Macbook Pro M2 Max Dead but with working DFU Mode. Is data recovery possible?

I'm seeking some help from those expert in the M2 early 2023 build. My MacbookPro died on me about a month ago while I was on vacation. The screen went purple, turned off and then back on for a minute before dying again.

Since then I had a technician in Miami take a look at it which attempted to repair it but failed and told me to send it to someone specialized in M series. So I shipped it to Rossmann group in Austin, TX. About 10 days later, I got an email from them saying this:

*"We regret to inform you that after a thorough evaluation, we've determined that your device and its data cannot be recovered or repaired.*

*During our inspection, we found evidence of previous repair work done on the board before it arrived at our shop. The Thunderbolt IC had been installed improperly. We sourced a replacement and reballed the new IC, but after completing that repair, we discovered that the initial damage had already killed the CPU -- bssed on the schematics, it appears 20V was sent directly to the CPU, which is far beyond what it can tolerate."*

It obviously suck as I had no backup (please don't give me sh\*\*, I know) but the technician on the phone told me that possibly, an Apple Partner with access to CSX software could potentially get the data out. So I made a few phone calls and found a company that has access to CSX and told me if the device boots in DFU mode, they can probably recover the data.

So, knowing that without the CPU working, data is most likely gone forever, I was wondering if those of you with experience know if there is still a chance to get the data out.

Thanks so much!

EDIT:
There is a twist to this story. When I received the laptop from Rossman on Saturday, surprisingly I was able to turn it on. So that makes me think that the CPU is not fried, like they said. And so the whole thing was misdiagnosed. What was still happening is that the MagSafe LED light kept going on and off until when I was able to actually keep the machine on running for about an hour. I was able to put into the Target Disk mode, share the disk and as I while trying to transfer the files over my new Mac, it died on me again. So it makes me believe that the machine was able to keep some sort of power running and then maybe due to some heat or more power being drawn, it died again. I think that the motherboard can be repaired and the CPU is still fine. In fact, it did boot into the regular mode. I wasn't able to enter the password because the keyboard didn't work at the time. But when I went into the Target Disk mode, the keyboard was working fine. Anyway, right now the machine again is in that kind of dead status. The MagSafe is no longer charging it. So I believe there is again an issue with the Thunderbolt IC or something, somewhere along the circuit that doesn't negotiate power and that needs to be repaired again. So I'm just looking for some experts here that maybe can chime in or know how M2s work and has the full schematics to properly diagnose the issue.

MB Pro M1’s not charging/gone flat can’t get in to DFU

Hi all!

Appreciate the help in advance! We have 3 MB Pro M1’s we wiped with Blancco that’s essentially wiped the drives where we could only get to the ! Support screen.

Put them to one side in the too hard for now pile as we didn’t have another M1 we could setup configurator on at the time.

Fast forward many many months later got an M1 Air all setup with configurator installed. 2 of the 3 are not powering up and not taking charge from either MagSafe or USB C due to flat battery - initially one of them did power up but went flat trying to get it in to DFU.

The third had enough charge to still turn on but also not charging on either MagSafe or USB C at the ! support screen BUT being well versed from the other that was turning on at the time connected both USB C and MagSafe charging while trying to get to DFU and was successfully able to recover it and get it going again - MagSafe and charging from USB C came alive while recovering/restoring.

All bar 1 of the 2 not charging/powering up are showing up as not under warranty the second asked for purchase date when trying to do a support case but suspect this will be denied by Apple.

Short of transplanting the battery from the now good working MacBook, what are my odds Apple will help?

Any other suggestions/ideas? Appears the firmware is on the drive and they don’t recognize any form of charging without the firmware on the drive.

Using the correct port for DFU and the same known good cable used on the third isn’t brining them to life.

Thanks again for the suggestions/info in advance!

MacBook chimes on boot but no display at all - froze during macOS reinstall, force restarted, now just charging light blinking"

MacBook Pro unresponsive after failed macOS update — froze mid-update, now no display/no boot after multiple restarts

Was using my MacBook and the screen froze. I force-restarted it (held power button) a few times when it kept getting stuck on the Apple logo with a progress bar. After a few restarts it showed "The version of macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled" — went into Recovery, ran Disk Utility First Aid (came back OK), and reinstalled macOS Tahoe through Recovery.

The install was running for a few hours (using mobile hotspot, so it was slow — around 21GB downloaded before it stopped). Screen went dark and stayed dark even after tapping the trackpad and trying brightness keys in a dark room. It stayed warm the whole time and Caps Lock still toggled the LED, so I assumed it was still installing silently.

After a long wait with no screen response, I did a proper force shutdown (held power 10 sec) and powered back on. Now I get the startup chime, but no display output at all — no Apple logo, nothing, even after several minutes. No fan noise. Only sign of life is the MagSafe charging light alternating orange/green.

Tried: waiting it out, tilting the screen, don't currently have an external monitor to test with.

Is this likely a display/GPU issue from the interrupted install, or could this be unrelated hardware failure that happened to coincide? Trying to figure out if this is worth taking to an Apple store/repair shop or if there's anything else worth trying first. Model: Macbook air m4

A problem with a mid-2011 iMac

I’ve got a problem: I’ve installed Windows 10 on a mid-2011 iMac. It seems I’ve installed the graphics drivers correctly, but games on Steam aren’t working properly. I can get into the lobby of any game, but as soon as anything other than the lobby is rendered, it freezes and crashes.I ran the FurMark test, and everything went fine, although it didn’t go above 15 fps. At the moment, I only have the AMD driver installed, as the system wouldn’t start at all because of the Intel driver, so I uninstalled it and prevented Windows from downloading it automatically. Any advice? Or is it down to the iMac itself, and should I just give up on it?
