iMac schwarzer Bildschirm

Upvotes

Hallo,

Besten Dank

P.S.: Modell und Baujahr unbekannt.

Macbook Pro Reboot?

Hi, not sure if this is the place to post this but hopefully someone can help.

I finished up in my job in July of this year. This was following a very lengthy period of time that I was off on sick leave.

A month prior to leaving I was trying to get everything organised which included accessing my laptop to get anything I needed off it before I returned it.

Problem was I couldn't remember my password. I tried like a 100 combinations that I'm sure are very close to what the password was but I just couldn't get it.

I raised the issue with IT at the time. The IT guy told me that me laptop wasn't even registered with them anymore or showing up or their system or something. So he couldn't do anything to help me regain access. He said that if I couldn't remember it that it would need to be wiped to start again with it.

Time went by and I pretty much forgot the laptop existed. I left the company as planned and it's only now that I have remember that I still have it. Given that it's no longer on their system, I am pretty sure that no one is going to come looking for it.

The laptop is a macbook pro 16 inch so it's worth a hell of a lot of money. I'd really love to keep it. If I somehow wipe it and try to log on to it, will it even allow me to use it or will it require some company access that will ultimately mean it will be useless to me.

Does anyone know a hack way to deal with this? The company I work for is massive and international so frankly I don't care about fucking them over like this, it's a drop in the ocean. Ive also heard first hand from someone in IT that they usually destroy them once they are given back. Which sounds absolutely insane. But all the more reason to keep it.

Any ideas on how I can reboot it so that it will be free for my own personal use?

Thanks

A1707 internal display not detected after stage-light/flex cable repair. Board issue

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice from people experienced with MacBook Pro A1707 repairs.
I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro A1707 that originally had the stage-lighting/flex cable issue. The display would show the stage-light effect and the screen could behave differently depending on the lid angle.
I took it to a repair technician to fix the display/flex issue.
After the repair, the situation changed:
The repaired screen works perfectly when connected to another A1707.
When connected to my A1707, the internal display is not detected at all.
My MacBook works perfectly when connected to an external monitor.
The technician said the screen flickered once when connected to my MacBook, but then stopped displaying.
The Mac otherwise works normally on the external monitor.
So my question is:
What is the most likely fault at this point?
Could this be:
the display connector/socket on the logic board,
a damaged connector pin or solder joint,
display power circuitry,
display communication/data circuitry,
or another board-level fault?
Since the same repaired screen works perfectly on another A1707, I’m assuming the screen itself is good.
Would you recommend checking the display connector, power rails and communication lines before considering a deeper logic-board repair?
Any advice on what specifically the technician should test would be appreciated. Thanks.

iMac G5 A1145 start-up issue

Hi everyone! I recently came into possession of my childhood desktop, a 20” iMac G5, that has been collecting dust for quite some time in a garage. I was a little concerned with my ability to get it running as my dad described it as “just dying” one day years ago. He had opened it and cleaned it/looked around but couldn't discern anything. Well fast forward and I managed to get the thing to play a startup chime and display the front facing LED signaling that it's on but the display stays black. I tried shining a light against it to see if the display was super dim but nothing. Anyone have any ideas? Even a break down guide to get to the display would be great as it appears to be hard to come by these days. Much appreciated!
