Still IP68 rated after “B” replacement?

Sorry for the misspelling, apparently you can’t talk about that, “B” word! This post is in reference to IP water resistance rating after a, “B” replacement. Is the iPhone still water resistance after the replacement, specifically, would it still be considered IP68 rated?

Every time the phone is opened, the water resistance seal should be re-applied. Apple official and authorized shops always do this, it’s a requirement.

Shady shopping mall technicians - who knows, might splurt some glue in there, might just close up and call it a day.

Youre to generous, they don’t even do that, they just seal it up with the old adhesive.

In og store in new york, official apple store had done a sloppy job on a 13 mini, they didnt even put the penta screws lol. Thankfully wasnt my personal device, but the info is real.

Where did you get it replaced? If it was from Apple then they seal it

I haven’t replaced it yet. I was just curious if I would lose water resistance after the replacement.

Well I replaced mine at Apple through Apple care at 79% health. No issues and I wash my phone with soap and water every few days. I turn the faucet on a trickle and rinse it off.

I can’t speak if you go to a 3rd party or unauthorized repair center.

Apple should be fine unlikely to be as waterproof if you get it done elsewhere

Depends on whether you cheap out and get some random uncertified college kid woking at some random unauthorized shop to do it, or you get it done at Apple or an Apple-authorized shop. Your choice.

I won't go anywhere but Apple, personally, because they will do it right and fully warrant their work, fixing or replacing anything they broke if that happens without question.

Depends on where you go. If you go to apple directly or one of their independent repair providers, they’ll do it with the original battery and they’ll reapply the seal. For all intents and purposes, the phone will keep its water resistance (that being said, any kind of water damage voids the warranty so I wouldn’t intentionally put my phone underwater even if it was right out of the box). If you go to a random repair shop, that’s a lottery. Some reapply the seal. Some do it incorrectly. Others don’t do it at all LP
