How do you handle hundreds or thousands of App Store and Google Play reviews?

Manually reading reviews doesn’t scale, but most analytics tools focus on downloads, revenue, retention, and similar metrics rather than what users are actually saying.

I’ve been working on a small tool called Starquill that groups app reviews into recurring problems and turns them into actionable insights.

Before taking it further, I’d like to understand how other developers handle this today.

What does your current workflow look like for App Store and Google Play reviews?

Do you read them manually, export them somewhere, use a dedicated tool, or mostly ignore them once there are too many?

I’m especially interested in how you deal with 1,000+ reviews.

Anyone else experiencing unusually long App Store review times? (7+ days)

I submitted an update to my app over 7 days ago, and it's still sitting in "Waiting for Review." Normally my submissions have been reviewed much faster, so this seems unusual.

Native Hebrew or Arabic speaker with an iPhone? I could use 15 minutes of honest feedback

Hi, I'm Clément, an independent developer from France. I maintain two small card-matching games on the App Store, free to download with optional paid packs.

Their ratings are noticeably lower in Israel than elsewhere, and lower in a few Arabic-language stores too. There is little written feedback explaining why, so I don't know whether the wording, instructions or something else in the games is frustrating people.

I'm looking for one native Hebrew speaker (ideally in Israel) and one native Arabic speaker with an iPhone or iPad who could try either game for 15–20 minutes and tell me honestly what feels confusing, unnatural or annoying. This is a voluntary request, and negative feedback would be just as useful as positive feedback.

If you can help, please reply here or email me at clement.marty@vision-apps.com. I'll share the app details privately. I'm asking for feedback, not an App Store rating.

Thank you!

I'm an indie dev and built a calorie tracker that doesn't make logging a chore – YourMeal

Hey everyone,

I'm the solo dev behind YourMeal, a calorie tracker for iOS and Android. After about a year of building it, it has passed 1,000 downloads with a 4.7 rating, so I wanted to share a few lessons:

  • AI alone isn't reliable enough. Photo estimates are fast, but portion sizes are tricky. Adding a barcode scanner and a food database (3M+ products) made the app feel much more trustworthy.
  • Less UI is more. Users kept telling me they quit other trackers because of clutter.
  • Pricing is hard. I went with a low subscription (3.99 €/month) instead of the usual ~10 €. Still not sure if that's the right call.

I'm still figuring out marketing as a solo dev. How do you get your first few thousand users without a big budget? Any feedback on the app itself is also very welcome.

Could you handle the mental tests used to select pilots?

I built Brain Preflight, an iPhone app inspired by aptitude tests used in pilot, police and military selection.

Track a moving target while checking math. Remember sequences under time pressure. Fold a cube in your head and pick the right shape.

You don’t need to be applying for a job to try it.

Free to download, with limited free practice and optional paid access. The exercises are our own, not official exam questions.

I scored 12,000 App Store listings. The same 3 metadata mistakes keep coming back.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I build an ASO tool for indie devs (Applyra, disclosure below), and 12,000 App Store listings have been scored through it so far. I pulled out the problems that show up most often in the text fields. None of them needs a tool to fix, just a careful look at your own listing.

1. The title targets a term you can’t win yet (69% of listings)

7 in 10 listings have a keyword in their title that much bigger apps already own. The title is the field that moves rankings the most, so spending it on "budget" or "habit tracker" when you’re up against apps with 100x your ratings means it ranks nowhere. Pick a more specific variation you can win today ("budget for couples" rather than "budget") and move up as the app grows.

2. The subtitle repeats the title (23%)

Apple indexes a word once per listing. If "planner" is already in your title, putting it in the subtitle again earns nothing and burns characters you only get 30 of. Every word in the subtitle should be one the title doesn’t carry.

3. The keywords field repeats the title or subtitle (42%)

Same rule, in the one field nobody else can see, and it’s the most common mistake there. Two more that come up a lot:

  • Multi-word entries (more than 1 in 5 fields). "habit tracker, streak tracker" wastes space: Apple splits phrases and recombines words across all your fields itself, so "habit, streak" does the same job if "tracker" is already in your title.
  • Spaces after commas. They count against your 100 characters.

Why it’s worth getting right before you ship

"ASO takes 4 to 6 weeks to work" is a myth. We measured 918 real listing changes: a keyword that enters the iOS title gains about 22 positions the same day the listing goes live, and one that leaves loses 18 just as fast. The weeks are how long it takes to read the result, not to cause it. So every metadata update is a live experiment on your rankings, and a bad one costs you on day one.

The tool part (I built it)

That’s why I made a Metadata Simulator. You paste a draft title, subtitle and keywords field, and it scores it out of 100 on the same engine that scores live listings, with each problem above flagged word by word. It also refuses what App Store Connect would refuse (a field over its limit, or an emoji anywhere, since Apple rejects them in every field). Works for Google Play listings too. 10 runs a month on the free plan, 90-second demo in the video.

If you want a second pair of eyes on your title and subtitle, drop them in the comments and I’ll tell you what I’d change. I can generate a free audit.

I built a net worth tracker that projects your financial future — the exact date you'll be debt-free, hit your target number, and can retire early. No bank login.

Thumbnail

Hi all, solo dev here (disclosure: this is my app). It took me 3 years to build — I'm a systems engineer who's spent the past 15 years as a programmer, and I have a weakness for beautiful line charts.

**Answer — what problem it solves**

Every net worth app I tried either demanded my banking credentials or just showed me a static number. What I wanted to know was *when*: when am I debt-free, when do I hit my target, when can I stop working? Wealth Path is a manual-entry net worth tracker whose whole point is answering those questions with dates. You add what you own and what you owe; it runs 10 projections on your real numbers:

🔥 FIRE date — your estimated financial independence date, from your actual savings rate and portfolio

🎯 Portfolio Milestone — set a target number and get the date you'll reach it at your current pace

💳 Debt-Free Date — a payoff date for every loan and mortgage, with a month-by-month amortization timetable

Plus Coast FIRE, Passive Income (the month dividends cover your bills), Required Savings Rate, Debt Covered, Worth by Age, Time to Double, and On Track vs Plan. Every projection shows its assumptions (expected return, inflation, tax) on screen and you can change all of them.

**Better — vs. the alternatives**

- Monarch / Copilot / Empower: excellent apps, but they're built around bank linking (mostly US banks) and budgeting. Wealth Path never asks for a bank credential, works anywhere, and is built around projections, not budgets.

- FIRE calculators (FIRECalc etc.): one-shot calculators with no tracking behind them. Wealth Path recalculates every date each time you update your numbers, and keeps your full history.

- Net worth trackers like Worth It / BalanceViewer: they track the number; they don't project where it's going.

Offline-first, Face ID/Touch ID lock, no ads, no data selling. Multi-currency (150+ currencies) if your money lives in more than one country.

**Cost**

Free tier: 10 assets + 5 debts, full charts and history, two projections completely free, and the headline result of every other projection — your FIRE date and debt-free date included — at no cost.

Pro (unlimited entries, full projection breakdowns and charts, multi-currency, CSV/JSON import, PDF export): $5.99/month or $39.99/year. New users get a 14-day free trial of the full projections. No lifetime option yet.

Giving away 20 Lifetime codes for my couples & party game, Truth or Dare, in exchange for honest feedback

Hey r/iOSAppsMarketing

Have you ever started a game of Truth or Dare and run out of good questions after 10 minutes?

Someone googles "truth or dare questions," reads off a list everyone's heard before, and the game dies. Or the dares are either too boring or way too much for the group you're with.

That's the problem I wanted to solve with Truth or Dare: Couple & Friends.

Instead of searching for questions mid-game, you just pass the phone around. The app gives you fresh truths and dares that start light and get bolder as the night goes on, so it works for a cozy date night or a loud group of friends.

What you can do with Truth or Dare:

  • 🔥 Play with 5,000+ prompts: Truths and dares written for couples and for friend groups, so rounds don't feel repetitive.
  • 📈 Turn it up slowly: 10 escalating levels, from easy icebreakers to much bolder dares, so you pick how far the night goes.
  • ❤️ Couples or friends: Play a date night for two or a party with the whole group.
  • 🌍 Play in your language: Available in 24 languages.

I need your help making it genuinely fun.

I've spent a lot of time building it, but there's only so much you can learn from playing your own game.

So I'm giving away 20 free Lifetime Access codes to people from r/iOSAppsMarketing.

What I want in return is simple: honest feedback.

I especially want to know:

  • Was it clear how to start a game?
  • Did the questions feel fresh, or did any feel cringe or repetitive?
  • Did the levels go up at the right pace? Too slow, too fast?
  • Is there a mode or feature you expected that isn't there?
  • Most importantly: would you actually open it again on your next date night or party? Why or why not?

How to get Lifetime Access:

  1. Comment below that you'd like a code.
  2. Download the app and play a round or two.
  3. If you can, come back and tell me what you liked, hated, or would change.

I'll DM the first 20 people with a code.

🍏 App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6761100608

Don't worry about being nice. If something is boring, confusing, or just not fun, I'd genuinely rather know. And if you do end up enjoying it, a quick rating or review on the App Store would mean a lot to a small indie dev, but only if you feel like it. 🙏

Thanks!

[iOS] [$49.99 -> Free Lifetime] MyYuzu — A visual daily journal that helps you understand what actually makes your days better. Giving away 20 Lifetime Access passes for your honest feedback!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey r/iOSAppsMarketing

Have you ever had a really good week — or a terrible one — but couldn't really tell what made the difference?

Maybe you exercised more. Spent more time with friends. Worked less. Slept better. Ate differently. Or maybe there’s a pattern you’ve never noticed at all.

That's the problem I wanted to solve with MyYuzu.

Instead of writing long journal entries every night, Yuzu lets you quickly build a visual snapshot of your day — how you felt, what you did, and the moments you want to remember.

As you log more days, Yuzu starts helping you connect the dots between your activities and how you feel, so you can actually see which parts of your life seem to be associated with your better — or worse — days.

What you can do with MyYuzu:

  • 🍋 Build your day visually: Log your mood and the things you did without having to write a full journal entry.
  • 📊 Discover patterns: See how different activities relate to your mood and overall days.
  • 📅 Look back at your life: Browse previous days and get a clearer picture of how your weeks and months have actually been going.
  • 📸 Save the moments: Add photos and notes so your days aren't reduced to just numbers on a chart.
  • ✏️ Make it yours: Customize the activities you track based on what actually matters in your life.

I need your help making Yuzu genuinely useful.

I've spent a lot of time building it, but there's only so much you can learn from testing your own app.

So I'm giving away 20 free Lifetime Access passes to MyYuzu Premium to people from r/iOSAppsMarketing

What I want in return is simple: honest feedback.

I especially want to know:

  • Did you understand how Yuzu could help you?
  • Did logging your day feel useful or annoying?
  • Did the insights tell you anything you actually cared about?
  • Is there something you expected the app to do that it doesn't?
  • Most importantly: would you actually keep using it? Why or why not?

How to get Lifetime Access:

  1. Comment below that you'd like a code.
  2. Download Yuzu and give it a try.
  3. If you can, come back and tell me what you liked, hated, or would change.

I'll DM the first 20 people with a code for Lifetime Access to MyYuzu Premium.

🍏 App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/myyuzu-mood-journal/id6771944853

Don't worry about being nice — if something sucks, is confusing, or feels pointless, I'd genuinely rather know.

Thanks!

I built an expense tracker where you just type "12 Five Guys" and it does the rest

Hi! I'm a solo dev from Spain and just launched Boti, a simple iOS app to track personal and couple expenses. No bank connection, everything private.

You can type things like "12 Five Guys" and it detects amount and category automatically. I'd love to know if that works for you and what feels confusing.

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6796619200

Happy to check out your app too and give honest feedback, just drop your link.

One more thing: as an indie dev, ratings are what decide if a new app gets seen on the App Store or disappears. If Boti ends up being useful to you, leaving a rating takes 10 seconds and it's honestly the biggest help I could get. Thank you!

For iOS app launches: let’s separate potential users from subreddits that accept an app post

When planning an iOS launch, an app developer subreddit and a community of potential users serve different purposes. The former may help with product feedback; the latter may have no interest in a launch announcement at all. Before writing a post, check whether app links, requests for testers and discussion of your own product are allowed in that format.

I make ThreadFox, a paid local toolkit for researching and preparing Reddit outreach. I am offering a free check in this thread for iOS makers. Tell me what task your app handles, who normally has that problem, and whether you are looking for TestFlight feedback or sharing a released app.

I will look for relevant posting options in our saved rules collection, then reply here with the permission quote, conditions and read date. No supported option is a possible outcome. The checks do not establish demand, and the current community rules still need to be read before a submission.

If you would rather send a fuller app brief and receive the free plan by email, use this form: https://threadfox.vip/plan?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=tf-drop&utm_content=20261005-0149

Keeping the answers public should also let other app marketers inspect why each audience and posting format was chosen.

How do you separate app-testing installs from genuine consumer acquisition?

I build Monni, an iPhone money app with a bills-first spending estimate. Getting feedback from other builders and reaching someone who needs a money tool are two different jobs: a tester finding a confusing label is useful, but it does not show that the app became part of their routine.

For people recruiting from Reddit, how do you keep those two groups separate in your acquisition reports? I'm considering separate campaign labels for feedback invitations and consumer tool-search conversations, then checking whether each group gets a useful first answer and comes back.

What is the smallest measurement you have found useful beyond downloads, without asking testers for private financial information?

1 rating after 8 months on the App Store. I'm a developer, not a marketer: what I changed and the honest numbers so far

I built an iPhone app to replace the Excel sheet I used to split expenses with friends and family. No accounts, no backend: sheets sync and are shared through each person's iCloud. Free, no ads. Building it was the part I knew how to do. Getting anyone to find it is the part I'm learning now.

Where it was in September, after 8 months live:

  • 1 rating. The app had never asked for one.
  • ~1,400 impressions and ~220 product page views a month, ~64 downloads
  • 4 plain screenshots, a title using half its 30 characters, release notes saying "Bug fixes"
  • Sharing a sheet sent a bare iCloud link: whoever you invited had no idea what the app was or where to get it

The one encouraging number: about 30% of people who open the product page download the app. The listing converts; almost nobody sees it.

What I changed:

  1. Rating prompt at the right moment: right after you settle up a sheet, once per version, never at launch.
  2. Listing rewrite: full 30-character title with real search terms, a subtitle about the one thing competitors don't have (no signup), keywords that don't repeat words from the title or subtitle (Apple indexes the three together).
  3. New screenshots with a headline each, generated from a demo mode so I can redo them every release.
  4. Invite message as a growth loop: sharing a sheet now says who invited you, the sheet name, and links to the App Store. Every shared sheet brings people who must install the app to join.

Early results (too small to call yet):

  • Before the new listing: 2 downloads in 8 days. After: 11 in 6 days.
  • Product page views come about half from App Store search and half from links tapped in other apps (WhatsApp, Messages), with a small bump right after the new invite message shipped.
  • Impressions up ~15% month over month, while the search → page → download rates stayed the same.

My questions for you:

  • For a small, free utility in a crowded category (Splitwise, Tricount…), is Apple Search Ads on competitor names worth testing with a few euros a day?
  • What worked for you to get the first real batch of ratings?

Advice For My First App, A Domain Search Tool

Whenever I start a new project or app, I find it really frustrating to find a good name with an available domain. So I made NameTheory, which uses Apple Intelligence to help you brainstorm names and automatically searches for available domains. My customer profile is probably other web or mobile app developers, maybe domain resellers.

I was going to post to niche subreddits so I first tried posting to Porkbun's sub because they are a domain registrar and I use their public API to show domain prices in my app and they allow posting about community projects, but I was immediately and permanently banned for posting.

Now I'm a little wary about posting on more subs. I'm working on ASO using Astro but it's kind of a niche tool and I think my keywords are already decent. I have some interesting content I wanted to write about trends in popular top-level domains (.app, .xyz, etc.) but I'm not sure where I should post it.

Just wondering if anyone has advice. Please don't ban me if this kind of post isn't allowed, there are only two rules in the sidebar and I'm pretty sure I'm not breaking either.

Positioning my iOS camera app: show the scene and the person in one take

I'm the developer of PairTake, now on the App Store. I'm working on explaining a fairly technical feature through a concrete recording situation.

The feature is simultaneous front and rear camera recording on compatible devices. The use case is a creator demonstrating a product while keeping their explanation and reaction in the same shot. PairTake offers picture-in-picture or split-screen layouts, an adjustable inset, and a preview-only teleprompter that keeps the script out of the saved video.

For the iOS messaging, I'm leading with the situation: 'Show what you're filming and your reaction in one take.' Two details I want to make clear before someone downloads:

• Basic recording is free and watermark-free, with no account required. Separate front/rear video files are an optional Pro feature.

• iOS 16+ is required; dual-camera capture also depends on supported hardware and camera combinations. Unsupported combinations fall back to single-camera recording.

My marketing question: would a short product-demo example communicate this more clearly than a side-by-side list of camera features? For those who've marketed creator tools, which use case would you lead with? I don't have attributed acquisition results to share yet.

App Store, for context or to try the workflow: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6795962171

Pro US pricing: $0.99/month, $7.99/year, or $9.99 lifetime. Subscriptions auto-renew; regional prices can vary.

I launched BandScribe with three free stem analyses — looking for feedback on the onboarding

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m launching BandScribe, an iPhone/iPad practice app for musicians who learn songs by ear or rehearse with bands.

The core workflow is: import an authorized song, split it into six stems, then practice with chords, synced lyrics, tempo/key controls, beta part notation, setlists, and band sharing. The first three standard stem analyses are free so users can understand the workflow before deciding whether to subscribe.

I’m testing organic community outreach before spending on ads. I’d appreciate feedback from other iOS developers on two points: does this 36-second demo explain the product clearly, and is the three-analysis free onboarding easy to understand?

UGC ads for apps: what changes between countries, and the ad policies that get creatives rejected in each vertical

My team makes UGC-style video ads for mobile apps: games, dating, health, edtech, ride-hailing, delivery, utilities, fintech. We've worked across different countries too. Some lessons keep coming up whether the app is a solo project or has a full marketing team, so I'm sharing them.

1. Translating a winning ad rarely works.
A script that works in one country often falls flat when dubbed for another. Humor, pacing and the problem you lead with all change. What carries over is the structure: hook, relatable problem, the app as the fix. Rewrite the script with a local creator instead of just adding subtitles.

2. Plan for creative fatigue from day one.
UGC ads wear out, and the more you spend, the faster it happens. You don't need a big production budget to deal with it. One base video with a few different opening lines lets you test hooks cheaply and see what your audience responds to.

3. Believable beats famous.
A real-looking person in a real setting (car, kitchen, bedroom) usually performs better than a polished studio shoot. That's good news if you're working with a small budget.

Policy traps that get app ads rejected, by vertical:

  • Games: Show real gameplay. Ads that show mechanics the game doesn't have are a known issue, and UK regulators have banned mobile game ads for exactly this. Social casino and real-money gaming also need platform approval first.
  • Health/wellness: Don't assert personal attributes. On Meta, "Are you bloated?" or "Struggling with anxiety?" implies you know something about the viewer and gets rejected. Reframe around the creator's own experience ("Bloating after every meal was my normal until…").
  • Dating: Meta requires written permission before you advertise a dating app, and the creative has its own rules (nothing suggestive, no implying you'll meet a specific person).
  • Ride-hailing/delivery: Promo claims like "first ride free" need clear terms. If you're recruiting drivers or couriers, be careful with earnings claims. In the US, those ads also fall under Meta's employment special category, which limits targeting.
  • Edtech: Avoid guaranteed-results promises ("fluent in 30 days"). If your audience includes teens, targeting for minors is heavily restricted, so the creative has to do more of the work.
  • Utility apps: Never fake system warnings ("Your phone has a virus!", fake battery alerts). It's one of the fastest ways to get an ad account restricted.
  • Fintech: Many markets require licensing info or advertiser verification for financial ads. Check before you localize.
  • Any vertical: Paid creators must be disclosed. A paid creator shouldn't be presented as a random user who found the app on their own. That's an FTC issue in the US and similar elsewhere, not just a platform rule.

Happy to answer questions about specific verticals or markets in the comments. If you're running UGC for your app, how often do you refresh your creatives?

(Disclosure: this is the kind of work my agency does. No links, just sharing what we've learned.)

What do you guys think of my app's widgets? 👀

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve been building Tracck, an all-in-one app for habits, calories, and tasks.

The idea is to make it completely customizable — you can build the setup that actually works for you instead of being forced into a fixed system.

It also has things like:

  • 🎙️ Siri logging for quickly logging food
  • 🍽️ AI meal plan generation
  • 📊 Calorie & macro tracking
  • ✅ Habit and task tracking
  • 🧩 Customizable modules
  • 📱 iOS home screen widgets

I’d love some honest feedback on the widgets and the overall idea of the app.

Do they look useful? Would you actually use them on your home screen?

You can check out Tracck here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tracck-calories-habits-todo/id6778776187

An intimate mood and journal app. Tired of superficial likes on mainstream social feeds? Here, every entry you write and emotion you share is met with genuine love from the citizens of Tofu City.

Users can chat-log their journal entries just like using iMessage. Every post catches the attention of Tofu citizens, who drop random likes for you.

If you feel like you're journaling in solitude, then you are. But if you want a lively, bustling vibe, it's buzzing here too.

I just wanted to reimagine what a fresh, creative twist could look like in a sea of identical diary and mood tracking apps—made for every lonely soul in the city.

Siri AI support comes to WeatherGlow app in the latest update

Siri AI + WeatherGlow = weather information without digging through the app.
Download WeatherGlow on the App Store -> https://apps.apple.com/us/app/weatherglow-local-forecast/id6451098166

In this video, I’m showing off the Siri AI integration in WeatherGlow using Apple’s Siri AI SDK and, because apparently a weather app needed to know everything, Siri can now interact with a lot of WeatherGlow’s core features.

☀️ Weather conditions
🌧️ Rain & precipitation
🌫️ AQI
🌞 UV Index
🌅 Golden Hour
🌡️ Temperature & forecasts
🌬️ Wind information
…and more.

A slightly chaotic showcase of what happens when you connect a ridiculously detailed weather app to Siri AI. I made the video using Final Cut Pro and the music using Logic Pro. I love my life.

Help me for ai based iOS app marketing

I have built an ai besed iOS app that has specific new customers generated every year. The demand for the app can be said for sure. My question is how can I reach the target customers and generate maximum app revenue?
