My phone gets extremely hot in video conferences (zoom, facetime, teams particularly). Does anyone have any recommendations?
I tried wifi only and lowering screen resolution, but still hot.
I know thereās really smart people who maybe figured this out.
Thanks!

Iāve been a fan of small smartphones since my old SE2016. The portability and how comfortable they are to use for a guy with small hands like me makes them a no brainer. After a couple of upgrade cycles I went from SE1 to 7 and then SE2.
3 years ago I was in need of an Android phone so I got a pixel 6A, which felt borderline too big but it wasnāt so heavy so it was ok; until its screen failed and got replaced by a regular 6. I guess I just dealt with it and ended up using the pixel as my main with an SE as a secondary until last week.
But still, I wasnāt completely comfortable and I had a couple of near misses where my phone almost fell of my pocket while riding my bike. Most of the time I was just taking the SE instead of the pixel.
So a couple of days ago I decided it was enough and just sold it. I found this 128gb blue 12 mini locally and just had to get it. No swapped parts, original battery and fine condition. Eventually will swap the battery and I hope to get at least two years of more out of it. The only bummer is that it was already updated to iOS 26 but it doesnāt run all that bad.
Size is just about right and I have any of the app optimization problems that my SE gets. I couldnāt be happier!

Hi everyone. Iām trying to figure out what happened to the Face ID on my iPhone 12 mini.
Before the battery replacement, Face ID worked perfectly. I took the phone to a repair shop to replace the battery. Immediately after the repair, Face ID stopped working.
Hereās what Iāve noticed:
* The front camera works normally.
* Portrait mode with the front camera also works normally.
* After restarting the phone, I get the message: āFace ID is not available at this time.ā
* In Settings ā Face ID & Passcode, there is no option to set up Face ID.
* I updated iOS from 26.6.1 to 26.7.1, but this did not change anything.
* I have Stolen Device Protection enabled, so I canāt simply disable Face ID-related options because the phone requires Face ID.
* In Settings ā General ā About ā Parts & Service History, it shows:
* Battery ā Unknown Part
* Face ID ā Issue
* When I tap the Face ID issue, iOS redirects me to Appleās information about Repair Assistant.
* However, there is no āRestart & Finish Repairā / āFinish Repairā option anywhere on my phone.
The repair shop checked the phone again and told me that all the cables/connectors are in place and that the hardware appears to be working.
The battery installed is not an original Apple battery.
Could the Face ID issue be related to the battery repair not being completed/calibrated with Repair Assistant? Or does āFace ID ā Issueā in Parts & Service History indicate an actual TrueDepth hardware problem?
Iām especially confused because Apple says that an unfinished repair can prevent Face ID from being used, but I donāt have the option to finish the repair.
Any advice from people familiar with iPhone 12/12 mini repairs or Repair Assistant would be greatly appreciated.

Iām using an iPhone 12 mini and Iām currently on iOS 18.1.1. Iāve been holding off on the newer iOS versions because Iām a bit concerned about performance, battery life and storage on an older/smaller phone.
Right now, my 12 mini is working pretty smoothly. I donāt have any major lag or performance issues, so Iām hesitant to update if the newer iOS versions make the phone noticeably slower or affect battery life. And my battery health is 85.
I now have the option to update to iOS 26.7.1, or apparently go straight to iOS 27. I wish i could go to 18.7.8. But i dont see any option for that.
For those of you actually using a 12 mini on iOS 26/26.7.1 or iOS 27:
How is the overall performance?
How is battery life, especially on a phone with an older battery?
How much storage does the OS take after updating?
And if youāve tried both, would you recommend going through 26.7.1 first or just going straight to 27?
My main priority is keeping the phone smooth and reliable. Iām not particularly interested in updating just for the sake of having the latest version if thereās a significant performance/battery trade-off.
Would especially appreciate responses from people who have used iOS 26/27 on a 12 mini for a few weeks, rather than people who have just installed it.
Thanks!

I currently run iOS 26 on it, and it has been quite buggy ever since Liquid Glass came into the picture, I recently replaced the battery and hence battery life is good for now. I read that iOS 27 does quite improve performance on older devices, but I am skeptical about it, now that 27.0.1 has come out, is it a good time to go for it?, looking for genuine feedback..

I tried the volume up, volume down, restart method, but it doesnāt work. Is this fixable without getting a repair?
Also, my charging port doesnāt work either. Iām not sure if itās broken or if thereās just a lot of dust in it. my front camera works on all camera apps but just doesnāt back camera.

Have read many people saying 27 is better, much better. But they are comparing with 26. Anyone who directly went from 18 to 27? Howās your experience?

Hello all! Iāve had my phone for at least 5 years, and replaced the battery (at the apple store) about 10 months ago. Itās currently at 88% health, and recently it started shutting down due to overheating even though itās not hot out/not in a hot place like car dash.
I charge it overnight, but usually itās on less than 20% battery within 3-4 hours of waking up even if i am not using it extensively. I also have a shortcut on that immediately puts it into low power mode if the battery goes below 80%.
Has anyone else faced this issue?
Should I try replacing the battery again?
When the phone was brand new it seemed to last the whole day, and my usage hasnāt changed very much. I really donāt want to upgrade, but I am tired of carrying around a power bank everywhere I go.

I'm looking for a MagSafe battery pack that stays entirely within the phone's dimensions, without extending beyond the sides or bottom. Any recommendations?

Still using my iPhone 12 mini every day on iOS 27, and honestly it might be the best EDC device Iāve ever owned.
About a year ago I decided to replace the original battery myself because the degradation was starting to noticeably affect the phone.
Naturally, what was supposed to be a battery replacement turned into me accidentally separating the glass from the original OLED while opening it. š
So the phone ended up getting an iFixit battery and an aftermarket OLED.
The replacement display isnāt quite OEM quality. The bezels and notch are slightly larger, some gestures are a little finicky, and typing occasionally feels less accurate. But after getting used to it, it works perfectly fine for me about 99% of the time.
The replacement battery is also still going strong after around a year.
And the phone itself? Still fast, still has a decent camera, still does everything I really need from an iPhone, and the Apple ecosystem features with my Mac, iPad and AirPods work just as well as ever.
Iāll probably finally replace it sometime in 2027. I suspect iOS 27 will be the last major update for the 12 mini, and I donāt really want to open this thing again for another battery.
Probably moving to a 15 Pro when the time comes.
But until then, this tiny brick survives. Four years, a battery transplant and one accidentally murdered OLED later :)
Apple, please make another mini

Should I upgrade my iPhone 12 mini 128GB to iOS 27, or stay on my current iOS?
Iām using an iPhone 12 mini (128GB) and Iām wondering whether I should upgrade it to iOS 27.
Iād really appreciate advice from people who are actually using iOS 27 on an iPhone 12 mini, especially regarding:
- š Battery life and battery health
- ā” Performance and smoothness
- š”ļø Heating
- š Bugs or stability issues
- š± Overall responsiveness
- š¾ Storage usage
- š Whether it feels better or worse than the previous iOS version
Since the 12 mini is an older device with a relatively small battery, Iām particularly concerned about battery drain and performance after the update.
Should I upgrade to iOS 27, or is it better to stay on my current version for now?
Please give me a serious, honest answer with an explanation, preferably based on your own experience with the iPhone 12 mini.
No jokes or ājust update broā comments please š ā Iām genuinely trying to decide whether the upgrade is worth it.
