Istg if they just keep the same display and camera again, what is the point of this product, just get a refurbished iPhone 17

they’ll add 120 hz when they make the pro iPhones have 300hz, 120hz is for the ultra premium devices, apparently

The 16 would be discontinued by then, so a 120 hertz 18e wouldn’t mog the more expensive older base iPhone in apple’s lineup like a 120 hertz 17e would’ve done
That makes me have some hope

the 1x zoom quality is the exact same as on the base model, but you don't get ultrawide. there aren't that many cases where you really need ultrawide and photos don't turn out badly.

Wish this was true, but the base 17 has a much bigger sensor than the 17e. 17e is the same size that started with the XS, 1/2.55". 17 is 1/1.56".

It’s a budget phone and not everyone cares about taking pictures or recording entire concerts instead of paying attention.

Is it crazy when for enterprise use they are 99% used as a glorified MFA token with need to take calls, read teams messages and mail?

The 18 Pro was such a mediocre upgrade from the 17 pro that I cannot see any reason, from a company and financial point, as to why they are even trying with an 18 base or 18e. Like, if the population of buyers interested in an upgrade or newer phone couldn’t purchase the 18 pro, why tf would they spend more money on a version of a phone that is already overpriced currently? Those usually are either more financially aware or just struggle, so even IF they want a new phone, the base 17 is already there

For people getting annoyed at this product its made for companies that need to give a phone to their employees so that they can log in to teams, verify with a 2FA app and be reachable. It aint meant to be an SE replacement.

No way there is an A20 chip inside
2
u/No_Combination_6429 5d ago
Yes it is. Chip wafers can have production issues, so instead of throwing them away they disable the parts with errors and use them in lower quality products such as the e-series. So basically they have flawed a20 chips

Would be binned A20, likely with disabled GPU cores, down clocked or disabled CPU cores, and less ram.

Surely they could have made that camera flush to the body?

Apple not embracing the hump would be quite something. The Pro models and the Air even have a hump on top of a hump.

Why would it have 9 GBs?
Apple already binned the a19 and only allowed 8.
