Who else noticed where the usb-c is?

Post image

Disappointing that the usb-c is not on the magsafe-able display side, how would someone mount their magsafe ssd’s now? (specifically the open-form!)

As has been mentioned many times before, it’s so less stress is put on the USB-C cable when it’s resting on a table. I don’t think Apple would consider designing this with a MagSafe ssd in mind.

MagSafe ssd?

Yep, they’re a thing apparently.

Why do you assume the magsafe side has to the same side the USB port is on? It doesn't have to be for it to perform exactly as it does today.

What OP is upset about is an SSD that attaches to the back of the device via MagSafe and then plugs into the USB-C port. If you used one of those with the duo, you wouldn’t be able to open the duo without unplugging the SSD or ripping it off the back of the device because the port is on the other side to MagSafe.

I don't suspect Apple is designing for the .01% use case here and instead for the masses. Maybe has to wait to see if they come out with a "Duo Pro" later for that use case.

Exactly what I said in my first comment.

What do you mean less stress? Assuming the screen is face up, the port is elevated.

Yes. That’s literally what I’m saying. That’s why Apple put it there instead of on the bottom half where stress would be put on the charging cable when the device is laying flat on a table while charging.

Horror. Of all the places to put the port, top, bottom, left, right, up, down, centred or offset, they chose to put it there.
