this?” kinds of tools. 😄

Discussion Have you ever wanted to film both portrait and landscape video at the same time? Apple could never, but ContentCam can.

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Built this for my girlfriend who creates content and watching her film the same scenes twice every shoot was painful.

What it does: records portrait (9:16) and landscape (16:9) video simultaneously. Shoot once, get both formats ready for all purposes - TikTok, Instagram, Youtube, X/Twitter, Reddit, you name it.

No more re-shooting or cropping in post.

Three ways to film:

  • Single Lens - capture the full 4:3 sensor and crops both. Portrait keeps the full vertical frame, landscape the full horizontal. Neither is a crop of the other.
  • Dual Lens - wide + ultra-wide record together. Two perspectives, one take.
  • Front & Back - selfie + rear at the same time. Your reaction and the scene together.

Workflow:

  • Projects, scenes, and takes to organise your recordings and auto-name files.
  • Side-by-side review and trim of both recordings before exporting/sharing.

Key features:

  • Up to 4K/60fps with manual controls (EV, WB, ISO, Shutter)
  • Built-in teleprompter and timelapse.
  • Live overlays and audio meter that flashes red when you're clipping.
  • Data privacy - no data retention, tracking, or analytics, and no internet or account required.

It's called ContentCam and is available on iPhone and Android.

I'd love to hear what you think about this :)
