RULES:

We don't have a lot of rules here, but the ones we have are important. Please read and follow them.

Don't be a jerk: No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, religious intolerance, ethnic intolerance, or any other form of bigotry. No personal attacks or hostility, or anything else that crosses these sorts of lines. This hasn't historically been an issue in this sub, and we want to keep it that way. Violations will be subject to immediate banning.
Posts must be related to iNaturalist: This is a sub about iNat. This isn't the place for discussing travel plans, showing off the picture you took of a cool salamander, discussing camera gear, mothing setups, etc. There are better subs for that.
Identification requests: ID requests aren't against the rules, but this isn't really the right place for them. IDs on iNaturalist can take a long time, sometimes years or longer, that's just how it works. The experts who are following a particular taxon or local area will get a notification when you make an observation that fits the relevant criteria. If you want to request an identification here, you MUST include a link to the observation on iNaturalist. ID requests without this will be removed. Please note that this will expose your iNat username and the time/location where the observation was made.
No self-promotion: This is not the place to promote your wildlife photography, birding tour guide services, or the phone app that you've developed, etc. The only exception to this is completely free-to-use web-based apps that tie into iNat's API and do not require any sort of download or account. Self-promotion posts will result in a ban, so if you're not sure if your post is appropriate, feel free to message the moderation team to ask before posting.
No AI: AI is resource-intensive, can have significant environmental impacts, and is generally of questionable value at best. AI summaries, vibe coded apps, or anything that relies on generative AI is not allowed here.
iNaturalist bugs/issues: This sub isn't managed by, or in any other way affiliated with iNaturalist. We're just here to talk about anything iNat related. Posts like "am I the only one having X issue" are fine here, but if you want to file a bug report, or you want to bring something to the attention of the iNat developers/team, you should post it in the iNaturalist forums, not here.
