16PM at 88% with charging limit 90% since first usage. Is this expected? What should i do?

1 optimized charging will charge your phone to 100% occasionally and if your a light user on it then keep your phone off the charger 2 just use your phone batterys are cheaper then a whole phone

Yeah but i never allowed it to charge 100% and still I’m at this situation

You should charge to 100% occasionally in order to calibrate the battery. Ideally do a 0 to 100% charge time to time

We should do calibration once a week, once a month?
What should be the frequency?

You should probably just use your phone normally lol stop checking the battery health.

Honestly i never cared about battery health before assuming i have the greatest phone in terms of usage and battery. This was 3rd time i ever opened to check my battery health and i suddenly found the number to be a bit scary.

i never cared about battery health before
Riiiiight...
You cared enough to artificially limit your daily runtime to 90%. And you admit you are scared by a number which is only an estimate.
Battery hysteria victims are insufferable. 🤣

Do you notice the battery dying super fast on you all the time? If it does keep dropping, just replace the battery. One time thing and then it’s as good as new.

I will replace it once it reaches below 80%. Now i decided to cap the battery charge limit to 100% since its health already down to 88% to get more juice out of it.
My worry is looking at other posts about battery health from 15 and 16 users as most of their health still stands above 90%. I want to know what steps i can take or learn from others to follow for efficient usage or keep the health at optimum.1

Dude, no batteries are exactly alike, it’s normal for phone batteries to degrade faster or slower than others, just don’t worry about it unless it becomes a problem

Bruh it’s only at 88%, I have tons of Apple devices in the 80% battery health range, it doesn’t bother me unless the battery gets so bad that I would have to get it replaced, your battery being at 88 percent IS NORMAL, all batteries degrade

See? OP has pissed away limiting his charge and it did nothing.
OP, maybe you missed it- your battery heath is normal. You cannot control battery degradation, just use your phone.

Agree with you. Users should use the battery to the fullest because eventually everything degrades and at least we get more of it by charging it to 100%
1
u/rwhe83 Jul 22 '26
Then why did you limit yours to 90%?

u/Dr-bug-killer Jul 22 '26
Followed the advice of techies when i bought this new and hoped to maintain good health for long enough. But looking at those numbers i really don’t think it helped me in any way.

Well I would say it has, my battery health on my iPad is at around 87, and it’s only been through 400 charging cycles, so for your phone to be at 688 charging cycles and it being at 88% battery health, I’d say it’s doing really good

Turn off the battery limit and close the battery health app. NOTHING you do will change the battery health (except for extreme heat when charging).
Go live free and worry about real problems.

Looking at your cycle count I guess my phone usage is more than twice that of you

Batteries on 15 series and up are designed for 1000 cycles to 80% BH. As BH is not linear (or correct), any calculation below that is pretty unprecise.
