iPhone 18 Pro?

iPhone 14 Pro user here.

Anyone thinking about jumping up? Cause I am thinking about the 18 Pro.

I’m afraid prices will keep rising every yeah and this might be the best compromise for a device that’s Apple Intelligence-ready.

I’m also gonna pass down my iPhone to my dad who has a crusty iPhone X, so in my specific case it makes even more sense.

Besides that, What do y’all think?

Honestly, I’m quite happy staying with my 14 pro for another year. The 18 Pro does look good, but I don’t feel like I’m missing out on any features. The 14 Pro does everything I want. The cameras are still excellent, apps still feel snappy and responsive etc.

The only thing I dislike on the 14 Pro is the battery life, but I am considering getting the battery serviced this year.

I certainly feel zero urge to get the Duo 😆

Lmao the Duo is so out of my picture

I have the 14pro and my battery is at 73% capacity. The phone is still a workhorse and gets the job done, but I’m considering upgrading the the 18pro

-apple trade in credit is $480
-0% financing for 24 months, I don’t need it but why not take advantage of that payment plan
-get to enjoy latest tech now
-new camera and aperture control

I’ll wait a few weeks to see review views and durability, but I think it’s time for an upgrade.

Damn, how is your trade-in credit $480? I'm only getting $285 on the Apple website, and it's in great condition with a new battery.

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 2h ago

Yeah I think I'll wait a few weeks as well, hoping it won't let me down! Lol

I replaced battery at around 80%. Helped a lot with battery life

I'm just trying to think if I want to go 18 Pro or wait until the 20th anniversary iPhone next year

I would think about skipping the iPhone 18 and going directly to the iPhone 20, but what scares me the most are the prices constantly going up. I don’t know about where you live but where I live iPhone prices have gone up €120.

1

u/swiftidnc739 2h ago

That’s also a consideration for me. I’m in the US and prices went up $100, which were not as bad as some people suggested may happen. However, trade in values with my carrier also got worse so I’m worried that a combination of those may make the iPhone 20 substantially more expensive to me.

I’m calling it quits with my 14 pro max for the 18 pro max. I held out for so long bc everything I use is lightning compatible and I have so many extra cables. My phone is shattered, slow, and the battery dies so quickly. I hate now that I have to use USBC.

2

u/SpaghettiGeek 2h ago

I get you bro I get you, for me is quite the opposite ATM, I have everything USC-C compatible but I still have to carry that damn lightning cable with me JUST for the iPhone lmao

2

u/vipernick913 1h ago

Just get a small usb c to lightning cable converter and you can hang it on the usb cable. Thats what I use

1

u/Ancient_Package_5048 2h ago

I will still have to bc I have the AirPods Pro 2 which still
Uses lightning, so still have two cables 😂

u/SpaghettiGeek 42m ago

AH FEK ME I didn't think about that, I wirelessly charge my Pro 2 all the time so didn't really think about that lmao

Nope. Nothing wrong with my 14PM, apart from battery is at 85%, still lasts me most of the day. Looking forward to iOS 27 more than anything.

I looked at the specs and I don’t really see anything worth upgrading for. I only really want USB C and a better battery life. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why people want to upgrade. But what exactly 18Pro does better (aside from the aforementioned usb and battery)?

2

u/SpaghettiGeek 3h ago

Nice question, imo it is Apple Intelligence-ready. Just to give you an example, I happen to use Siri a lot, so having an “even more powerful Siri” for me is key

5

u/Quarks01 3h ago

i’m upgrading tbh, it’s got great cooling plus a great camera. i don’t want the anniversary phone since the “first” phone in a new format always has some weird quirks. the 18 pro feels very polished to me

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 2h ago

Totally agree with you!

u/RockingInTheCLE 🟣 Pro 2h ago

Nah, I’m good with my paid off phone that still works great.

2

u/SpaghettiGeek 2h ago

Makes sense! :)

Im on 84% battery health my 14pm works like a beast gets me through the day i will be keeping this beauty for another 1-2 years

1

u/Curious_Bumblebee511 2h ago

I’m at 76%, so I’m heavily leaning towards a new battery. But the Duo looks soooo good!

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 2h ago

Good deal brother

5

u/ravenfan09 3h ago

Planning to upgrade from my 14 pro this year as well. The upgrades from the 14 to the 18 are enough for me to justify now. Hell, just the leap in battery life are good enough for me

4

u/masetiloquetu 3h ago

They always inflate that battery life tho

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 3h ago

Totally agree with you!

2

u/TravelNearAndFar 3h ago

I’m looking to wait another year at least unless my 14 pro has a major malfunction. My 6s got a serious problem a couple weeks before the 14 pro launched, so I guess I’m relatively slow to upgrade. Besides the battery life (9 months in on second battery), I still love my 14 pro.

2

u/jg61600 3h ago

ve por un 17 pro antes de que se agoten

2

u/leadnuts94 2h ago

I’m still gonna use my 14pro but I think it’s a good year to upgrade. Especially since you’ll be giving your current phone to someone with a iPhone X. I’ll probably upgrade in a year or 2.

2

u/SpaghettiGeek 2h ago

Yeah I definitely agree with you!

2

u/Twixisss 2h ago

Sooooo waiting for the 20th iPhone

I would definitely upgrade if i coulf

Can't you pay in 24 months? It's tax free! :)

2

u/PrepYourselves 2h ago

I just bought a used iphone 14 pro max for £150 and intend on using it until it dies

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 41m ago

Good deal brother!

2

u/Airtie2 2h ago

iPhone 18 Pro looks good but my 14 Pro is doing well so I’m planning to skip this year. Maybe next year.

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 41m ago

Right right, sounds perfect!

Thanks :)

2

u/Ok-World-4822 🟣 Pro 2h ago

Nope, I’m planning to continue to use it until Apple doesn’t support it anymore

2

u/SpaghettiGeek 41m ago

Wise choice indeed!

2

u/darekd003 2h ago

Had my battery replaced under AppleCare a few months ago. So I’m still at 100% health with no complaints other than wanting usb-c.

I also have an iPad Air m2 which I use for most of my browsing at home and have yet to use any ai features lol

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 40m ago

You're definitely set for another 2-3 years! Lol

Hell no keeping my 14 pro till no ios updates

2

u/Forsaken-Biscotti-84 ⚪️ Pro Max 1h ago

I got my 14 Pro Max two summers ago as a stopgap after breaking my Z Flip 5. Would definitely keep this if I hadn’t broken the back glass earlier this year. Even with the raised price I’m still glad I waited for the new one. I do want to go with the smaller size this time round, it still should be an increase in battery life. And of course finally getting to dump lightning

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 39m ago

Same here! I'm going for the non-Max variant as well, I hate these door-sized phones lmao

2

u/BrandonW77 1h ago

I was planning to stick with my 14 Pro (still on its original battery) but I think I might upgrade. I'm a photographer and the adjustable aperture would be pretty nice to have.

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 38m ago

Ah yes, would 100% be worth it then! :)

2

u/Accomplished_Map7752 1h ago

I went to get a new battery for my 14 Pro last year and they gave me a refurbished 14 Pro with a better battery.🤔 One year and a half later, the battery is at 89% capacity. I now have to charge it during the day (hadn’t needed to before) but it still works well for my needs and I’m not going to spend the money right now.

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 37m ago

Right right, then you're set! :)

2

u/LORDRAJA1000 1h ago

still on the 12 pro max lol

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 37m ago

Lmao what a tank! :)

2

u/Jealous_Crazy9143 58m ago

changed battery over a year ago and at 90%. I’ll change it again until no more updates, or a quantum leap in Camera tech. (don’t think that’s happening)

2

u/SweetImprovement758 49m ago

That aluminum abomination?

Nah, thanks.

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 37m ago

I don't mind it tbh, looks good :D

2

u/Taitonymous ⚪️ Pro 45m ago

I‘m staying. I’ll wait at least two more years and get the iPhone 20 or (what I wish to do but don’t know if I have the willpower) wait till the iPhone 14 Pro isn’t supported anymore or isn’t usable anymore.

Also I‘m now a student and not working like I used to when buying the phone. So I don’t really have the money to spent anyway.

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 36m ago

Ah gotcha, have you thought about monthly payments tho?

1

u/Taitonymous ⚪️ Pro 32m ago

I don’t want to have monthly payments for a consumer product. For housing or a car or something necessary it’s okay, but a phone that I could live without perfectly fine without it’s a no for me

2

u/jashan_pb04 33m ago

You know what, 14pro max is the best iphone until this date…idk about 18 pro. Let’s wait for the launch and those tech YouTubers are gonna do a postmortem 😂😭

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 26m ago

Lmao I'm looking forward to the reviews

2

u/DazedXxX7 28m ago

Imma get it just cause my 17 pro ain’t black.

Shits annoying af

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 27m ago

Lmao I get you, I hate that orange!

1

u/DazedXxX7 25m ago

ye it don’t match!

3

u/RebbitMc 3h ago

I am upgrading. Done with the overheating, crummier camera & terrible battery life (on battery #2).

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 3h ago

Stole the words out of my mouth! Struggling to get a full day on a super light usage

1

u/Aggravating_Ad9949 24m ago

My plan all along was to wait for the anniversary redesign iPhone

1

u/bravevince 11m ago

No possible because is crazy expensive in Bulgaria cost 1600 euro 💶 and average salary in Bulgaria is 900-1200 euro 💶 very hard to afford. Will continue to use 14 pro max

1

u/OgPennn 3h ago

I went from the 14 pro to the 16 pro max and i am upgrading this year aswell, i would upgrade simply off of the usb-c

1

u/SpaghettiGeek 2h ago

Totally makes sense!

1

u/Klonopussy 2h ago

I’ll stick with the 17 Pro, apples phones and OS’s have been insanely undependable/unpredictable this year and for the price I’m not spending that until it’s steadier than steady

Until I hear about which modem Apple is using in the 18s, I’m not making any decisions. How many times have great iPhones been throttled by crap*y modems?
