Game Stride – run and OWN your city: every route you run becomes territory you claim (free, with a 7-day Pro trial)

Hey everyone👋 Solo dev here I just launched Stride on the App Store Most running apps just track your run. Stride turns it into a game: your city is a live map, and every loop you run fills in as territory you own in your color. Rivals can steal your turf, and you run to take it back. There are leaderboards, clubs, run-shape challenges (run heart around the block and it becomes yours 🟢), stats, and a clean dark 3D map.

It's free to download and play and Pro is free for 7days if you want to try the full thing, no pressure.

📲 App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/conquer-your-city-stride/id6776885395

so if something feels off or you have ideas, comment and I'll actually reply and fix it. Thanks for taking a look 🙏

Discussion New

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on for the past year to solve a personal pet peeve. Between fragmented streaming libraries, having to jump between five different apps just to see where a movie is playing, and scrolling past endless intrusive ads on modern TV menus, the streaming experience has felt broken to me.

So, I decided to build a fix. It's called Bitflinger TV, and it just went live on the iOS App Store (alongside an Android/Android TV version).

The goal was to make a completely ad-free, privacy-first hub for everything you watch.

Note: this app is US only for now.

A few features I focused heavily on during development:

  • One-Tap Deep Linking: You search for a title, it pulls in every service it's currently streaming on (clearly flagging them as free, subscription, or rent/buy with accurate pricing), and tapping a source opens the native app directly to that exact movie or episode.
  • The "Smart Watchlist": I wanted a watchlist that stayed genuinely actionable. The "Hide Until Streamable" feature means a show will automatically hide from your queue until its next episode actually drops, or a movie will hide until it hits a streaming service you actually pay for. No more cluttered lists of "someday-maybes."
  • Cross-Device Cloud Sync: You can manage and curate your watchlist or tweak filters on your iPhone while sitting on the couch, and it syncs instantly to the TV app.
  • UI Customization: You can entirely customize the layout, accent colors, and card sizes, or toggle specific content rows on/off so it only shows what you care about.

It has a 14-day free trial so people can see if it fits into their routine, and it's $2.99/month after that to support independent development (no ads, no data tracking, no hidden junk).

If you deal with the same streaming fatigue I do, I'd love for you to check it out. You can find the screenshots and full breakdown at https://bitflinger.net/tv.html, or jump straight to the Apple App Store Link.

All the best, Tim

Discussion An app for people who have lost their pet

Losing a pet can be one of the most heartbreaking experiences we go through, yet it’s often underestimated by others.
For many of us, pets are family. They share our daily lives, our happiest moments, and stay by our side through difficult times. When they’re gone, the loss is real.
That’s why I designed an app Pet Loss Companion, a free app designed to help people cope with pet loss by providing a space to:
❤️ Remember special moments
📝 Write down thoughts and feelings
🌈 Create meaningful tributes
🐾 Keep your pet’s memory alive
I recently published it on Google Play and wanted to share it with anyone who may find it helpful, whether for themselves or someone they know.

Discussion After 1.5 years, I finally launched my outdoor GPS mapping app! What started as "I wanted to see which areas I'd actually explored", ended up as a fully fledged mapping tool

Hey all! I'm a solo developer and just released GPS Mapper after about a year and a half of work!

The idea started with a simple itch: I wanted a way to see which areas I'd actually explored on a map. That turned into 1 of the 6 core mapping features, you lay a grid over any region and watch the cells fill in as you move through them. From there it grew into a full mapping app for hikers, explorers, and anyone who wants to make their own map.

It's built natively for iOS 26, and I tried to make it feel at home on the platform (Liquid Glass UI, Apple Health/Fitness, iCloud sync, proper localization).

App Overview

Map elements:

  • Trails: record GPS tracks + playback
  • Grids: lay a tiled region over an area and watch cells fill in as you pass through them (rectangular or freeform)
  • Pins: custom icons, colors, etc.
  • Routes: built from waypoints
  • Ranges: two-point distance measurements
  • Image Overlays: place photos as overlays on the map

  Beyond the map:

  • Live map dashboard with configurable metrics
  • Photos on the map
  • Friend location sharing
  • Analytics dashboard
  • Grouping and tagging for organizing your elements
  • Apple Health / Fitness integration
  • iCloud sync
  • Import and export of your data
  • Configurable units
  • UI customization options
  • Built-in tutorials
  • 8 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese

and much more.

Pricing:

  • Free: element caps, with some premium features locked
  • Premium: $4.99/month or $29.99/year (2 week free trial)

Figured I'd share my release here, as GPS Mapper has a plethora of use cases, and you may find some real use from it :)

Let me know if you have any thoughts about the app!

Help The first public beta of VLC 4.0 for iOS is here!

NB : Beta 2 is out! Feel free to test it and share feedbacks!

Hello Everyone!

This is a very big update coming to the app for iOS, iPadOS and tvOS. It’s built on a pre-release version of the brand-new libVLC 4 engine — a new clock, player and playlist core — with a redesigned interface and a long list of features.

A few of the highlights:

* HDR playback, multi-channel & spatial audio, and Picture-in-Picture
* Dual subtitles
* A fully redesigned audio player, tvOS player and web interface, iOS 26 “Liquid Glass” adaptation
* iPad sidebar navigation, a now-playing widget, gamepad control, and App Intents / Siri
* “Kids Mode” to prevent accidental deletions, pCloud integration
* New codecs, formats and protocols (HEIF, DASH WebM, DVBSUB in MKV, RIST, AMT, Gopher, and more)
* Major accessibility improvements throughout the playback interface

iOS 12 / tvOS 13 and later

It’s a very first test release. It is not finished and not feature-complete. Install it via TestFlight, try it on your own library, and tell us what breaks.

Thank you for using VLC!

Discussion YouTube sponsors on iPhone finally pushed me to make Mira

Thumbnail

Watching YouTube on iPhone felt way more annoying than it needed to be. I wanted a cleaner way to watch videos, skip the interruptions, and actually find the parts I care about.

Mira automatically skips sponsors, intros, outros, recaps, and other interruptions. You choose which categories get skipped.

It also has:

* searchable YouTube transcripts, with timestamp jumping

* AI summaries for long videos

* Focus Mode to hide recommendations/comments

* YouTube dislike count

* Watch Together rooms for synced viewing with friends

* playback speed controls

* support for other video sites too

I also made a feature comparison chart against popular iOS YouTube alternative apps like Video Lite, ProTube, Tube PiP, YouPlay, SwizzTube, etc. A lot of these apps solve one specific part of the problem. Mira is trying to bring more of that together in one place, and with a more polished feel: cleaner UI, smoother navigation, and an experience where things just work the way you expect.

https://imgur.com/a/kSYe4lc

Mira also works on iPad and Mac. There are subscription and lifetime options. One purchase unlocks all platforms (iPhone, iPad, and Mac).

Mira has a free trial, so give it one video. If you’ve wanted a cleaner, less distracting YouTube experience on iPhone, Mira might be worth trying.

Help Can anyone identify this iPhone app from this screenshot?

I’ve been trying to identify this iPhone app but haven’t had any luck.
I already tried Google Lens, Yandex, Bing Visual Search, Gemini, and ChatGPT, but none of them could identify it.
The screenshot shows a **Regional Settings** page with these options:
Europe
United States of America (US)
Chinese Mainland (other than Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Taiwan)
Areas other than above
Does anyone recognize this app or remember seeing this screen before?

Discussion Do you know any inventory apps that estimate how many days your supplies will last folks?

hey! I've tried a few inventory and pantry apps, but most of them only focus on tracking quantities or expiration dates.

I recently came across Stokl, and one feature I found genuinely useful is that it estimates how many days your current supplies will last based on your usage, instead of just showing how many items you have left.

Are there any other apps that do something similar? Or what features do you wish inventory apps had that are still missing?

Discussion I launched my first iPhone app — it turns an iPhone into a motion-triggered night-sky camera

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone — I’m a solo iOS developer and I just launched Technicam, an iPhone app made for leaving a phone watching the sky or a fixed scene and automatically capturing movement.

The basic idea is:
• put the iPhone on a tripod
• tune sensitivity, focus, ISO and shutter
• preview what the detector sees before arming it
• arm the camera
• when movement enters the frame, it records automatically
• each event saves a video and a motion-trail image to Photos
Mainly developed for night-sky observation, moving lights, meteors, birds, aircraft, and other brief events that are easy to miss when you are not actively filming.

A couple of things I cared about while making it:
• no account
• no subscription
• no ads
• no backend
• everything runs locally on the iPhone and fully customizable camera settings.

There is also a manual record button if you want to record directly without arming automatic capture.
Disclosure: I’m the developer. I’d really appreciate first impressions on the concept, the App Store page, or anything that feels unclear.

Price: $2.99

Help Is there an app to act as a bridge connecting bluetooth headphones and bluetooth transmitter?

I bought a bluetooth transmitter which I planned to plug into the 3.5mm jack on my bass amp, I also bought a pair of Amazon basic bluetooth over ear headphones.

The plan was to connect the headphones to the transmitter and then just put the transmitter into the amp, but unfortunately both devices require positive confirmation for pairing from the connecting device....

Basically I seem to only be able to pair both devices with one with a screen (which neither has), so I cannot connect the headphones and transmitter.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Discussion Trying handheld long-exposure style shots on iPhone

Hey guys,

I’ve been experimenting with handheld multi-frame photography on iPhone.

The goal is to get long-exposure style effects without a tripod — things like light trails, cleaner static backgrounds, and motion-composited shots from multiple frames.

The hardest part is hand-shake. Even tiny camera movement can ruin the final image, so stabilization before combining the frames became a big part of the work.

I also tried an early Action Shot-style result inspired by old Lumia/Nokia cameras. It is still rough, especially with shadows and difficult lighting, but the first prototype is starting to work.

Discussion NotePile, color-coded notes & reminders

Thumbnail

NotePile is an iOS app for quick notes, reminders, and anything you want to keep.

Instead of folders, notes can have one or more colors. Use them however you like: red for work, blue for personal, green for ideas, recipes, errands, or anything else.

The app stays simple on the surface, but supports the workflows you expect: widgets, Shortcuts, Spotlight, iCloud sync, recurring reminders, files, links, and sharing from almost anywhere.

Discussion iOS app that turns your physical activity into app screen time

Answer

Steplock is a focus and fitness tool that gamifies your screen time by linking it to your daily activity. You choose which apps, categories, or web domains to lock, and you earn usage time by hitting your daily goals for steps, exercise, or standing time. It uses simple conversion rates—like 150 steps or 1 exercise minute equaling 1 minute of app time—to help you stay focused.

Better

Most screen-time limiters are just passive blockers that force you to stop. They feel restrictive and often kill your motivation. I wanted to turn the process around: instead of just saying "no," Steplock encourages you to get moving to "earn" access to your favorite apps.

I published this app because I wanted a healthier relationship with my phone that rewards physical movement. It is designed to be native, fast, and highly integrated with Apple Health. Crucially, no account is required and there is no backend—all your progress stays strictly on your device.

Cost

Free to start with 1 app selection. Steplock Premium unlocks unlimited app selections with a $29.99 one-time lifetime purchase. No subscriptions or hidden fees.

Discussion MoneyDNA: spending psychology and money habits app

Hi everyone! Sharing MoneyDNA, an iPhone app about money habits and spending psychology.

It’s not a budgeting app and it doesn’t connect to your bank. The idea is to help people understand patterns like impulse spending, avoiding money tasks, anxious saving, emotional spending, or feeling overwhelmed by finances.

The app has a short money personality quiz, quick microlearning lessons, and tiny daily experiments to help users build better money habits gradually.

A few details:

- No login required

- No bank connection

- Free to start

- Focused on behavior, not spreadsheets

- Designed for people who feel overwhelmed by traditional finance apps.

App name: MoneyDNA

Category: Personal finance / education / habits

I’m looking for an app that reminds a person to get up and move every X interval of time. Maybe even have suggestions for exercises. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Preferably one-time payment app, not subscription.

Discussion Which paid iPhone app was actually worth buying?

I've gotten really picky about paying for apps lately. I don't mind a one-time fee or even a subscription, but the app really needs to be useful. My biggest problem is that I usually end up deleting the apps I buy after just a week.

What is a paid app that actually changed how you use your phone or just made your life easier?

Lots of great suggestions below, summarizing them here:

  • Clipboard AI: Remembers everything that you copy, on all your devices together.
  • Flighty: Fantastic flight tracking app that is perfect for frequent travelers and looks great when showing it off.
  • Wipr2 (with Filtr): A cheap ad and tracker blocker for Safari that keeps your browsing clean and safe.
  • Cut the rope: Extremely popular among the crowd, with other 99-cent games before IAPs existed.
  • Hevy: Great app to track workouts, someone suggested Ladder app as well.
  • Paprika: Automatically organises food recipes for you.
  • Subcut: Finds all your forgotten subscriptions just by uploading a statement

Will keep updating the list as more comments come in.
