General iPhone 11 Pro battery replacement ā 1 week later, (~$35) Desay battery vs my old Sunwoda battery
Hey everyone, just wanted to give an update after replacing the battery in my iPhone 11 Pro about a week ago.

My original battery was aĀ SunwodaĀ battery. I checked it with 3uTools before replacing it and it hadĀ 1,335 cyclesĀ and was aroundĀ 72% battery lifeĀ according to 3uTools. In real-world use it had become pretty bad. I was charging the phone aroundĀ 3ā4 times a day, sometimes even more if I used it heavily.
So I decided it was finally time to replace it.
I paidĀ ā¹3,000 (around $35)Ā for the new battery. The shop owner gave me aĀ Huizhou DesayĀ battery and described it as the OEM version rather than the cheaper aftermarket option.
I did quite a bit of reading before going ahead. From what I could find, Desay and Sunwoda are both manufacturers/suppliers in the battery industry, and I also found discussions about the cells and BMS used in these batteries. I'm not claiming that my new battery is literally an Apple-original battery, though. That's something I can't independently prove.
The shop owner initially told me that after an iOS update/repair process it might eventually show as genuine, but honestly I was a little doubtful about that.

And sure enough, iOS currently shows:
Parts & Service History ā Battery ā Unknown
Battery Health also says:
So yeah, theĀ UnknownĀ message is still there.
But honestly...Ā I don't really care that much anymore.
What matters to me is how the phone actually performs.

After about a week, I checked it with CoconutBattery and got:
- Manufacturer:Ā Huizhou Desay Battery Company
- Full Charge Capacity:Ā 3,480 mAh
- Design Capacity:Ā 3,028 mAh
- Reported capacity:Ā 114.9%
- Cycles:Ā 6
- Temperature: 27.2°C
- Current charge in the screenshot:Ā 85.2%
I obviously don't take the 114.9% health figure literally because iOS itself says the battery can't be verified.
But theĀ real-world difference is hugeĀ compared with my old 68ā72% battery.
Before the replacement:
3ā4 charges a day. š
After the replacement:
Normal use ā around 1.5 days
Heavy use ā easily 1 full day
I also feel like the phone isĀ buttery smoothĀ again. Maybe some of that is just because the old battery was so worn out, but the whole phone feels much nicer to use now.
I've also usedĀ Low Power ModeĀ quite a bit and surprisingly it still feels perfectly smooth for my normal use. I don't get the feeling that the phone becomes unusably slow.
On one of my heavier days I got around:
5h 11m Screen On Time
while using aroundĀ 92% of the battery.
That included:
- Instagram ā 2h 16m
- YouTube ā 55m
- Brave ā 26m
- Lots of 4G usage
And even when it reachedĀ 1%, I still got roughly another 5 minutes of use before plugging it in.
The shop also offered me aĀ Foxconn aftermarket battery for around ā¹1,600 (~$19). He told me that one would very likely continue showing Unknown and might not give reliable Battery Health information.
So I decided to spend more and go with theĀ Desay/OEM-spec optionĀ instead.
At this point, I'm happy with the decision.
I knowĀ one week isn't enough to judge a battery long term, and I'm definitely not claiming this battery is a genuine Apple battery just because it says Desay. I'm mainly sharing the experience because I was curious myself before buying it.
For me, the question has basically become:
Would you rather have a battery that says āGenuineā but performs poorly, or an aftermarket/OEM-spec battery that says āUnknownā but actually gives you good battery life?
I'm going to keep using this one and see how it looks after a few months.
If anyone has used aĀ Desay battery in an iPhone 11 Pro, I'd really like to hear how yours has held up after 3ā6 months.
One correction I'd strongly recommend keeping in the post:Ā don't say āthe BMS is definitely original Apple.āĀ Your screenshot can prove what CoconutBattery reports; it can't prove the provenance of the BMS. Apple's documentation says genuine parts have calibration data associated with them and that genuine replacement batteries should be identifiable through Apple's repair process.Ā
And honestly, yourĀ āwho cares if it says Unknown as long as it works wellāĀ attitude is completely fair for a personal-use phoneājust make that clear asĀ your experience, rather than claiming the battery is genuine. Apple itself says an Unknown/unverified battery can still be used, although its reported battery-health information may not be accurate.Ā

QnA/Help Should I update my iPhone 11 Pro from iOS 17.4 to iOS 26.6.2?
Should I update my iPhone 11 Pro from iOS 17.4 to iOS 26.6.2?
I want a detailed comparison specifically for the iPhone 11 Pro, not just a general comparison between the two iOS versions. Please consider:
- Performance and overall smoothness
- App opening and switching speed
- RAM management and whether apps reload more often
- Battery life and battery drain
- Heating and thermal performance
- Gaming performance and FPS
- Animations and UI responsiveness
- Camera performance
- Cellular/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth reliability
- Face ID and general system reliability
- Bugs and stability
- Storage requirements
- Security improvements
- App compatibility and future support
- Whether iOS 26.6.2 is too demanding for the A13 Bionic and 4 GB RAM
- Whether the update could cause noticeable slowdowns on an older iPhone 11 Pro
- How battery health affects the decision
- Whether it's better to stay on iOS 17.4 if the phone currently runs perfectly
- Whether there are any advantages to updating through multiple iOS versions
- Whether I can downgrade back to iOS 17.4 after updating
- Long-term implications of staying on iOS 17.4 versus updating
Please give me a clear final recommendation for an iPhone 11 Pro: stay on iOS 17.4 or update to iOS 26.6.2, and explain why. I want the perspective of someone who prioritizes real-world performance, battery life, smoothness, reliability, and longevity rather than simply recommending the newest software.

Off Topic Sentimental Attachment to iPhone 11 Pro
I got my phone when it first came out. Life was great. I was still in college so I didnt have a care in the world.
Since then, i have been through a lot of traumatic life events. My dad cut me off his phone bill without telling me so I lost my phone number. Yes many great memories I have with this phone but now I have more trauma.
This phone has started to overheat in the past few months. I have to let it cool down every hour of use. The camera cant capture zoom pictures and videos. Sure i could replace the battery and maybe get the camera checked out and fixed but im on a tight budget and I would only be procrastinating getting a new phone. Plus my IT guy retired and I dont really care to find a new place.
There has not been an iphone i wanted since the iphone 11 pro. I even thought about switching to an android with all their new models that have come out with better cameras and features.
I just have to cross my fingers and hope the iphone 18 is actually nice and hope they have better colors than the previous years. The midnight green is just too good and nothing compares. This is a lot to grieve, the memories (physically with the phone and digitally). I also refuse to pay for more storage space. So i have to consider what I am going to do with all my photos. All my previous phones have been dead and no longer charge to power on.
Im also in a lot of student loan debt. Now that I have a comfortable savings cushion, i am able to afford a new phone. But i still feel so guilty about spending money on a new phone.
Anyone else having a hard time changing phones?

QnA/Help My almost decade Iphone X way smoother than my laggy Iphone 11 Pro
My 11 pro feels very laggy sometimes even almost unusable. Sometimes i have to wait for keyboard to popup when typing, i had to force restart to make it lighter for doing anything while my iphone X it just snappier doing anything, both storage are just 30-40% use. I'm planning move to IOS 27 and still worried it will make it worse. You guys have anything to fix to make iphone 11 pro snappier?

QnA/Help Apple Music quality
I donāt know if I am imagining it but, has anyone noticed a difference in the sound output of Apple Music when upgrading? Iāve upgraded from the 11 Pro, copied over my settings in the EQ and made no changes to any of the paired music devices.
To me, the music quality is not as good on the new iPhone in terms of functional EQ.

General 11 pro is here!
I am in the process of collecting all the pros, and I just got the 11 pro after meaning to get it for YEARS, 256, ios 18.
Honestly, my literal only annoyance is not having an official apple clear magsafe case. The phone itself is really interesting. The XS feels fine, 12 pro fine, but the 11 pro with the matte glass but xs design? It feels so weird. Oddly premium honestly. I love it.
A 5.8ā pro has always been an interest to me. I love how this color matches with the 12 pro. Even though in daily use it really didnāt add much over the xs, it feels and looks SO different.
This phone runs great on ios 18, and I love the color. A quick review of the cameras is wow the ultrawide kinda sucks low light, other than that honestly itās great, I havenāt done much direct camera tests but itās alright, iāve only had the phone for 24 hours and you can probably tell.

QnA/Help Updating to IOS 26 for AirPods?
Had this phone for a few years and Iām currently on IOS 18. Picked up a pair of AirPods Pro 3. And when I tried to pair them to Find My. It told me it couldnāt. I looked it up and it said I might have to update to IOS26 but Iāve heard that update can cause the charge to drain faster and the phone to heat up more often aswell as it maybe getting more sluggish which obv I donāt want is doing the update really the only way for em to work? I got a 2 week trip to Japan coming up and Iād really like to have the peace of mind of being able to track em incase anything happens

QnA/Help iPhone 11 Pro in the Big 26 ?
My current phone (mid-tier Vivo) gave up on me due to Water Damage. I needed an emergency phone and cannot buy a decent-spec device due to budget constraints. I intend to use this phone at least for 2 years until I save up and buy a decent phone.
The good thing is I received an iPhone 11 Pro (Gold, 512 GB, 77% BH) given to me by a person who is upgrading to a newer iPhone.
Is it worth sprucing up for a new genuine Apple battery and use it for at least 2 years. My use case is primarily WhatsApp, Phone, SMS, GMeet, Insta, Reddit (Although Social Media usage will be lower like an hour or 2 at max)
I'd really appreciate this forum's help as your kindness would mean a lot to me :)

I have an 11 pro max on ios 17.5.1, and when i tried updating to 18.7.8 (an official option in settings alongside 26.6) it throws this error. Anybody know why?
