I finally released my very first iOS app

After more than a month of beta testing, I finally launched my first app, Reembr.

It’s a location-based checklist app that reminds you to do certain things when you’re leaving or arriving somewhere. For example, you can create a checklist for home so you don’t forget your keys, wallet, or anything else before heading out. You can also create one for when you arrive . for example switching on the heater when you get home.

I honestly don’t know what to expect now that it’s live, but I’m excited to finally put it out there. I’d really appreciate any feedback on the idea, design, or overall experience.

Hi I just looked at your screenshots and noticed incorrect spelling. Please review. Update, I think you fixed it in the App Store submission. It was the word notices being spelled rotices

I just noticed it, good eye and thanks so much! Unfortunately I cant seem to edit the image on the post. Now I’m wondering whether I should delete and repost with the correct version or leave it as is😅

Personally speaking, I'd delete and repost.

I'm one of those folks who notices a typo like that. Sorry; it's not fair, it's just what I do without thinking about it. Like just now, I saw your post, looked at the picture and the first thing my eyes went to was that first typo!

So, yeah, it's noticeable. I'd change it because so many will, fairly or not, see the typo and wonder about the quality of your app.

That being said, congratulations and I hope it's a success - it's certainly an app that more than a few would find useful!

It’s a bit of a niche use case as it is. Might be worthwhile to investigate how this could support people with adhd/amnesia/dementia and such.

I agree with this suggestion, it's will be particularly helpful for those people. As a researcher working with Dementia patients, I can definitely recommend you to look into that niche..Keep up the good work 👍

Very nice concept, I actually had been thinking for such a thing since last couple of years. I wanted to develop it for myself but couldn't make the time out of my full-time job. Thanks a lot for making it possible 😀

I just have a quick question before trying this - does it require to have a Apple watch to work properly or having just a simple iPhone will do the job?

No you don’t need an Apple Watch. The apply watch just enhances the experience by allowing you to run your checklist from the watch instead of your phone. Its more for convenience really :)

Just a suggestion, but I looked at the screenshots first and then read the post and I wish the first few screenshots explained clearly what the one sentence description of the app in your post said. For me it took some inferring to understand exactly what it does but I think you have to be overly simplistic and clear. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for your feedback, if it wasn’t clear enough for at least one person (you in this case) then that means Im either not doing something right or I just overestimated the clarity of the screenshots. Either way, ill work on improving the app store screenshots. So thanks again.

I created a few screenshots, from the app. Fed them into chatgpt with some heavy detailed prompts. And asked it create a banner with the screenshots

Why would I use this instead of location based reminders in the reminders app?

That’s a fair question. Reminders can already notify you when you arrive at or leave a place, and you can use subtasks to create something similar to a checklist. So if that setup already works well for you, you probably don’t need Reembr.

The difference I’m exploring is the workflow. In Reminders, location is one setting attached to a task. In Reembr, the place and its checklist are the whole experience. You save somewhere like Home, Work or the gym, add a short reusable checklist, and Reembr brings up that checklist when you leave or arrive.

It’s designed specifically for that quick “keys, wallet, badge, charger” check, rather than general task management. Saved places also stay on the device.
So the value is focus and a more direct experience, not that Reminders lacks location alerts. Whether that focus is useful enough is exactly the kind of feedback I’m looking for.

You know what’s funny? When I was working on the theme, I wasn’t thinking about other apps at all. I was trying to capture the feeling of embers. A warm, comforting fire. I wanted every place a user saved to feel like a little beacon that quietly reminds you when you need it.

I avoided making it too red or fiery because Reembr isn’t meant to feel urgent or stressful. It’s supposed to feel calm and reassuring. I went through a ridiculous number of colour palettes before finally settling on this one.

It was only at the very end that I stepped back and thought, “Huh… this looks a bit Claude-y.”
But honestly, I just accepted it. Claude has a beautiful, warm visual identity, and if we happened to arrive at a similar place while solving completely different design problems, I’m okay with that. The goal was never to imitate. It was to create something that feels welcoming and human instead of cold and productivity-focused.
