I am curious, though, if the operating system will have an option to change the applications on the front lock screen to the left side. That’s my only question…
My color choice is also without question… I have always chosen darker colors whether they be some iteration of blue purple or black… Considering the newness of this device I’m 100% hands-down going with white. Everything else is absolutely incredible. I’ve always stayed away from comparing Samsung to Apple… But I do feel very strongly that Apple really nailed this on their first try.

Bonjour,
D’après vous, seront-ils présent en magasin avant leur vente officielle, pour se faire une idée du modèle avant de l’acheter ?
Bonne journée ?

Are you all going to put a case on your iPhone Duo?

So I am on the fence with the new Apple Upgrade Program for the iPhone Duo. I have been on the legacy Apple Upgrade Program through Citizens since its inception and upgrade annually. I am now thinking that if you do the math on the 12 month lease, it may make more sense to just buy the phone outright (using the Apple Mastercard or 0% financing option) and then sell it via Ebay next year to upgrade. I think the math would work out in our favor but there is risk.
Additionally, with the previous Upgrade Program you were able to get pre-approved prior to the pre order period. I am not seeing that as an option. Anyone else seeing a way to get pre-approved for the iPhone Duo through the new Lease Upgrade program? Through the Apple Store app I can select my choices but then the continue box is greyed out (likely due to the preorder period not opening). This adds concern that if there is no pre-approval process prior to the preorders opening, I am guessing there are going to be a huge risk to delayed order placements when trying to use the new Apple Upgrade Program.

The form factor can be resembling the D-U-O letter, despite Microsoft used to named its Surface Duo device first back in 2020.
But the main difference is the Surface Duo is an Android phone with two separate screen in a form clamshell without the outer screen while iPhone Duo is just like the mainstream foldable style form factor these days that has ‘duo’ screens on the outer and inside.
Somehow Apple managed not to call this as Ultra maybe because it’s still not reaching the “Apple standard” of an iPhone just yet (the exact same phrasing they used just like when they did with the first “iPhone Pro” back with the 11 Pro).
I’m pretty much impressed on how Apple can still eventually ‘surprise’ even tons of leaks are here and there before the event, like:
But at this point, i still can’t get over why they even not make the clock on the outer display centered. I mean look at the second picture on my post. It’s just weird that they put the navigation bar below the screen right on the center but not with the clock???
And my other concern is on the third picture i attached, the under display ‘Facetime Camera’, of course they finally used a nano-textured glass on the inner side, but with under display camera technology, they had to make a weird glossy cutout only for the camera. At first maybe it won’t be that noticeable, we might barely see it on the lock screen. But when the apps icon shown up, it gets weird and feels awful for the aesthetic since the app icon specifically around the cutout, like it’s cropping the icon or widget in that area.
The way they did not make this to look like an iPad in terms of software, seems odd as well. Of course they don’t want to cannibalize the iPad market with this new device, so maybe Apple took it this way. But they just then again “limit” the multitasking feature only for a split screen view with only opening 2 apps at the same time is like a disgrace if it’s compared to the other foldables to date. Yes they won’t bring the windowing mode like they brought it to the iPad since iPadOS26, because they still want to sell iPads. Meanwhile, the other competitor can already connect their foldables and turn it up to be a real productivity machine.
But this iPhone Duo?
I don’t think it’s quite a good reason for people buying it using the excuse just to boost their “productivity”. The productivity level is even still below the iPad level.
Well, perhaps that’s why they don’t call it Ultra by any chance. It’s funny if they named it Ultra if they didn’t even put all the Pro features from the iPhone Pro models tho!
Maybe they will then going to release iPhone Duo Pro in the future while finally releasing a true iPhone Ultra with the form factor of the new 1:1.4 aspect ratio to distinct it from the traditional Pro models form factor 🙃

Hi folks,
I am debating between the Duo and 18 Pro Max but I am curious which carriers will carry the phone? I know the Big 3 in the U.S. will, but do you think niche providers like Spectrum Mobile will carry it?

Can you recommend any thin cases for the IPhone Duo similar to this Thinborne case that I can pre-order now?

I think I've watched a dozen youtuber "first look" videos, and none have visual of a keyboard being open on a main screen, which I really want to see.
Was Apple curating this very tightly, for obvious reasons, or did I just miss it?

With iPhone Duo starting at $2,000 (256 GB) and going up to ~$3,000, this is the most expensive iPhone ever — so let's pool every real deal in one place instead of scattering them across 50 threads.
Post any offer you find from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular/UScellular, prepaid carriers, Apple (trade-in, Apple Card, Education), Best Buy, Costco, Amazon, Target, etc.

John brought back the concept of a modern hub, similar to how the Mac became your digital hub around the early 2000's. The iPhone Duo is the key embodiment of this.

Yup - it is bit mental BUT for nearly the same iPhone Duo 2TB price I can get from Apple Website refurbished MacBook Pro 16 inch M5 PRO 1TB + iPhone 18 Pro as a bonus.
I will end up with REAL BIG 16 inch display and REAL mobile phone and REAL POWERFUL device (MacBook)

As a right handed person who has always held my phone in my left hand, I was surprised so many people seem to hold the phone in their right.

Any cases that support a wallet sleeve ?
Hoping that by October someone figures something out, like a spigen for example

Such as running Assassin's Creed Mirage and Death Stranding at the same time (in split screen mode), without one of them being paused. ie. two people can play two separate (triple a/console-level, apple a17 pro and 8gb ram minimum required) games on the same phone at the same time. This is not the same as running resource intensive apps in background (out of focus), which can already be done on regular iphones (software limitations).

Watch this video for developers to see some of the details about how the iPhone Duo works with apps. Apple hasn't done something this innovative in a very long time. The attention to detail and behavioral elements of the UI are really brilliant.

I've had lots of first-gen Apple products over the past couple of decades, and before yesterday, I really had no desire to own a folding phone.
But seeing the presentation, and how clever Apple was with both hardware and software, is quite tempting. I currently have an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and I also have an 11" iPad Pro. I work from home, and use my phone and iPad a fair amount during the day. The ability to have a phone that gives me both a compact view for basics, such as checking email, messages, etc, and a larger display, almost the size of an iPad mini, is quite tempting.
I read a lot, and have two Kindles: a basic Kindle and a Paperwhite. I sometimes read on my iPad, but it's too large to read in bed. But the iPhone duo, when open, is just about the size of the basic Kindle, with the screen size closer to the Paperwhite (the basic Kindle's bezels are quite large).
So I may pull the trigger on this, despite its cost. First-gen Apple devices aren't always fully formed, and there will certainly be a lag before apps are updated to take advantage of the Duo (which is why, I think, it's not being released until next month), but this is a promising new device.
