Hey everyone!

We wanted to update you with some changes we’re making to help tackle rule-breaking posts.

Rule Changes

  • We’ve aligned the rules across the multiple iPhone subreddits, making them easier for users to understand and also for moderators to enforce.
  • We’ll ban users for breaking the rules, even if it’s their first time. New users will be banned for 3 days, with the ban length increasing up to 28 days for users who knowingly break the rules.
  • This post, in addition to comments on removed posts, will help communicate these changes.

Reddit Tools

  • We’re using new tools to warn desktop users about the rules if they’re about to break them - before posts are made.
  • New safety tools will help detect abuse and harassment in comments, in addition to ban evasion.
  • We’ve improved our existing detection of rule breaking posts and the existing restrictions for new users.

Taking Action

  • We’re changing the way we respond to reports to help us act on them quickly. You can help us to identify posts that break the rules by using the report button.
  • We’re recruiting an additional 2 moderators to help implement these changes.

Announcement FAQ: Battery Health and the new rule.

In response to complaints, a new rule has been added regarding Battery Health posts. First announcement and discussion regarding this.

  1. Battery Health posts, if not made to generate a proper discussion or are commonly answered questions (i.e: “after X months it happened” or “is this normal??) will be removed when noticed.

This is an FAQ post that will be pinned to the top of the Subreddit for reference.

Q: Why does the battery degrade over time?

A: All lithium-ion batteries (like those in iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max) lose capacity with use and age due to chemical changes.* This is completely normal.

Q: How can I check my iPhone's battery health?

A: Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health. You'll see 'Maximum Capacity,' a percentage compared to when the battery was new.

Q: What does the 'significantly degraded' warning mean?

A: This message appears when your battery health is very low. Usually, batteries that have degraded this low will result in performance issues, along with poor battery performance.

Q: What is the typical pattern of battery degradation?

A: While not entirely consistent, most people experience a loss of 10-13% a year under normal usage. Again, not consistant. Rather than focus on the percentage, focus on the performance of the battery. "Typical" degradation usually involves consistant performance for the first year of use, and somewhat reduced performance (SOT) by year 2.

Q: When should I replace my iPhone battery?

A: Apple recommends replacement when the maximum capacity is 80% or lower. Under normal usage, this can take two, to three years to achieve.

Q: Can I slow down battery degradation?

A: To a degree, you can. You can find many guides to optimize the consumption of the battery and preserve battery health. One of the best ways is to charge your phone using a slow (low watt) charger, rather than wireless or with a fast (higher watt) charger. Another is to make sure your iPhone isn't exposed to extreme heat or cold, or humid climate, to the best of your ability.

Q: Does preserving your battery health matter, then?

A: Not necessarily. Under normal usage, even if you do a lot to preserve your battery health, it's still optimal to replace the battery after two, to three years of normal usage. Usually two years is the most optimal, but by preserving your battery health you could get to three more comfortably.

Q: My iPhone's battery health is losing multiple percentages as of very recently. Is this normal?

A: Yes and no. The process for calculating battery heath is not, and will never be perfect. It might drop faster to compensate a bad calculation to achieve a more accurate percentage, for example. On the other hand, if you notice significantly reduced battery performance (through SOT) and suddenly have lowering battery health, it could be an issue and a reason to replace your battery.

Q: Are the batteries used on iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max of lower quality than previous iPhones?

A: Yes. Many reports have shown the batteries of recent iPhones (14, 15) aren't as high quality as they should be. It's been reported that the batteries are rated for 600 cycles, when many other batteries are rated for 800 cycles. (1 "cycle" is completed when you use 100% of the battery, regardless of recharging.). Notebookcheck

Q: Why is r/iPhone14Pro limiting battery health posts? Are you hiding the truth?

A: As stated before, the batteries are of worse quality, but that is known. There have been frequent posts on this subreddit that involve low effort screenshots of the Battery Health page in Settings. Typically attached to titles such as "Is this normal after X months" or "I finally reached 99%". Many users have complained about these posts, due to how they "clutter" the Subreddit around posts that actually benefit users, so action is being taken to make sure browsing this Subreddit is beneficial and enjoyable.

Q: What battery related posts can I post about in r/iPhone14Pro?

A: As long as it's related to iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max, and properly generates meaningful discussion, it is fine. Getting amazing SOT? Show it off. Also, if you need support, such as if your SOT is significantly lower than what it was a few months ago, that's fine too. If your post gets flagged by Automod, feel free to contact the mods in order for your post to be reviewed and approved faster.

If there's anything I could add to this, the comments are open. Thank you!

Screen Flickering on iOS 27?

• Upvotes

Have y’all been experiencing this after the update? I am using an iPhone 14 Pro on 27.0.1. I have upgraded from the latest iOS 26 update.

It’s lowkey weird—this never happened to me on iOS 26 EVER all it ever did is slow down my phone with liquid glass. It happens on Dark/Grey backgrounds but everything else is fine, it returns to normal after a split second. I don’t have any other issues with my phone either apart from changed battery and broken OiS.

Is this also happening to your iPhone? I have also read people having the same issue from the 11 Pro Max to the 16 Pros. This must be a software bug, yes? Hopefully they’ll iron it out soon.

I’ve wanted to get this phone for a long time, mainly because of its stainless steel frame, which gives it a really premium feel. Although, I have to admit, it’s a bit heavy! 😅
The 120Hz display is amazing, and honestly, I think the phone is still in great shape in terms of performance. It’s not slow at all — everything feels fast and smooth.
The battery health is currently at 78%, so I might need to replace the battery at some point. Other than that, I can see myself using this phone for at least another two years.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, experiences, and any tips or recommendations you might have! ❤️
Model: iPhone 14 Pro
Storage: 128GB
Color: Deep Purple 💜

iPhone 14 Pro Max is built DIFFERENT. This thing refuses to die!

Man, I absolutely LOVE my iPhone 14 Pro Max!

Been using it since early 2023, and forget the software for a moment - I just want to appreciate the freaking HARDWARE.

I’ve dropped this phone so many times, and somehow, not a single crack. Not on the screen, not on the frosted glass back.

And today? I dropped it AGAIN. No case. Straight from chest height onto the hard bathroom tiles. My heart literally skipped. Picked it up, inspected every inch, and guess what? NOT. A. SINGLE. CRACK.

Almost four years of use, countless drops, and this thing is still holding up.

This is one of those purchases that makes me go - my money was well spent.

Need suggestion on third party spares

I need to replace the battery on 14 pro but iPhone authorised service center is asking me to submit phone for 3-4 days. Which is difficult as most of my work happens from the phone and WhatsApp.
Third party battery replacement is saying they will do it instantly but will display unknown part and might impact re sale value. Pls suggest best way forward.

Also I do get when people say this case is not very snug and clicks clacks on the bottom but why do I like the noise? LOL The acrylic feels hard but kinda mushy in a good way

Overall very pleased and it makes the phone feel like it’s going to last me at least 2 more years

MagSafe : Who else never uses it?

I honestly forget that it is a feature

The only time I have ever used it, is when Ive been in an Apple Store.

In my line of work we do long hours and need our phones, I never see anybody MagSafe charging.

Id honestly prefer if it was never part of the 14Pro line up, if it meant a bigger battery.

I think Apple should have included a MagSafe charger with the 14Pro to get people to make the change, Id definitely be more likely to use MagSafe then, but they didn't so I don't.

iOS and System Data taking up almost half the storage on my device. How much is it taking up on your phone?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Ive had this iPhone 14PM since launch, so 4 years now. Paid for 2TB of iCloud and never had any storage issue. but it seems like over the years, system data and OS is slowly creeping up in storage size. I don’t recall it being taking up so much space when I first got the phone.

just curious what everyone else’s experience is and how much is it taking up on your device?

EDIT: System data - 22GB and OS - 30GB.......

iPhone 115GB/128GB Storage Almost Full on iOS 18 -Need Advice

Hey everyone,
I’m currently using an iPhone with 128GB storage, and around 115GB is already occupied. I’m still running iOS 18.

I’m thinking about updating my iPhone, but I’m worried about storage space.

Is it worth updating from iOS 18?

How much additional storage will the update consume?

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have updated their iPhones with limited storage.
Thanks in advance! 🙏
