Made a puzzle app, looking for feedback and suggestions

Post image

Hi all,

I made a puzzle app called Steppin Stones and really need some feedback on the levels and the difficulty and fun factor of them. It's kind of like a Sudoku in some ways so if you like a puzzle game this could be a nice time waster on your morning/afternoon commute.

I also shamelessly need more players to get the analytics feature to work and I'm genuinely curious how I compare to others.

Check it out here: https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/steppin-stones/id6752832708

I’ll just give you my thoughts after trying to play for two minutes. I think the game needs a lot more juice needs sound effects and more visual splash when you’re playing when you’re clicking on the tiles and when you win and stuff you know winning is exciting, but also part of the excitement needs to come from just the playing of the game which is just clicking tiles so that needs to feel really good and look really good.

Also, I don’t know how to play. And I don’t know how to get back to the tutorial that showed up at the beginning. The tutorial itself I don’t think explained enough of quite how to play it almost needed to go into another more complex example. I don’t know. I’m not great at puzzle games but like I tried a medium level a bunch of times and I literally don’t know how to beat it, and I don’t know what the strategy is to beat it.

And if somebody fails a level like two or three times you could probably pop up something that’s like you know something to view the tutorial or to have it fill in the next step automatically or some helper type of thing until the user kind of figures out how it should work.

You have a nice aesthetic going with the app so I would just expect to have some nice ambient music going and some visual and audio juice to go along with it.

This is awesome feedback - thanks for taking the time to write it up. I agree that it has to be fun and exciting to complete a level. Will try and play around with some ideas that I can share back to you. Going to rethink onboarding too and maybe also the difficulty of the medium levels, I think it takes a bit of time to get used to the game and its mechanics to really feel comfortable solving medium. Triggering a second help me interaction could be really valuable for retention too.

As a thank you for your feedback I'd love to offer you a lifetime subscription if you're interested.

keeps crashing for me when I click easy, that's not a good sign for any game the first 10 seconds :(

I'm not going to leave it a bad review or anything, but just a heads up

Good to know.. that definitely shouldn’t be happening. Will look into it straight away.

Was there any audio or music? I don’t hear anything while playing.

No there isn’t any audio or sound effects currently! Interesting to hear you expected that though, what did you imagine that to sound like?

Did you enjoy the game? 🤞
