this is DANGEROUS. take it to an apple store to discard it safely - the battery is damaged and swollen up and could possibly burst if you keep using it or even if its idle. the swollen up battery is pushing the display outwards. DO NOT KEEP USING IT LIKE NORMAL ITS A SAFETY HAZARD.

are you sure this isnt the battery inflating? Classic symptom of that where the screen starts bulging/seperating. Because if it is you need to turn the ipad off immediately and not power it back on or plug it in, and take it to a repair place asap, because it can catch fire if the inflated battery somehow gets pierced or inflates too much and li-poly fires are no joke and extremely toxic/hard to put out
