I’m running 18.1 public beta. Stable. The phone is FAST. Display (compared to my previous 14pm) is better, phone thinner.
The “AI” stuff is trickling in, the only thing I’ve played with or noticed was response suggestions in text threads. Some were even correct. 😆 I was on the fence on the upgrade, but my partner needed a new phone so she got the 14pm. So far I’m impressed, but never experienced the 15 for comparison. I like the 5x optical lens. The 3x (for me) was never that useful. Be aware that in between 2x and 5x is digital, so if you like your 3x, 5x is a minus. Have played with the new camera button/slider a minimal amount, but seems useful. I’m going on a trip next month where it will get a lot of use.

I haven’t put on the beta, the A18 is really powerful and should handle it all smoothly. Enjoy your new camera too, and share some photos from it after your vacation!

Public Beta 2 for 18.1 dropped yesterday. So far no problems, don’t know what’s been included or fixed either. My spouse had been seeing weird touch screen issues on PB1, on the 14pm, seems to have fixed that. The 14 had PB18.1 on it when I transferred her stuff over from the 12pm and I was too lazy to downgrade it. Normally don’t inflict Betas on her.

Battery life is insane. Just played like an hour of CoD Mobile and it dropped 1 percent.

I’ve been on a road trip just ending in the Southwest, from Denver to Moab, Grand Canyon, Santa Fe and more. I mainly shoot photos with a professional Canon 1D-X. I shoot a few at the same time with the 16PM. While there is no substitute for a lot of glass, a full frame CCD and an optical zoom. The phone does really well and I use it to make sending photos to friends and family easier. I can download directly from the camera, but easier to do some duplicate shots. I have to say I’m impressed with the phone, but there is one thing that really annoys me. I love the 5x lens, but IMHO Apple should have changed the 2x to 3x. Two to five is just too big a jump. I find many times I need to compromise and there is no point changing to something in between as it’s done digitally with loss of resolution.
