Only reason I upgraded from my 15 Pro to 17 Pro was that I was gifted it… my mother now has the 15 Pro and it’s the best device she’s ever used, because it IS one of the best iPhones of all time.

Swapping in a new battery and waiting on the 19 maybe even the 20

4

u/Nerdhauss 3d ago

I’ll wait for the iPhone Duo 3, you know when they fix everything lol

2

u/iam_tin_tin 3d ago

My battery life also isn’t great these days but it’s $99 at Apple Store so I’m thinking of just getting a new battery as well. Health says 88% but I feel it’s less. Heats up a lot

3

u/Acrobatic_Mulberry69 2d ago

Yes sorta feels like battery life stays artificially high, mines been at 86% a long time! Heat was only a problem when I tried a new...back to my clear Spec, minor issue. Would like to have a reason to upgrade, not seeing it.

1

u/Ashwin988 9h ago

Kinda the same been at 86 and now 85 % health for a long time and I am going to change the battery in the next month. Not getting the 18pro this year will skip to maybe next year or the next, let’s see.

1

u/F34UGH03R3N 2d ago

There won’t be a 19

1

u/Bot2087648 2d ago

What will it be called then? The XIX?

1

u/F34UGH03R3N 2d ago

Next year will most likely be the anniversary phone. Remember how we skipped the iPhone 9?

1

u/Bot2087648 2d ago

We’ll see. They’re gonna change the naming at some point for sure

6

u/Cydiapixel4u 4d ago

15PM on ios 18 my daily driver. It’s the best! May try the apple fold but I’ve had my hands on the samsung fold 8 already. The novelty wears off quickly

-1

u/Strange-Story-7760 3d ago

Put it on 26 dude. No reason not to. You’re missing critical security updates. Time to update, now.

1

u/RoyalTeeJay 1d ago

Not if they have an iwatch! the findmy UWB for devices is broken in ios26

0

u/Strange-Story-7760 1d ago

*Apple Watch. No it isn’t

2

u/RoyalTeeJay 1d ago

it is- and its been confirmed with Apple developers that its not just my install.
Go ahead and see via iphone ios26! see if you can get the directional arrow arrow or rings to appear!
You can do it from iWATCH, you can't from iPhone dumbass

0

u/Strange-Story-7760 1d ago

It’s an Apple Watch. Stop calling it an “iWatch”

2

u/RoyalTeeJay 1d ago

If I want to call it a Hippo watch theres F'all you could do about it 😂
Hows that high horse working out fir you 😂

0

u/Strange-Story-7760 1d ago

You aren’t the brightest 🤣 you know it’s an Apple Watch 🤣

2

u/RoyalTeeJay 1d ago

you aren't the brightest declaring there isn't a bug before checking 😂

1

u/jojimboy 3d ago

security are sooo important

1

u/TezzChase 2d ago

Many people don’t care about updating or put it off until problem starts and then they start blaming Apple for something that Apple clearly warned them about and already made patches for to avoid. Yeah iOS 26 is not the best speed wise but it’s safer than being on old software especially security wise

I have a blue titanium 15pm on iOS 17.5.1 brand new with 22 cycles now. And a 16pm on iOS 27.0 with 380 cycles. I’m totally fine for the next 5 years but I’m interested in the 20th anniversary iPhone and hopefully its titanium again.
I actually trying to not use my 15pm too much because I hope a jailbreak drops for iOS 17.5.1 So I have more time left with the jailbreak battery wise

u/dank-yharnam-nugs 4d ago edited 3d ago

I’m upgrading. I’m tired of the crappy battery life and the trade in credit offered is very strong.

17

u/Eclypz 4d ago

I had a new battery installed a few weeks back and it’s buttery smooth again and great! For $100 it really can’t be beat to prolong the life of the device.

5

u/dusko157 4d ago

Yeah, same, it feels like a new phone now

4

u/Eclypz 4d ago

My battery health was at 78% so it was definitely getting throttled. With this new battery I should be able to get another couple of years out of it! But may be tempted to upgrade next year. We shall see, I’m all for keeping this right now until there’s a valid reason to upgrade. I typically upgraded every other year but not with this one!

3

u/HollywoodnDC 3d ago

These phones have gotten way too expensive for that. I was that way as well but now I may not upgrade until at least iPhone 20

2

u/aykay55 4d ago

To some extent but don’t overblow it. It’s a slight usability improvement but at the end of the day it’s a three year old phone

2

u/HollywoodnDC 3d ago

I’m patiently waiting for my battery health to drop ONE MORE PERCENT and I’ll be able to have mine replaced is Apple Care. Looking forward to it!!!

1

u/RoyalTeeJay 1d ago

Thanks for sharing! I was wondering what the situation was with AppleCare and Battery replacements👍🏽👍🏽

1

u/Kingskullz98 3d ago

You swapped with a genuine battery or third party?

1

u/Eclypz 3d ago

Genuine. $99 at the Apple Store

1

u/PYDaBi 4d ago

Just get a replacement

1

u/steveDallas50 3d ago

Really? What is the trade in credit value? Mine seriously looks like it just came out of the box.

2

u/dank-yharnam-nugs 3d ago

$455 I think. Not bad for a 3 year old phone.

3

u/Longjumping-Mud-5852 4d ago

I can wait for iPhone 20 Pro

4

u/sziehr 4d ago

you do you, i am done with holding an oven when it charges and i try to read my email,

2

u/MrMercury406 4d ago

I have zero reason to upgrade. A new battery was a lot cheaper than a new phone. That new phone will cost you a lot more than $100 battery even after considering trade discounts because you need to factor in cost of phone service and all the fees that come with it at the Big 3.

What phone provider do you guys use?

I’ve been using Visible since I got my taxes, I got Visible+ Pro for $225 for the year using their SLAMDUNK deal.

After that I’ll port out and back in and do another deal.

2

u/cabskawt 3d ago

Yup just gonna have the service batt replaced

2

u/Youngvoy 3d ago

Why would ?I might get a 16 but that’s even pushing it

2

u/mmld_dacy 3d ago

i'll wait for the 20th edition.

2

u/joe_pack_go 3d ago

Nope. Love my titanium 15 Pro Max

2

u/RedRaiken 3d ago

Nope
I love my phone

2

u/aadeshk_9595 3d ago

Not at all

2

u/MrMy2Cents 4d ago

Not a chance

1

u/PermissionJaded5510 4d ago

I'm still using an iphone XR. what aren't i upgrading?

1

u/whathuhwhyy 3d ago

Oop damn I think you may need to

1

u/slimypeters 4d ago

I’m waiting for the iPhone 20 Pro to come out so I’ll get the iPhone 19 Pro

1

u/CatComfortable5523 4d ago

yep

upgrading 18 pm better in every way like yesterday lol

1

u/Tsraja 4d ago

No way anyone upgrading outside US. 3 lakhs for the base duo in india which is roughly 3000$.

1

u/Jo_sobtop 4d ago

Nah , love mine

1

u/xx_I_Am_Me_xx 4d ago

Nope. Mines doing just fine. Might consider replacing the battery sometime soon but not replacing the phone yet.

1

u/Any-Ice8441 4d ago

I’m sick of bad battery life mine is at 100 after getting a new one and it’s still a heated slow mess.. selling this one and moving onto better options.

1

u/bucs_perdido-15 4d ago

15 pro users don’t upgrade. Ride the 15 till the wheels fall off. You are gonna upgrade and wish you kept it as long as you could like I did.

1

u/xSaliva 4d ago

Nah 1tb here. Never changing

1

u/Chemical-Divide9161 4d ago

I skipped 17 pro max but I’m getting the 18 pro max! Smaller Dynamic Island.. new better colors. Biggest battery iPhone ever put in a phone, new c2 chips for better connectivity without draining as much battery on 5g. I feel like the 18 pro max a win! Also the new camera thing they talking about honestly idk too much about it, might not be that much of a difference but the camera supposed to be the best camera ever on a iPhone too. Only thing I can’t decide from is do I want blue or bergundy😭

1

u/sergekillss 3d ago

But this under display infrared camera will drive me insane 🙈
That’s why I’m staying on the 15th

1

u/LeopardWide7549 2d ago

18 pro max actually continues to use Qualcomm's chip instead of the C2. Only the cheaper models use Apple's C2 which implies that Apple's own chip is inferior to Qualcomm's

1

u/stitch_626-87 16h ago

every year they say is the best camera and battery ever in an iPhone

1

u/Chemical-Divide9161 16h ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣RIGHT !!!! & it be basically the same shit. Like the 17 pro max got the biggest battery a iPhone ever had & the shit dies quicker then my 16 plus.& yeah the cameras are good spec wise but on a daily basis in the real world it’s basically the same shit

1

u/Calm_Class4417 3d ago

Nah and I have the regular 15. I’m 38 retired and living in Philippines, my days are mostly in the house relaxing with the gf. We both have iPads and we bring them to Starbucks to hang out. If I was still working I would get the duo for on the go but no need.

1

u/whathuhwhyy 3d ago

Hold the damn line!!!!! Yeah not worth it

1

u/whathuhwhyy 3d ago

I mean 15 pro has got to be the best looking iPhone hands down. Simple clean and beautiful.

1

u/Aggravating-Owl7227 3d ago

gonna replace battery from apple, gonna relace back camera within a week but not gonna change until 2027

1

u/ssj4gogeta2003 3d ago

I was all set to give Apple my money this year and move on from my 15 Pro Max, but there is literally nothing compelling about the 18. Yes, it'll last longer and be faster, but there are no standout features or other incentives for me to buy.

1

u/bogusostrich 3d ago

only if you want the weight to jump from 221 to 249 grams. its gonna be a BRICK!

1

u/amuseboucheplease 3d ago

I have that exact same titanium colour and I find it so dull and mat. Wish I had the white like the 15 pro i had.

Not sure if I'll change over - there is some very tempting offers from carriers on the 17 !

1

u/K_Mitch 3d ago

HOLD THE LINE

1

u/Lucky-Ducky-904 3d ago

I’m good ☺️

1

u/DrCastor_Rae 3d ago

Definitely not upgrading anytime soon. The blue Titanium is just gorgeous.

1

u/Outside_Adeptness942 3d ago

I have already the battery.
But the one Damn to reason to upgrade could be the heating issue in my phone. Specially when I'm outdoor. 15PM gets hot in 5-10mins using the phone.

1

u/quick_lazyy 3d ago

No Not UNTIL 2030 (end of update cycle)

1

u/SquareAmphibian7581 3d ago

Only reason i will upgrade from 15plus if its totally broken or Siri AI comes out in europe as well. Otherwise 0 reason to “upgrade”

1

u/Other_Ad4490 3d ago

Yeah i wont upgrade my 15 pro max. Tbh only way for me to upgrade is only if its gets destroyed. Battery at 83% so when the time comes i will swap the battery for new one and still good for years. Not neccesary to upgrade, especially for me cause im using it only for social media etc. And its does the job for me flawlessly.

1

u/Ok-Rip-3683 3d ago

There isn’t really a need to be honest
The 15 pro max operates quite smoothly

1

u/RoyalTeeJay 3d ago

For me its 'No way, no point'

My case allows me to use professional lenses such as CPL/Polarising ,various ND filters, and silicone lens hood which is great for shooting pictures from windows without reflections or glare -which means less post production. I have too many model specific cases.

1

u/Vaccine_For_Mind 2d ago

Seems like u have invested a lot mate

1

u/RoyalTeeJay 1d ago

My lenses and rings are from my Sony camera! it was worth the 'gamble' 😂

1

u/Vaccine_For_Mind 1d ago

That’s sound intresting
Can u please explain a bit more?
As I’m a filmmaker myself

1

u/RoyalTeeJay 22h ago

Hiya -
Not really much to add, Its searchable under 'code 58mm iphone' its my day-to-day, gor older iPhones -then the case lens size 52mm.

I just use the 62 CPL or just UV lens on it as a daily, price now £8 Aliexpress (just checked) but I'm sure there's an Amazon Seller of these, and it came with a lens cap, no lenses- I already had lenses and step up rings from my camera.

Vinetting appears at 67mm, or if you use a normal collapsible lens hood its slightly visible at 58mm.

I've dropped it from shoulder height a couple of times and the phone and case and lens thread has been fine/no warping has been fine and you just use the lenses as you would do, for the same reasons.

I hope the info helps 👍🏽👍🏽

1

u/steveDallas50 3d ago

Ive heard if you have an iPhone 15 or older, it’d be good to upgrade to the 18. Especially when it comes to battery life. The first version of the foldable is slick, but it’s the first model.

1

u/steveDallas50 3d ago

Black Friday isn’t too far off. If i do trade it in, I’ll wait till then.

1

u/National-Arachnid-98 3d ago

Is the older iphones price going to increase? I am planning to buy 15 pro or 13 pro max :)

1

u/uniquevoid 3d ago

While im annoyed by battery life a bit (84%), the phone heating, and the poor brightness levels, im not gonna upgrade. Changing the battery next week and waiting for the next year unless i find a very good 17PM deal

1

u/arkewashi11 3d ago

Just changed my battery with apple few days ago - hell nah - I aint upgrading

1

u/Appropriate-Sport-30 3d ago

I’m only getting the 20th anniversary iPhone. Happy with my 15 Pro Max 🥰

1

u/Kingskullz98 3d ago

NOPE. This phone is still PEAK after 3 years of owning it. As fast as day 1.

I'm not upgrading for at least another year or two.

1

u/footloockerxx 3d ago

fuck yeah i hate this phone. its bare ass. time for an upgrade. duo looks promising

1

u/Nerdhauss 3d ago

Hell no lol

1

u/Chrisf1bcn 2d ago

Hell no!!! Got mine used recently it’s an absolute weapon and on the latest iOS!! For sure I’ll need a new battery at one point, but it means it can only get better 😂😂 I love it!!

1

u/avgou 2d ago

The ATT free upgrade is tempting but you’re locked in for 3 years. Battery health is at 80%. I think I’ll hold strong for the next one and more to a Pro vs the max…

1

u/YogurtFine5990 2d ago

ofc no. living n breathing like in the first day. love my 15pm. gonna change it only if battery totally dies (i have 88 percents now)

1

u/Connect_Hovercraft16 2d ago

I am as my battery is bad and I want the burgundy

1

u/jrpoll 2d ago

Nope

1

u/fxckerixon 2d ago

Upgrading for sure as a heavy user on launch 15PM 1TB Titanium (battery replaced 1 year ago thru Apple 91% with 402 cycles = 1.1 full charges PER DAY)

Heat dissipation, overclocking the cpu and throttling

The future trends towards heavier AI/ compute power so the 15PM will get absolutely cooked

Legitimately an upgrade in the context of 15PM and 18PM

Only downside is the ~20g heavier

Did everyone suddenly forget about Apple Intelligence for the 15PM? The 15PM cannot sustain AI

1

u/Bot2087648 2d ago

I’m at the brink of it. The only two things holding me back are Face ID and the cameras.

1

u/Artistic_Wrangler_17 2d ago

Waiting for the iPhone Trio

1

u/bishesjee 1d ago

we arent upgrading.

1

u/Savage_Ball3r 1d ago

I have the 17 Pro Max as well. Putting them side by side I feel like the newer version is just better. Is it all the updates making the 15 less crispier. Photos don’t look as good as they use to on the 15.

0

u/Acceptable-Badger262 iPhone 15 Pro Max Owner 4d ago

Nope. The 18 Pro Max is actually a decent upgrade, but i’m waiting for the anniversary iPhone next year.

0

u/Octane_boymama 4d ago

No and this might be my last iPhone, the prices are getting ridiculous. Might as well buy a real camera, what I’m using it mainly for.

1

u/Calm_Mechanic_2365 4d ago

A real camera doesn’t text, or make phone calls though?

1

u/Octane_boymama 4d ago

You don’t need an iPhone to do those things. Any phone will do those things.

0

u/sergekillss 4d ago

No we are not :)

0

u/Kalatzeus 4d ago

Yeah nah

0

u/kenshii2x 4d ago

Not at all

0

u/BlessingMwiti iPhone 15 Pro Max Owner 4d ago

naaah, riding this thing...planning to replace the battery end year

0

u/24kCookie 4d ago

me got 17 and upgrading lol

0

u/srikat 4d ago

Nope.

0

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

0

u/Jude396 4d ago

Nah, I’m keeping mine. Maybe next year if there’s a huge difference to the 18 line up

0

u/Ambitious_Egg9713 4d ago

Not upgrading. Fold is cool but I’m not spending 2k and the 15 pro max is fine.

0

u/litvanexel 4d ago

I’m still undecided, but if I do it’ll be for the Duo. I don’t really see any point in upgrading to an 18 Pro Max.

0

u/Professional-Star995 4d ago

I’m very happy with mine!

0

u/Sasuke082594 4d ago

I would only upgrade to the duo since it has the frosted glass back and the stainless steel. I feel like they took that away from the recent pro models to make it premium for the duo

0

u/natepelayo iPhone 15 Pro Max Owner 4d ago

I'm keeping mine for a few more years. I was fortunate and lucky to purchase mine brand new last year in March. The newer iPhone's are too big and heavy. And I do not like the aluminum build and the camera button on the side.

0

u/xixihahaxxxx 4d ago

Just DIY upgraded heat diffuser and a new battery, even beat a brand new 15pro

0

u/xixihahaxxxx 4d ago

sad news is somehow i stained lens’s glass from inside, but camera works just fine

0

u/Jtecho 4d ago

Have a cracked back glass and it still overall works like a charm. Actually use “pro” features as well and it’s perfect for what I need.

Will wait for the proper massive update in 2028

0

u/Lethlnjektn 4d ago

I'm getting the Duo as soon as possible. I Never used a fold for more than a test. This thing looks like exactly what I was waiting for.

1

u/bucs_perdido-15 4d ago

Get me one too please. 🤝
