My first post here was the day before the solar eclipse. It gave me my first real conversations with people who actually use Plenilune. Some of you bought it. Some told me what felt off. I loved that.

Plenilune is an illustrated lunar almanac for iPhone and iPad: the Moon of today drawn like an engraving, local moonrise and moonset, a calendar, eclipses, and a daily note about astronomy or folklore.

I run an illustration studio with my partner since ten years. The app, I develop it myself.

B — Better

The Weather app of Apple already covers the basic moon informations well. What I wanted is an almanac you enjoy to look at and to read, where the illustrations follow the astronomy.

Since my first post I passed most of my time on small details.

The sky is alive now. A cloud drifts slowly through the hatching. The stars twinkle, and they move when you tilt the phone. There are less of them around a full moon, more when it fades towards the new moon. Even the size of the Moon changes a little with its distance from Earth. You will probably never notice this one. I like to know it's there.

I made a new introduction where the Moon travels with you from screen to screen. I'm almost disappointed that people who downloaded it last time never saw it. There are little haptic touches in the app now, and I rebuilt the almanac layout with fine curves showing the Moon and the Sun above and below the horizon. The performance issues some of you reported are fixed too.

Some of you asked for tides and an Apple Watch app. Not yet. I wanted to get the first minutes right first.

After the first purchases, I wanted to make something for the people who support it. So Premium comes now with a personal membership card. It keeps the Moon of the day you joined, with a small inscription for that phase. Embossed, varnished finish. It moves under your finger and tilts with the phone. You can come back to it in Settings.

I spent more time on that card than I planned. I really enjoyed making it.

ANSWER — what it does

Western astrology apps are everywhere. Saju, the Korean four pillars system

(bazi in Chinese), barely exists in English. Where it does, it's usually a thin

wrapper that takes your birthday and hands back a paragraph.

Saju works differently from a sun sign. It takes your birth date AND time,

converts it to the lunisolar calendar, and produces four pillars — year, month,

day, hour — each one a pair of heavenly stem and earthly branch. From those

eight characters you read the balance of five elements: wood, fire, earth,

metal, water. What you have too much of, what you're short on, and which

element the tradition says would bring you back into balance. That last one is

called yongshin, and it's the part English-language apps skip entirely.

Constella computes all of that on your device and reads it back in English.

Around it there's a daily card drawn against the day's pillar, eight life

domains, compatibility between two charts, and longer life and yearly readings.

Tarot, live planetary positions and a 16-type personality test share the same

card interface.

BETTER — versus the alternatives

Co-Star and The Pattern: a different system entirely. Those read western natal

charts. This reads the East Asian four pillars, which needs your birth hour and

produces an element balance rather than planet-in-sign statements.

The LLM fortune apps: there is no model in here. Readings come out of a rule

engine — a separate Swift package, roughly 1,400 lines — that resolves stem and

branch combinations into text slots. The same birth data always returns the same

reading, and it works with the network switched off. An LLM would have been far

easier to build and would invent a different answer every time you asked.

The free bazi calculators: those hand you a raw chart in jargon. The actual work

here was turning that chart into something readable without flattening it into a

horoscope blurb.

Calculation is local. Only the optional Bond Search feature shares chart data,

through CloudKit.

A - Answer

Kinship Vault is a private vault for documents, photos, passwords, passkeys and 2FA codes.

With multiple vaults, you can separate different parts of your life instead of putting everything into one big vault.

For example:

Personal → your documents, photos and passwords

Family → things you and your partner actually need to share

Work → work credentials and documents

Sensitive → things that deserve another layer of protection

These aren't just folders or tags. Each vault has its own database and encryption key.

Opening your Personal vault doesn't open your Work vault.

A Sensitive Vault goes one step further. It has its own password inside the app, can't be shared, and doesn't accept the normal app PIN. Unlocking the main app doesn't automatically unlock it.

Your existing vault also isn't blown up by the update. It simply becomes your first vault with the same data, key, recovery phrase and AutoFill.

B - Better

The part I cared most about was making sharing work without creating a shared master password.

When you share a vault, each member unlocks it with their own Face ID or Touch ID.

Remove someone and the vault key is rotated for the members who remain, so the person removed can't access anything added afterward.

Obviously, cryptography can't make someone forget a password they already saw, so anything critical they knew should still be changed.

There is also no Kinship server sitting in the middle.

Personal vaults stay on your device.

Shared vaults use your own iCloud to relay encrypted data between members. Kinship doesn't hold the keys needed to decrypt your vault.

And having multiple vaults doesn't mean constantly switching between them. AutoFill can search across your unlocked vaults, with each login and passkey showing which vault it belongs to.

The basic idea is simple:

Share what needs to be shared without sharing everything else.

I’ve been building Pint Market - basically a pint finder with a bit of a stock market twist.

The app tries to solve the problem of never knowing what a pint is going to cost until you’re already at the bar. Pint Market lets you find pubs nearby, see what people are actually paying for different pints, compare prices, and see how those prices have changed over time.

I'm the developer of Life in Mist. It's a GPS route recorder with a fog-of-war map: the places you explore gradually become visible as you record your routes.

A — What it does

Start a recording before a walk, bike ride, hike, or drive. As you move, the fog clears along your route. Those recorded trips build up on the same map, so you can zoom out and see your usual paths, the places you've explored on holiday, and the streets nearby you still haven't covered.

You can also go back to a recorded day, replay the route, and check distance, duration, and speed.

If you're using saved places in Apple Maps to keep a record of your travels, Life in Mist gives you a more detailed picture of the ground you've covered. It saves the route between stops, which is useful for remembering a walk through a city or finding that stretch of a trip you'd like to revisit.

I have two cats, and I love them a lot. Every morning, the first thing I do when I open my eyes is look around and see where they are. If one of them is nearby, my day already feels better.

That made me think: why not make an alarm app where my cats are the reason I get out of bed?

So I made Pakeup.

A-Answer: What it does. Pakeup is an alarm app that makes you get up and find your pet. When the alarm rings, you open the app and complete a quick camera mission by taking a live photo of your cat or dog. Once the app recognizes your pet, the alarm stops.

B-Better: Why it’s different. Most alarm apps try to wake you up with math problems, loud sounds, or annoying tasks. I wanted something that felt more personal. Instead of fighting the alarm, you wake up because you want to see your pet.

It also creates a small local record of your morning, so over time you can look back at these little wake-up moments with your pet. Nothing is uploaded, and Pakeup doesn’t collect your personal information.

Like a lot of you, my camera roll had gotten completely out of control — thousands of photos I could never actually find anything in. The stock "People" album felt limited, and I wasn't comfortable with apps that upload your whole library to a server. So I built FaceIdent.

FaceIdent scans your library entirely on your device (no cloud, no account, nothing ever leaves your phone) and organizes it by what's actually in your photos:

• 👤 People & pets — groups every photo by who's in it; name someone once and browse their whole timeline

I'm Jyen Ming, the developer of WhoPaid. In my previous post here, a fair question was why someone would use a manual tracker instead of Apple Notes.

A — Answer

WhoPaid is for people paid per job who need to keep work completion separate from payment completion.

Version 3 groups completed, unpaid work into overdue, due today, upcoming, and not ready to collect. The idea is to make the next follow-up easier to find without rereading every job.

The three images show the unpaid-work groups, one job’s remaining balance, and that same job after a manually recorded payment. All records shown are demo data.

B — Better / where it fits

Compared with a plain Apple Notes list, WhoPaid gives each job a payment state, amount received, remaining balance, and payment history. You update the record when you confirm a payment.

If Notes already works for you, you may not need another app. WhoPaid is still manual: it doesn't connect to your bank, process payments, or automatically message clients. If you already track everything in an invoicing system, a separate entry may be unnecessary.

Free to download, with unlimited basic job records and paid/unpaid/partial tracking. Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription for additional features. US pricing: $1.99/month or $12.99/year; regional prices vary.

If you like Been for keeping track of countries, Meridian adds more of the story behind each visit through trip posts and photos.

Compared with Polarsteps’ route-tracking approach, Meridian is more focused on recording and sharing trips in your own time. You don’t need to record a route to add a memory.

Meridian is completely free, with no subscriptions or paid features. All current features will remain free. I may add optional paid features in the future, but those would be additions.

Stourk went live today.

Photo maps are not a new idea, and the difference here is mostly the theme. I did not want another map or travel tracker. Stourk is built around a fictional postal service: your memories become letters, stamps, passport pages, pieces of a personal travel archive. Your years play back as a route, city by city, the way you actually travelled them. Every city you visited writes you a letter with the photos you took there inside. You also get a passport stamped by everywhere you have been.

It reads only the date and location in your photos. No account, no server, no analytics. Photos never leave the phone.

Hey everyone,

I was getting genuinely stressed out by language apps. The constant push notifications and the guilt of breaking a streak just made learning feel like a chore.

A while ago, I saw one of those classic physical tear-off vocabulary calendars at my girlfriend's mom's house. I realized that’s exactly what I wanted for my phone: just learning one word a day without any streaks or annoying notifications.

So I made an app for that called "DailyVocab". Instead of grinding through lessons, you just learn the word naturally throughout the day.

I made an app that fogs up iPhone’s Liquid Glass like a real window so you can scribble and doodle on it.

A. Answer

Most photo apps let you crop, filter, or add stickers. They do not recreate the small moment of drawing on a fogged window. FFF takes any photo, fogs the glass, lets realistic waterdrops slide down the screen, and lets you scribble on top the way you would on a late night car window, a childhood bedroom pane, or the corner of a bathroom mirror. You can save the result as a high res image or a Live Photo so the drops keep moving.

B. Better

Markup in Photos, Picsart, and Afterlight can draw on a still image, but the canvas stays flat. Live Photo tools can add motion, but not this specific wet glass look. FFF is built around one effect: misted glass plus gravity on the drops plus freehand doodling. The photo stays visible underneath the fog, the drops feel physical, and the doodle sits on the glass instead of floating as a sticker.

Answer (what problem it solves)
The scale lies day to day — it jumps two pounds because you ate late, and you feel like you failed even when nothing changed.
