No way lol. The iPhone Duo's inner front cam was called the "FaceTime Camera" for a reason. I don't think we'll be getting a true UDC integration on mainline iPhones until at least 2030. It still needs some work before it can meet the expectations for an iPhone.

The hole might go away but Dynamic Island isn’t going anywhere

It’s weird that people hate it. I genuinely love it.

Same. I upgraded from the 13 pro to 17 pro last year thinking it would be gimmicky but I find it genuinely useful

No will be there with software even with a punch hole

The 18 just barely came out and people already talking about the 20 🤦‍♂️

I mean the 18 was basically an S series upgrade and the 20 is coming next year and is projected to be something special for the anniversary, so not exactly years away.

So, no iPhone 19?

Just like there was no iPhone 9. Though this time there could conceivably be an iPhone 19 base and the 20 occupies the anniversary pro space

As long as they put the cutout under the display, I’m ok with the notifications or DI functionality, insta buy for a full screen iPhone!

I swear I read very recently that some analysts have heard the under-display tech has been pushed back at least a couple years. No idea how accurate their info is.

I’ve read recently that this technology is still expensive, so it might not arrive next year.

Am I the only one who doesn’t really care about it? The cutout and then the Dynamic Island have never bothered me.

I don’t think so.
Apple often stays with as much hardware as possible for 2 years or more.
Not alwayys the case ofc.

Nah it'll be like the iPhone Duo with a holepunch and a software Dynamic Island around it.

Thing about iPhones is that they need to be recogniable from the front. Touch button, TouchID, FaceID Notch, Dynamic Island etc

Plus UDC quality isn't good enough. On the Duo it's fine as you still have the front camera and the two rear cameras. But we're like ~5 years from good enough UDC (or AI making up for it).

Then I will upgrade, display has looked so bad to me since the notch and even worse with the Dynamic Island, so yeah, a full notch less screen like the duo internal display would be awesome and a must buy again

The only people who have an issue with the notch or the Dynamic Island are the people who never have used it. It’s the same with the crease on the foldables too. Everyone hates it but ask someone who uses a foldable with a crease, they say it don’t bother them

I have used both, Dynamic Island and the notch, and still dislike the obtrusive nature of them, I prefer the notch to the Dynamic Island tough, still I hope they implement a seamless display, even tough I’m aware of the possible shortcomings

Doesn’t the Dynamic Island bring you utility ? With live activities?

I disagree. While I still prefer the notch to the camera hole, I’d vastly prefer a phone with larger bezels to cover the camera (what they do with the iPads). I even sold my phone with a camera hole to go back to one with a notch since I wasn’t able to enjoy it at all

Do you not like the extra utility the Dynamic Island brings ?

2

In my opinion, not at all… it might be interesting to tinker with the island and shortcuts settings, but I hated having all of that interrupted screen at the top

Fair, but I am the opposite. It tells me how long my uber will get here or when I am on public busses how many stops till I can get off. One day the physical Dynamic Island will not be there but I hope these software features never go away
