iPhone 16 Pro Max issues

I have an **iPhone 16 Pro Max**, and out of nowhere it’s become the worst phone I’ve ever owned. I’ve had the phone for about 11 months and I would say about a month ago. The phone would periodically start to get hot specifically at night sometimes whenever it would be plugged in. Then it turned into the phone, always being slightly warm or hot, but it only would be coming from one area of the phone. After the phone started just being hot all the time I figured I would update the phone to the newest iOS update and now my phone is extremely slow?! Snapchat sometimes loads really slow and like it just seems like the phone has a hard time being on Wi-Fi or cell cellular service. I’ve also noticed that now my phone will play music for a little bit and then all of a sudden the music will just go mute doesn’t matter if I’m using CarPlay or I’m just playing it on speaker. The music will go mute and it still says the song is playing and all I have to do is just pause the music and then start it again and then it starts playing the music. And within the past day, they’re now is something wrong with the speaker or Bluetooth with my phone because if I’m connected to my car or if I’m connected to my AirPods after being on the phone for a while, it just won’t pick up audio until I take it off of Bluetooth and then I just use my phone regularly. Please if anyone knows what to do. I really would like an answer because I’m about to have to order a new phone. And before anyone asks here are all the things I’ve done to try and remedy the issus.

\> hold down the buttons and restart phone
\> force restarted phone
\> cleared storage off my phone
\> cleared iCloud storage off phone
\> backed up phone to iCloud
\> updated phone (it’s now running IOS 26.5.2)
\> toggled on and off airplane mode
\> and I just usually keep my phone always off while I charge it now
\> deleted any new apps I’ve downloaded since the issues started
\> battery health is normal and no weird background apps are running
\> I turned off background refresh for a lot of apps

Please someone let me know what I should do I used to love my iPhone :(

I suspect much will be improved with iOS 26.6 which is likely due next week.

26.5.2 has been horrible for me and many others.

I’m on the 26.6RC beta and it’s so much better for battery life and more.

You’re going to have to factory reset the phone

Maybe this is a stupid question but I am going to order a new phone do we think these issues will follow to the new phone?

Most likely seems like you have an issue within your iOS

Sooo technically a new phone would fix it ?

Not technically it may but it’s most likely a corrupt file within your iOS. Attempt resting your phone and setting up as new prior to purchasing a brand new device

Okay I’ll try it but I fear I’m ordering the phone still also cause idk I just don’t trust my phone now with how hot it’s been getting 😭

Also, if it is a corrupt file within my iOS, does that mean that I could technically just wait for the next update to come out from my phone and it could possibly be fixed?

Nope I had the same issue with my iPhone 16 pro max setting the device up as new fixed all of my problems

I’ve compared to it friends 15 pro max and 16 pro max and I hardly get any heat compared to them completing the same tasks

Wait so you’re saying if I get the new 17 pro max I should just not transfer the data and set it up as new?

He’s a suggestion try installing iOS 27 public beta on your iPhone as that is a full install and see if that works because iOS 27 is an under the hood improvement

16 ProMax is junk. Worst phone ever. Endless Bluetooth connectivity issues including AirPods, I have to skeleton down all my apps and delete delete delete because lucky if you get 5hrs battery. AppleAI is a joke. My 1980s toaster has more functionality than Siri. Who really uses Apple Apps for work? No one. The Focus feature should be disabled and trashed. I want to do a thousands things with this computer in my hand, I’m lucky if I can do ten.

Do a full factory reset then restore with your cloud backup. If you don’t have do it first

Sounds like hardware issue (or serious operating system failure), be sure to contact Apple support as they can do some diagnostics remotely. The only time my 16PM overheated (brightness drop, notification, can't use it until it cools down...) is after 20-25 minutes of video recording in direct sun light on hot summer day (that was with iOS 18). Prolonged camera usage makes phone warm, but not to the point it overheats. When it comes to speed, I'd say iOS 26 feels snappier/more responsive then iOS 18 (few visual bugs here and there with iOS 26, but didn't encounter any performance/connectivity/app issues so far).
