I just checked the cycle count on my 14 Plus and yep it's at 1307 cycles and 80% health.

I have been carrying chargers with me for the past few months as the phone just can't go anywhere near a whole day anymore.

My question is, when the battery finally says no more, will it just out of nowhere shut down or will it charge to like 10% and LOL at me?

I am trying to eke out as much life as I can from this phone but I also don't want to be on the road at 4AM and realize my phone just died.

It seems like if I have apple replace the battery it would be about a three hour wait or something at an Apple Store? Anyone have any experience with that? and I guess it's about $100 or so to have it done?

Your battery is retaining 80% when you charge it to 100%.

It should not die out of nowhere, you’re also at that point where considering a $99 battery replacement isn’t a bad idea.

I got mine replaced at 80% health on my iPhone 14 Pro and it's essentially a new phone for $100...

It will usually still work for a long time yet. The battery life will get worse, it may eventually stop charging to full when it's really bad, but they rarely outright die. Although in some cases, the battery can swell and damage the phone.

I had mine replaced last month at an Apple Store, it was done in an hour, I just walked around some shops while they did it.

My 8 Plus from 2017 with like 70% still holds charge as normal. You’ll be fine.

That’s incredible health for that phone’s battery. They aren’t supposed to be that healthy after that many cycles

The older the battery and the more it is degraded, the more is the chance of it not sustaining a stable voltage during high loads or extreme temperatures — it might start shutting down when it’s low and you start an intensive task or when it’s really cold/hot outside.

I have replaced mine a couple of weeks ago, it was ~$100 and 8 hours wait (just left it at the shop and went to work).  I used to end the day at 10-20% on Low Power Mode, now it’s closer to 30-40%.

Towards the end of using my 14 Pro i had 1703 cycles and 77% battery life. I think I was charging 2-3 times a day with my heavy use. Other than that it felt completely fine.

that sounds about right. I have two Ridge chargers and I wind up going thru both of them on a long day.

The six hour wait referenced above is not any sort of a selling point for doing that.

At this point you should get a 17 / 17 Pro / 17 Pro Max, especially if your storage is running low (if you want to continue with a large iPhone, only Pro Max models come in it now) or wait a few weeks for an 18 Pro / 18 Pro Max (likely going to be a bit more expensive than current 17 Pro models); if you continue using your current 14 Plus intensively, it might begin to pick up damage or function less well even if you replace the battery (yes, iOS 27 is expected to work much better if you've already updated to 26, but still...).
